A descent into deep space hell, Hellpoint gives the player a helluva journey through a space station named Irid Novo that orbits a black hole. Playing as a synthetic humanoid, you must travel the space station, killing demonic entities, and finding items such as keys to progress further. My friend was obsessed with this game when it was first announced, and when it came out I remember playing it with him on his Xbox One, and the experience was kinda bad (lots of lag, and split screen was a mess). A year later, he mentions that Hellpoint got a dlc called Blue Sun so I decide to replay the base game with him and then play the dlc. Replaying the game was quite a better experience since I was playing it on my Xbox Series X, so while we played split screen, there was absolutely no lag. My one main issue with this experience is that the game doesn't let you play as your profile if your player 2, so I wasn't able to get any of the achievements. Regardless, finding and killing all the demon bosses was plenty fun, finding key after key to get to anew area was somewhat exhausting, and some of these map layouts are some of the most confusing layouts I've ever witnessed. In the end, my friend and I tried are best to fully complete the game (and for the most part, we did). Next was the Blue Sun dlc, which basically just gave you new areas to explore, including more bosses. Can't say the story or narrative stuck with me, but it was a nice addition to the game with some cool bosses to kill. Last but not least, after we defeated the Sentient, and the game was done, I ended up checking out the Hellpoint demo which is titled The Thespian Feast. Set 50 years after the events of the base game, you play as some random who checks out the unresponsive space station, only to find out... well demons. Basically, it's a level from the base game with a few twists; my friend bailed on me playing this, so rushing through the game, barely killing anyone and finding the keys, I was able to get the door to the main boss open, and once that happened, rage ensued. Eventually, I was able to get my friend to hop on and help me kill the boss, to in which the demo ends, and that's really it. Kind of a waste of time IMO. In the end, Hellpoint was a pretty good game reminiscent of Dark Souls but in space. By time the game ended, I was level 164 so with that said, you can probably tell I played the s**t outta this game. I think the game was quite impressive for such a small company, and if there's ever another game developed by Cradle Games, I'll definitely be checking it out.

In all, the story is a little confusing, but that's the Dark Souls likeness/appeal of the game. The ending is loads of fun, and some of these maps were fun (and some definitely weren't ). If you're looking for a game that will make you work to beat it, here ya go. You're welcome.

An interesting game designed for little money

I played Hellpoint with great pleasure. Exploring the Irid Novo space station was a lot of fun. Considering that this is a budget game developed by a small studio with a very small budget, then the developers are worthy of all praise.

Pros: chic atmosphere of dark space fiction, an interesting world to explore. Cons: not interesting bosses, simple graphics.

+1 point for the fact that the game is from a small studio with a meager budget.
