A great time

Did like Season 1 of 'Be Cool Scooby Doo' on the whole, it took a while to find its feet fully in terms of the plotting and some of the character writing but the energy and humour on the most part were great and there were plenty of cool villains. When though it hit its stride in the second half of the season, with its more consistent quality and higher number of great episodes, the season at its best was quite great despite the animation style never being to my taste (which sadly only saw marginal improvement in Season 2).

Which on the whole was more consistent and more settled, despite a few not too massive bumps. "Some Fred Time" was a great start for Season 2 and perhaps one of the best 'Be Cool Scooby Doo' episodes. As well as one of the funniest. Really liked the premise, who wouldn't want to see a more relaxed Fred once in a while, and it was different in setting. Not everything wowed me, though even the flaws were not as bad as they were in Season 1, but a lot here is great.

Beginning with the not so good things, despite being an improvement over Season 1, the animation quality still isn't to my taste. Too rushed and garish looking and too many of the characters are off model.

Did like the rules mania quirk a lot and it was amusing, but did also feel that it was a little too overused and repetitive later on.

"Some Fred Time" has a lot of great things. The music is groovy and atmospheric and the mystery never lets go when it comes to the energy without being too relentless. The atmosphere is also strong and it never feels too simple or too complicated. The reveal wasn't earth shattering, but it also wasn't over obvious and it was clever in explanation and staging. The villain is very cool and creepy, as well as one of the show's best looking, like the Demon Shark from 'The Scooby Doo Show' but creepier and less goofy.

Loved the setting, which was different and had a nostalgic feeling. It is a very funny episode, Fred being suspicious was extremely entertaining to watch, the no picture echo line made me laugh too and wasn't overdone and the opening with the rich people is one of the show's funniest openings. The character writing is spot on, Fred has come on a lot since the show first started and this is one of his funniest appearances. Daphne's quirkiness is refreshing and Shaggy and Scooby are as endearing as ever. Velma doesn't come over as too much of a know it all, while the supporting characters all engage.

Concluding, great. 9/10.
