For those complaining about disinformation and lies.
oscarestrellafrankos5 November 2018
On April 19, 2017, the mother and son of Kondrashina and Ovchinnikov filed for Studio "TriTe" Nikita Mikhalkov in the Presnensky District Court of Moscow lawsuit" on the prohibition of the dissemination of information about private life, "the satisfaction of which by a court decision of September 4, 2017 plaintiffs were refused (due to the fact that during the consideration of the case the defendant made changes in the scenario taking into account the circumstances stated in the statement of claim).

So you see, these changes were made to avoid getting sued!

For me it's a great drama and i's surprised it only has a 6.9 rating.

A Russian "Hoosiers"
brandythefox26 December 2018
Read enough around the events of the 1972 Olympics gold medal basketball game and one thing is clear: this isn't a documentary, it's a sports fable. And what good one too.

If you've watched Hoosiers or Rudy, and aren't particularly political, you'll see that this film is built on the same formula and has the same mojo going for it. Grab us with human interest stories, get us to care and root for them, and make the sport the canvas for the drama.

Take what you see with a pinch of salt - the events were so long ago and yet remain debated to this day. Don't come to this film looking for the facts, come to it for the fun of a well told story.

Great historical sports drama!
slowrine8 January 2018
This is perhaps the best Russian film in the last 20 years!

Stunning movie Interesting, lively, funny, dramatic. In comparison with the previous work - Legend 17, the creators paid much attention not to one character, but to the entire team, where each person, not the screen, also paid much attention to the coach and his family. I empathized, laughed and cried. In the cinema, in which I was, the whole audience stood applauding.

I do not know if this film was released in other languages, but I advise all fans of the sports drama genre to get acquainted with this amazing work.

Sorry for my bad english.

Great Sport Film!
beelzebub6697 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I usually enjoy Sport Films and here was no exception. Russian films overall arent good but lately they are rising their level. This movie, is about one of the most controversial moments in the history of Sport, for some people what happened in the Olympics Games of Munich 72´ was an awful moment, but if we see the other side of the story, the URSS team made a miracle, and they are completly heroes. They were the first team to beat the US basketball team, they dominated the whole match but the last 3 seconds. It is amazing to see another perspective but with high cinematography quality. I recommend it to any sport fan, think of this like a Russian version of the "Miracle on ice". Emotive and makes you feel relative with the underdog.

If you loved the movie, watch BadComedian's review on YouTube.
temirlankasmaliev1 June 2018
The first time I watched this movie, I liked it. I would probably recommend it and give it 7-8 star review. Thanks to BadComedian's review I realized that this movie is full of disinformation and crap. Think for yourselves.

Not bad?
ValentinMedved15 July 2021
The film is not bad, if you don't know the truth. Anton Megerdichev took real people under real names and brazenly lies, and when they ask him about historicity, he says that the film is artistic , but the film does not work as an artistic one. Very good camerawork, but this is the only good thing in this film

Tip:one-time viewing.

Solid sports tearjerker
mart-4525 May 2020
An ultimate sports tearjerker, this is a reasonably well made buddy movie about the most legendary basketball event of the century. It's heavy with propaganda and Russian patriotism, but what else can be expected. The film is quite tense and smooth, in spite of some blatantly disappointing comic relief towards the end (the hippie-Harley hillbilly couple gets much too much screen time, as does the all-black NY street punk team that seems to be fixed in time to the same street corner, where they miraculously have a TV set). However, it's a very watchable movie, regardless of your political on athletic preferences, even though the story could have be told from quite a different viewpoint, had it been made in the US.

Time has gone forever, the past can only be recalled

Warning: Spoilers
After watching the Russian shoot of this "kill Munich", not bad, the plot value of four stars, to five stars, more than one star to that in the cold war era broke the unilateralism of the United States and balanced the bipolar pattern of the former Soviet union! Although russians inevitably bring illicit goods in this film, but overall still relatively objective and fair restore history, see more American film and television drama black former Soviet union black Russia, this "kill Munich" satire on the United States is more reasonable! Check the americans always put the 1972 Munich Olympic basketball final as a disgrace and dark curtain, that year is refused to take the Olympic basketball silver medal, those silver MEDALS are still in the museum, but Russia has always put this victory as their sports history thick stroke! We do not know that the United States and the Soviet union between the enmity, but if the former Soviet union won the United States this time is luck and dark curtain, then the 1988 Seoul Olympics before the Soviet union again tyranized the United States this is more than just luck! I think americans should be grateful for the emergence of the former Soviet union. Without the competition between the former Soviet union and the United States, there would not be the only superpower status of the United States in today's super-strong situation. After all, only with competition can there be motivation and progress! Americans don't actually they show the tolerance and atmospheric, film and television play recently touted the HBO on the day of the United States on the Soviet union at the chernobyl nuclear power plant leak accident of TV drama "chernobyl", I think the show values, eight americans entrainment and subjective color is too obvious, so I just write a film review on IMDB I said if the show I will give very German, but americans are not enough fair and objective reduction of history, so I to eight, I found a lot of Europe and the United States were not recognized my point of view, is likely to be touched their glass heart, ha ha ha ha! The film tells the story of the 1972 Munich Olympics basketball tournament in the final, the Soviet basketball team beat the United States, which has held a 36-year record of winning all games!

