I echo the call to divorce the wife!
Little_Tyke8 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This was an okay film for the Afternoon Movie slot. But whatever happened to marriage vows between the wife and the husband? She believed every accusation made against him, when it would be obvious to any sensible person that he was being set up. But not content with screaming at him like a banshee, she banished him from the home and told him to come and collect his things. When the daughter confronted her mother and said, "I hate you!", I thought, yeah, you got that right!. Awful mother, terrible wife. So the first thing I would do after clearing my name is start divorce proceedings.

The daughter stayed by him all the way. She was a real sweetie. But the wife? Nah, she was something else entirely.

Much Ado About House Hunting
lavatch29 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"The Wrong House" is a by-the-numbers film about a deranged woman who felt displaced when her childhood home is put up for foreclosure. She loses out on the bidding war, then seeks revenge on the new owners.

Brian and Rebecca Lassiter believe they have found their dream home in Cedar Shade after moving to L.A. from the East Coast with little Maddy. But family was not prepared for the series of events that conspire to take the home away from them and break up the family.

The villainess of the piece is Kathleen Strickland, a "personal trainer," who takes advantage of her position to ingratiate herself with the new homeowners and to make their lives a living hell. She plays an especially nasty trick on Brian by promoting him as a pervert and adulterer. While under the care of Dr. Elizabeth Ross, Kathleen's therapy eventually has eye-popping consequences for the poor psychiatrist who is murdered in her office.

Other casualties include a nice neighbor who is pushed down a set of stairs and Detective Carter, who lets his guard down for a moment and is stabbed in the back. It is not clear if the "nosy" neighbor Lana Cranfield will recover from being bashed in the head by Kathleen, who was one of her "trainees."

The film was overly unpleasant, and it stretched credibility when Rebecca stopped believing in Brian when it was obvious that the family was being controlled by a master manipulator. For Rebecca to kick Brian out of the house and for Brian to later forgive Rebecca were leaps of faith that many viewers may find hard to swallow. By the end, it is difficult even to believe that the family would want to reside in a house that appeared to be jinxed as the deadliest domicile in Cedar Shade.

You never did like my lemonade!
kapelusznik189 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** Supposedly based on a true story which proves the saying that truth is stranger then fiction about a crazed and deranged personal trainer Kathleen Strickland,Allison AcAtee, who's out to destroy the new neighbors on the block Rebacca & Brian Lassiter,Clare Kramer & Tilky Jones, for out bidding her for the house that was foreclosed that he mom owned for being behind in her real estate taxes. Not that Rebacca & Brian as well as their ten year old daughter Maddy, Ashlyn Jade Lopez, had anything to do with her mom's eviction as well as later dying of a broken heart Kathleen was out to destroy the Lassiter family as well as anyone who stood in her way in getting her former house back. That's including her psychiatrist Dr. Dr. Elizabeth Ross, Keiko Agena, who after finding out just how crazy and dangerous she was threatened to turn her over to the local police as well as mental institution.

It was Brain who gets the worst of it in his wife Rebecca falling for the fake evidence that Kathleen made up about him being a child molester back in New York City as well as cheating on her by picking up local hookers to party with while she was out at work or shopping. Kicked out of the house and living in his car Brian tried to talk some sense into Rebecca's head not knowing that Kathleen, her personal trainer, was poisoning her mind against him. It's when Kathleen lost her cool as well as her mind and went on a killing streak murdering some half dozen of her neighbors who suspected that she was crazy including Det. Carter-Thomas Calabro-that Rebeccaa finally saw the light only to get knocked out and tied up by Kathleen who planned to make her as well as Brian her next victims.

****SPOILERS**** Insane story, in how the people in it acted, but has to be taken seriously since it's descried as a "True Story" with Rebecca so detached from reality that she could have well mistaken Mother Tereasa for "Bloody Mary" of Scotland in her picking friends. Who by the time the movie ended almost all of them ended up being murdered by her.The ending has Brian finally getting his act together as well as Det. Carter's gun and gunning down a totally insane and crazed Kathneen before she murdered his wife Rebecca whom she was about to run her through with a 12 inch kitchen knife she got from the Lassiter's kitchen pantry.

The Wrong Movie
Reel_Reviews25 May 2018
I'm all for Lifetime movies (saw this on Lifetime Movie Network) but this one was absolutely horrible, from acting to too many holes in the movie.

As the summary says, Rebecca and Brian move into a new house in which strange things start happening from food they didn't order being delivered to their house, to exterrminators being called because of a rat problem they say they don't have. They soon learn whose behind all of these "pranks".

