Day 408
bobcobb30122 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I hope the Presidency of Donald Trump does not define every aspect of this show moving forward. It is fine to involve politics, but it should be about telling good stories here.

They started things off in a wild way with lawyers randomly dying, and Jane Lynch's FBI character returning to try and outsmart Luca and Maia.

The writing of this show is just so far above almost everything else on TV these days.

"The Good Fight" season 2 starts strong and never lets up

Warning: Spoilers
"The Good Fight" is amazing. I loved its prequel show, "The Good Wife," but this one is even better, which I wouldn't have thought possible.

During this episode, Dianne (Christine Baranski) is stuck in court, and I had to pause the show because I laughed for about five minutes straight when the bailiff announced "the honorable Judge Lyman presiding" and Howard Lyman (Jerry Adler) showed up. I bet he wasn't wearing any pants under that robe.

Very quiet. A pace change that worked really well. Great music.

Excellent Episode!

A nice balance between story, wit, and jabs at tRump! Tremendous to see Brian Stojes Mitchell and Audra MacDonald back together - their chemistry here, as was the case in the Broadway production of Ragtime, is palpable. I love how The Good Fight finds ways to remind people what was going on in Washington, and hiw it affected real people.

The ongoing story of Maia's family has gotten very interesting - according to the resident FBI agent played so well by Jane Lynch. It is enlightening to see a truthful depiction of the kinds of "clever" adjustments to the truth that are used by them. Again, an overall Excellent episode - great story info and great acting!

Disappointing start

The first episode of the second series is rather unfocused and disappointing compared to the strong finish of the first series. The writers ladled on the Trump derangement and making political points which they had managed to keep fairly under control in the first series. It's a pity that they can't keep their political dissatisfaction to themselves and get on with telling a good story. Do they really only want to cater for the losing side in the election? The acting is excellent as usual, but the material lets them down.