Well... not quite...
darkdorn26 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have played basketball for 20 years for now and therefore studied the game history as well. It's a beautifully made movie, but with a lot of bad and over the limit details. Most annoying detail of the movie - if you ever are going to make historic basketball movie - get the correct basketball rims from that time, man. The softer, unbreakable rims with springs came tens of years later. That hurt my eyes. Secondly, please be real, russians throwing down between the legs dunks... Even in today's NBA I haven't seen that being done in-game. Not to mention all the other flashy and also pointguard dunks performed by russian players. The players in that era moved like robots, most of them. Elgin Baylor and Dr. J were the first ones to really play the game with more smoothly body movement. To me the russians just wanted to show off with the inaccurate and overly imposed basketball game as if the have some complexes with the final game. And they should not be so heroic with that Olympic game win because it was a total fiasco of the century in basketball sense. If the timeout is missed by the referee then that's it. Even worse, who was this baldy to go and tell table referees what to do. That's an Olympic final for gods sake! And I am from a country that was under Soviet Union control in that time. Anyway, not a total waste of time if you are not a basketball freak like me.

Amazing sports achievement movie
joaosantos208 August 2021
For this type of movies this is one of the best I seen, great script, compelling story, good actors.

This is not a documentary or a book detailing real events, this a dramatized sports achievement story for the glory of Russian nation. It is allowed when American do it but for some reason no one else can. Live with it.

Go watch Miracle (2004)
darinkadol-2711131 October 2020
Sure the movie is entertaining, given the fact that it plagiarized Miracle (2004). If you really think about it the movie makes very little sense both story wise and characters' motivation. The relationships of the characters have no actual development, there are a lot of plots that were put in simply for the dramatic effect. It is an insult to the actual people that are portrayed in the movie how they change all of them, almost if not all the characteristics of the players are made up and don't actually represent the people behind the names. Maybe worst of all is the advertising of the movie, getting called "a documentary" or saying that it is an accurate retelling, when it couldn't be farther from the truth. The director prides himself on the accuracy of the movie when a lot of things in the movie are anything but the truth. If you want to watch a better movie, with character motivations that make sense and a plot that doesn't contradict itself watch "Miracle".

Very inspiring
kovyrshindenis19 January 2022
The film itself shows the situation that happened in reality. He describes how at that time they "strangled" freedom of speech and action, but at the same time there were people who, no matter what, gave others faith and hope, which inspired them to do something really serious. And let many find some inaccuracies with the realities (still this is not a documentary film), the film is shot very cool and it insanely motivates to fight and act no matter what.

Nothing is unbeatable and the record is used to be broken.
s-3323316 January 2023
Even knowing the final result, I'm still attracted by the excitement of the film, especially the last game Russia versus America, which I think it's the magic of sports. When t's just that you can't move your eye from the screen because every second is important. Though the triumph of Russia is some unfair to Americans who beat Russia twice and fail at last, I'm still touched by the spirit of Russia team. Facing "unbeatable" rival, the Russian team didn't give up when the chance is on hand, but fought with confidence and resolution, which is the most moving part for me. It's the secret of life -you never what will happen next and what's the rest at last and the only thing you can do is stick on until you do make it or die.

I highly recommend this movie
valeriiakondratiuk16 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
(beware of spoilers!!!)To be honest, I very rarely watch movies, and often forget their plot. But this movie is one of the few that I remember well despite the fact that I watched it a few years ago. The main idea of the plot is to show that everything is possible. When a new coach came to the USSR team, he was sure of the victory over America, while the whole team did not believe in their strength. The coach always helped the team, gave his last money so that they would prove to the whole world that they were worthy of victory. Despite all the problems of the team members, they won the tournament, and the money they won was given to the operation of the coach's son. I remember going to the cinema for this movie in 2017. I was skeptical about Russian cinema, but decided to go because of the recommendations of friends. Throughout the film, I couldn't take my eyes off, it was so gripping and breathtaking. I remember what emotions not only I felt, but the whole audience felt when watching the movie. If you lack motivation and inspiration, you haven't experienced vivid emotions while watching a movie for a long time, then you definitely need to watch this movie. Despite the fact that this film was still panned and unconvincing for some critics, I can say with confidence that this is one of the best Russian films that I have ever watched.

A very good movie. Real rate his higher (check quantity of 1 rate)!
michele-brustia5 December 2023
Maybe 10, is too much but at least 8 is the right vote for one of the best Russian movie. If you go to see the votes structure you will easily note a lot of "1" put by users that wanted just to reduce the rating of the movie.

I am very sad to see that people is not looking at quality of the movie but just put a vote considering that it is Russian.

Story is based on real fact with some changes like others movie. Some facts related to a couple of players happened in different years but it is like in Bohemian Rapsody we have several changes in real life of Freddie Mercury.

There is not at all any Russian propaganda in this movie, at the opposite in some parts of the movie they are even showing the bad stuff of Soviet period like when blocked at Customs or the bad attitude versus Lithuanian.

The movie is also showing some plus of American society instead of Sovien one like the contact lenses.

For sure, some Americans did not like to see a story based on the final of Munich, but this is history and they need to accept it.

If you really like movies you should see this. Definetely!

Where were Russian movies all my life
theInfamousPeppapy16 July 2022
It doesn't matter what genre, what actor, pictures, whatever; a story has to be interesting, dialogues, creativity, even if it's a war movie, a sports movie, a science fiction movie, a romantic movie, a musical movie, it doesn't matter if it has big names, pretty faces and impressive visual effects, it's worth nothing without the basics; decent storytelling, a common problem in Hollywood today.

In the case of Dvzheine vverk, they made even people who are not interested in sports interested in this film, without forcing propaganda, great dialogue, and impressive camera effects with a small fraction of the budget of a Hollywood blockbuster at this scale.