Issue one.If you say you didn't order food that's being delivered to your house, you shouldn't, nor would you pay for it, yet, Brian pays $57 for four pizzas and $42 for Chinese food.

Issue two: When they call the police about what's been taking place a detective shows up. When does a detective take a report for non-emergency, non violent issues? Detectives are usually assigned important cases. Not petty stuff like food being delivered and exterminators being called.

Issue three: When the detective goes to Brian and Rebecca's house and finds the door open, why doesn't he announce he's the police or he's a detective instead of shouting "Hello! Anyone home?"

And don't get me started on the unnecessary dramatic music through out the movie. Every scene in the movie had music.

This is one of those movies where the synopsis sounds great, but the execution was horrible.

I don't recommend this movie to anyone...not even if you're bored and this the only thing on TV.

So bad it's good
cher-8712213 September 2018
This is one of the worst Lifetime movies I've ever seen! The acting was horrible, none of the characters were likeable, and it was based on actual events!? If that's true then I hope it is very loosely! None of it was believable and just too many holes and unrealistic situations...from the guy checking out the house at night with a flashlight and determining it to be "perfect" to the wife complaining the House wasn't "ready for entertaining" yet everything was perfectly placed just days after moving in?? Also the night they were going out to dinner, the wife said they needed to go early because the daughter has school the next day, but then the next scene (same day) they are talking about the potluck being the next day (a Saturday). Poor editing obviously. Even so, I watched this whole movie, Lololololol

Dumbest movie wife ever written.
glockman3910 July 2017
I'll fully admit that LMN movies are written with the mentality just shading Harlequin romance novels, but does Lifetime really believe their viewership is that dumb? Who writes a character as dumb as the wife? She sees all these weird things happening to them, hears the detective say that the weird happenings are set up with burner phones, and then she flips out like a psychotic, menstruating beast after finding underwear in the bed?

The husband should have had lines written for his character at that moment telling her that she needed to get the hell out, and that she would have nothing in the divorce settlement. Worst LMN movie ever written, and that's saying plenty. (ps. my husband says worst LMN ever (even tho we enjoy them), but this really does take the cake)

The stupidest lifetime wife ever!
haroot_azarian22 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously he should have kicked her out filed for divorce and sole custody of their daughter! She was disgustingly stupid!!!!! She should have got on her knees and begged for forgiveness! Stupid b!tch!!!! Her acting is so diabolical. It's so fake and her facial expressions, hand gestures and body language are just pathetic. Oh and the only time Clare Kramer acted well was in Endure (2010). She didn't have any dialogue in it!

Also, how stupid a script where after being knocked out instead of faking death what does the victim do? She starts to do a slow crawl towards her cellphone, giving psycho ample time to turn around and stop her and finish her off properly.

Oh then psycho commences to murder her therapist in her office after chasing her around for a bit, without anyone hearing. And we never know what happens to her body or even the neighbor who was wacked to death by her own pool. Guess the police are always slow in Lifetime movies!

The Quintessential Lifetime Movie
gopchapman6 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is EXACTLY what I am looking for when I turn on the Lifetime Movie Network. The acting is bad, the plot was ridiculous, and it was an absolute joy to watch from beginning to end. Watching movies is a temporary escape from reality. They are a chance for us to forget about our own problems for a short time. The problem with high quality movies is that you sometimes get so invested in the characters' problems- that it almost isn't an escape at all.

That is not a problem with a movie like this. It's entertaining. It keeps me watching. But it is so unrealistic and absurd that your blood pressure will never budge.

Sending pizza to someone's house as a means of harassment? Then Chinese food? Then an exterminator! Lol. The author must have begun working on this as a 6th grade project. I love how instantaneous the murders are in the movie. A single stab to the back and the cop is dead before he hits the ground. And how the murderer just continues on without a care of ever being caught.

Btw: I absolutely love how every main character on Lifetime movies lives in a 5 to 10 million dollar mansion. Even single moms with waitressing jobs. When they show someone who is supposed to be lower class- they live in a house that probably goes for only $2 million.

I can't get enough of these movies!

Allison McAtee is awesome
DavidSKS26 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Allison McAtee is quite the talent. She alone makes "The Wrong House" worth watching.

I absolutely loved Allison in the independent film "Bloomington", where she portrays a college professor who has a torrid affair with a female student who was once a child acting star. So of course I was very excited to see her on screen again.

