First of all, let me start this review off by saying, I am a serious lover of sharks. Shark week every years is the week I get so many new documentaries to watch, and to enjoy. Blue Serengeti was no different.

This was a beautiful documentary that I got to see to kick off Shark Week.

Doctor Barbara Black has been studying the sharks off of the California coast line for the past 27 years, and now, with the latest breakthrough camera and tracking technology, she brings us a stunning documentary of the great white sharks of the Blue Serengeti. Formerly unseen content comes to life in front of the viewer's eyes, giving us a first class view of these apex predators under the ocean surface.

First of all, I have to say the choice of narrator was absolutely wonderful. Doctor Sylvia Earle has a remarkable voice that is wonderfully calming, and it went really well with the whole feel of the documentary. Her voice is soft and smooth, and it added a sense of familiarity to the whole documentary, making the viewer feel at home.

Blue Serengeti features some absolutely beautiful videos and images from under the ocean's surface, showing marine life as some people will have never seen it before. The clips of nature relaxing in it's own habit, swimming happily along; I don't think I'll forget these images for a while.

The research shown by Doctor Black and the research crews is stunning. Showing the way the sharks move around the Pacific Ocean, and with the friendly faces of numerous sharks known to research programmes returning, it's a welcome sight. With more research and results that in years before, Blue Serengeti begins to piece together what we didn't know originally about sharks in their natural habitat. Although there is still a lot we don't know, this documentary brings to light more than we ever thought we could know about the great white.

If you love the aesthetic of marine life, and the new knowledge discovered of sharks and great whites, this is definitely one of the documentaries you want to watch. Blue Serengeti is well made, with beautiful shots, wonderful people, and holds such a love for great whites. A true masterpiece in the documentary industry.
