Day of the Dead, classic Death in Paradise.
Sleepin_Dragon2 February 2018
Island Celebrations on it's Day of The Dead festival turn sour when beautiful Charity worker Daisy Anderson is found dead. DI Mooney is also faced with a problem, when Harry, the Shack's resident Lizard looks distinctly off colour.

Arguably the best episode of Series 7, this felt like classic Death in Paradise. First off, whoever was in charge of the visuals for the episode needs recognition, this was a visual feast, The Day of the Dead festival looked incredible, the costumes and props were fabulous, also the fashions in the episode looked so good. My issue in recent times has been with the originality of the material, this was definitely on point, a very clever mystery, and an outcome I didn't see coming, top notch writing.

I loved how the reaction around Harry, very much an integral part of the show, added some light relief, nobody cares about the death of a beautiful young woman, but an off colour Lizard, now that's tough. Ardal seems so settled in this role, I am so pleased to see him returning for the show's eighth series.

Excellent.

This is a good one and the episode where Ardal O'Hanlon grew on me, at first I didn't like his take on the show but he seems to fit in so well now he may become the best detective sent from the UK yet. Good script and lovely scenery and at last a good plot.

A very good one indeed!

Warning: Spoilers
The seventh season of "Death in Paradise" has not been a very impressive one with the first three episodes being decent and the fourth average at best. I am very glad to say though" Murder on the Day of the Dead" is easily the most impressive of this season so far. It's not a great entry ("In the Footsteps of a Killer" is a better contender for that), but does not stay far behind.

So let's start with good, shall we?

. The production values are great as usual. The episode looks good and sounds incredible. The acting's pretty good all around, Pippa Haywood and Danny Rahim giving the most compelling performances.

. The murder mystery is very compelling with twists and turns. The solution to this mystery (it's always about money, isn't it? ) was satisfying too. The humor's quirky and does not fall on its face. The subplot with Dwayne was quite heartwarming actually.

But...

. The direction is sometimes too dramatic and the areal shots do not always work. The look of Saint-Marie is gorgeous, but "Death in Paradise" is not a nature-documentary.

. Also felt the subplot regarding the lizard could have benefited from a lot more attention.

Overall, very good if not a great entry.

A strong episode of the show, and one that certainly keeps you guessing as to who the murderer was right up until the end.

A nice original plotline, and the dynamic between Jack and Florence is coming on well. It was good to see Catherine being given a bit more to do too.

The subplot involving Harry was more entertaining than anything involving Dwayne though.

Warning: Spoilers
I've been a big fan of Death in Paradise since it debuted over a decade ago, and I've been reflecting on it lately, especially with the departure of Ralf Little at the end of season 13. Anyway, here DI Jack Mooney and the Scooby gang work hard to investigate whodunit with respect to the murder of Daisy Anderson.

Distinguished actress Pippa Haywood guest stars in this episode. Anyway, I always enjoy seeing which guest stars pop up. Perhaps future episodes will feature Danny Dyer, Dani Dyer, Michael Caine, Jennifer Aniston and any of the Spice Girls.

Anyway, really more credit should also be given to the two loyal paramedics who turn up at the crime scene to help out DI and his team. They should be given lines, or at least have an imdb credit.
