Maybe instead of weekly, the show should move to a single show per month format

I understand that having to write good comedy material each week and have their entire TV audience both relate to the material and keep it topical is no easy task, but for SNL to gain the varied audience it once boasted then the SNL writers have to do a better job of making the material much more entertaining.

This weeks episode spent far too much time trying to belittle the Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump less than one month before the U.S. November 08, 2016 election. I thought I tuned in to watch a TV comedy show and not another Donald Trump bashing. I checked the TV channel I was watching because I could have sworn it was CNN (the Clinton News Network) I was watching and not NBC. Listen SNL writers, if you have no imagination on how to write comedy on Hillary Clinton to balance the shows coverage of the two candidates in satire then give me a shout because there is no end to 30 years of political satire relating to the Clinton's. Come on now!

One other skit that I thought was appropriate was the skit where the theatre group who just completed their stage performance reached out to their stage audience and asked for feedback after their performance from the single person watching their live performance. The writers must have written it subconsciously as I believe I was the only person watching the show this past Saturday night as everyone else had already realized that the skits are just not funny anymore.

As SNL is in its 42nd year and I have been watching it since the very first episode I have faith that SNL still has life left in it. Unfortunately episode 3 of Season 42 sucked not a single ounce of laughter out of me. Fire the writers because the cast is not the problem and get back to at least some level of the original physical comedy that made me laugh at SNL weekly. Otherwise maybe SNL should consider moving to a once per month format and allowing only the decent skits to go forward on live TV.

Unexpected Blast

Don't know why the reviews for this episode is god-awful. From start to finish almost every sketch, save for the boring Melanie Drumpf music video, worked great for me. Especially the Ann Arbor festival sketch killed me. I had no positive view of Emily Blunt before and a neutral expectation for the SNL this season but this episode is definitely contains some sure to be classic sketches. The biggest reason why I catch up to this episode was of course Bruno Mars, and that charming b.stard definitely met every one of my expectations. And although probably everyone is started to get sick of the Drumpf jokes taking half of the air-time (I started to want him to be defeated just for the removal of the jokes) Melanie in Drumpf tower series of this season still gives everybody a quick laugh. I definitely suggest this episode to be watched by everyone who is interested in the sketch style comedy of SNL.