In "The Wrong House", Allison's character is the antagonist, but she is no less outstanding. Ms. McAtee shows she can portray just about any character written for her.

Nice to see Clare Kramer playing a grown-up role 16 years after playing a supporting turn as a cheerleader in the original "Bring It On". Ms. Kramer would have done well as the star if Kirsten Dunst and/or Eliza Dushku had said no.

Allison and Claire have quite the war over the hunky Tilky Jones. I can see why Allison's Kathleen Strickland was so hot for Tilky's Brian Lassiter.

As for Tilky, he gets paired up with some beautiful women. Watch this movie, as well as "Open Marriage" starring Tilky and ex- Playmate Nikki Leigh and you'll see.

Allison's talents make Sharon Stone the second greatest actress from northwest Pennsylvania. Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of Ms. McAtee. Maybe a "Basic Instinct" remake with Allison portraying Catherine Trammell...

The Wrong Move
wes-connors29 December 2016
A handsome man, with a neatly trimmed beard, lurks around a house in the darkness. He seems to be attempting to break into the house, but he is interrupted by a phone call. Inside the house, we briefly see a dark figure creeping across the screen. This opening never really fits the rest of the story, although you could rationalize it with a line or two. "Inspired by a true story," the TV movie settles into place after the credits. The handsome man with the neatly trimmed beard is Tilky Jones (as Brian Lassiter). He moves into what looks like a dream house, with his attractive wife Clare Kramer (as Rebecca) and their adorable lemonade-selling pre-teen daughter Ashlyn Jade Lopez (as Maddy). Alas, a title like "The Wrong House" shouts trouble ahead...

This is competently guided by Sam Irvin and his crew. The direction is steady, holds interest, and we accept Mr. Irvin's putting women on counter-tops as a stylistic touch. The location and a supporting cast of instantly too-friendly neighbors give it a suitably phony atmosphere. Others in the cast include fitness trainer Allison McAtee (as Kathleen Strickland) and former "Melrose Place" mainstay Thomas Calabro (as Carter)...

What ruins the supposedly "true" story is the half-time decision by a major character to separate from her husband. Given the many incidents preceding the discovery of strange underwear in her bed, her decision is inexplicable. Since the character is presented as sane and intelligent, she should never be given a second chance. "The Wrong House" never addresses this character's sudden lack of cognition.

**** The Wrong House (12/26/2016) Sam Irvin ~ Clare Kramer, Tilky Jones, Allison McAtee, Thomas Calabro

The WRONG Lifetime Movie
Being the lifetime movie buff that i am, I had to come here and review this movie. I wanted to like it but just couldn't. The acting was so bad, almost embarrassing. So many things could have been said or done differently to make this a decent movie. This movie has potential but failed to deliver. One of the worst lifetime movies I've seen.

Horrible delivery
contactcharlee23 June 2017
The story line was OK. It seemed to be so long-winded about nothing. Is this how it happened since it was based on true events. Too long to get to the point, why? Horrible actors/actresses. And did Rebecca really have such an insecurity? No different than the perpetrator. The two actresses were not delivering it. The actors were just OK, the supporting actors/actresses just OK. It was more aggravating than me having any understanding or sympathy.

McAtee's performance sparks otherwise just competent thriller
mgconlan-12 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
"The Wrong House"'s central characters are Brian and Rebecca Lassiter (Tilky Jones and Clare Kramer). He's a successful architect in New York City who decides he can make even more money if he relocates to L.A. and works for the West Coast office of his firm. Professionally the move is an almost immediate success — his design for a major new skyscraper lands him the contract to build it (it looks from the model like a cross between a giant drill bit and one of Howard Roark's modern designs in "The Fountainhead") — but personally it's a problem. The Lassiters got a great deal on a fancy house in the Coral Gables section because it had been foreclosed on and the bank had been trying to unload it for years — though, unlike real-life banks in that situation, they'd spent money on upkeep to keep the house in good condition so it would fetch a good price when it was sold. The realtor who sold it to them, red-haired Angela Chasen (Carolyn Hennesy), told them there had been another offer for the place, but she was concerned that the other buyer didn't have enough liquidity so she sold the house to the Lassiters instead. Even though the Lassiters' move disrupted the schooling and friends network of their daughter Maddy (Ashlyn Jade Lopez), they seem happy enough in their new house.

