No, 'Still Open All Hours' is never going to go down as a classic, but it is however just as warm and gently funny as the original.
In small doses its actually quite entertaining. Granville cons the fools who come into the shop in a variety of ways. Every episode is largely a variation on that, and it's well written, well performed and easy enough viewing.
I missed Linda Baron as Nurse Gladys Emmanuel, but Roy Clarke has been clever in creating such a wide ranging ensemble around Sir David Jason (in a very 'Last of the Summer Wine' way that it doesn't make that much difference.
Nothing new here though. A bit like Granville's shop.