Then various nasty things start happening: the Lassiters are about to go out to dinner when a delivery boy (Erik Estrada Loaiza) shows up with over $50 worth of pizzas with extra anchovies and says that Rebecca ordered them, which she did not. We've already seen Kathleen Strickland steal Rebecca's number and put it on her phone, so we know it was Kathleen who pulled this prank and later sent another delivery person with a bag full of Chinese food (which at least sounds tastier than those pizzas with double anchovies!). Things get nastier one night when someone throws a rock through the window of Maddy's bedroom — and Lauren's maternal instincts kick into high gear: being socked for $100 for delivered food they hadn't ordered was one thing, but something that endangered her daughter … The next day, during the potluck, two exterminators (José Rosete and Mickael de Sinno) come over to spray the place for rats, and when David insists that there are no rats, one duly shows up and nearly bites one of the guests.

The "pranks" escalate as posters suddenly show up around the neighborhood that make a devastating criminal allegation against David, and then Kathleen Strickland, Lauren's physical therapist and the woman behind the attacks on the Lassiters, enters the house and fakes evidence of David having an affair: she takes off her underwear and hides it under the Lassiters' marital bed, she showers in the Lassiters' bathroom and carefully pulls off a lock of her hair to leave in the drain, and as if that weren't bad enough she leaves a note in the pocket of David's shirt, ostensibly from a woman named Caitlin claiming that David had promised to leave his wife for her and Caitlin was upset with him for reneging. Lauren throws David out of the house and he ends up in the Palm Court Motel. Maddy tries to keep in telephonic contact with her dad but every time Lauren catches her daughter and her husband talking on the phone, she grabs the phone away from Maddy and hangs up on him.

The only truly fun part of this film is, as usual, the performance of the actor playing the crazy villain: director Irvin and his writing committee were going after florid-psycho instead of self-contained psycho in their characterization of Kathleen Strickland, and Allison McAtee seized the opportunity for one of the most joyously overacted performances I've seen in a recent film. Self-contained one minute, doing rage the next and then suddenly breaking out in tears, McAtee is fun to watch for the sheer over-the-topness she brings to a character who's pretty relentlessly over-the-top even for a Lifetime villainess, and the writers give her plenty of opportunities by supplying a script of such demented sloppiness things just happen without much of a sense of direction — thereby throwing McAtee a bunch of barely motivated curveballs which she keeps hitting out of the park!

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was completely stupid. The actors were really bad. I cant believe Lifetime is still showing this after so many bad reviews. You should do us all a favor and burn it. Like seriously how the hell did the trainer stab the detective in front of the wife tied up in the kitchen and then the husband pulls up right after. Then suddenly the wife is tied up in the closet so quickly. Yeahh Im sure the trainer carried her with the chair and put her in the closet all by herself. Stupid stupid stupid!!

When you buy a house, find out the history behind it meaning who lived there before and why they left.

A couple with their daughter move to California as he is promoted and they get much more than they ever bargained for when they move into their gorgeous new home.

The neighbors appear friendly, even the nosy neighbor is nice and it's nice to see an integrated neighborhood with a lovely black woman who soon falls victim to the terror that waits the new occupants.

An insane trainer, who once lived in the house, before her parents divorced tries to buy it back but when she loses out to our couple, she seeks bitter revenge. It is just unbelievable what she concocts along with murder along the way- food deliveries from stores, exterminating services, claiming that the husband was a child molester, wiring the house so that she can see on her computer what is occurring, throwing a rock through the window, making it appear that the husband was carrying on with another woman in the house.

The story gets wilder and the bodies begin to pile up including that nosy neighbor, the black neighbor, her psychiatrist and the police officer investigating.

There is non-stop excitement and the film is definitely engaging.

Usual made for tv silliness
monica_maclean30 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I caught the second half of this film, which was called "Dream House, Nightmare Neighbour" (2016) which is also the name of a similar film made in 2019.

The premise is, a couple with their young daughter move from another state and purchase their dream house. Problem is, nutty personal trainer who grew up in the house, but it was repossessed because her mother was an alcoholic, who subsequently killed herself, wants "her" house back, having been gazumped by the couple.

She sets out to drive them out of the house, with a number of pranks, that end up more sinister, with her attacking another neighbour and the detective investigating the pranks.

The film ends with Brian, the husband,(wooden actor) discovering who the personal trainer, Kathleen is and he kills her. What I found strange though, Kathleen attacked a neighbour in her garden, we never find out if she's dead and seemingly no one knows about it, she's likely still lying, lifeless by her pool. We also never find out if the detective is dead or alive, many loose ends.

This is the sort of film you'd continue to watch, after misslaying the remote control. Entertaining enough, but typical of made for tv films.
