Watch only if you haven't seen A Bride for Christmas
Jackbv12330 March 2021
It's a bad enough premise to begin with. Offensive actually, especially when combined with all the other misogyny. But this movie is the closest copy to another movie that I have ever seen without actually being a remake. It's actually closer than some remakes. Almost every significant plot point is the same.

The girl scouts were the best part of this movie and they brought out a few good laughs.

Sadly for me, I kind of liked Karissa Lee Staples and her relationship with Peter Mooney. It's too bad the woman really needs about 5 years of counseling before she's allowed out in public. And he family needs help too.

If you can get past the stinky premise, either one of these movies is OK, but not both.

PS I don't know if I was clear above that my biggest complaint about the movie is the misogyny and the cruelty, mostly early in the movie. The Bet is not just insulting to women (general) and the woman (Melanie), but the way his boss engineers it and persists with it is even worse. And the attitude of ownership by the third fiancée adds to it even more.

The fact that the movie is such a copy of the other one(s) is even worse given how insulting the premise was in the first place. The fact that my rating is as high as it is says a little about how much I enjoyed the interaction between the leads, oh and the girl scouts.

is fourth time a charm?
brynnkeel3 September 2019
I adored this movie! It reminds us how love should be and why finding the person to spend the rest of our lives with is done with the heart, not the head! And it all starts with a bet!

Classy & Cute. It features a girl who has had several failed engagements. She meets a guy who is put in the middle by his boss of a betting scheme and he ends up calling off the bet.

Almost exactly like A Bride for Christmas
mickyreynolds18 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a knock off of a 2012 movie called A Bride for Christmas. I kept watching to see if things would change but it just kept going in the same path and the wording was exactly the same to A Bride for Christmas in major parts of the movie. Instead of art gallery it was a juice bar thing, the sisters instead of owning a design company together they own a personal trainer business together. The guy she ran from at the alter said the same stuff as the guy from the other movie. Hallmark needs to get new ideas and not just change some plots and call it fresh.

Simple, sweet, made-for-tv movie.
larkdeb6 July 2018
Likeable characters, believeable acting, and a story line that was not overly dramatic or ridiculous. A pleasant hour-and-a-half spent; at the end of which, I was smiling and satisfied. I loved the fact that the sister character was not the stereotypical rom-com "best-friend." She was every bit as pretty and likeable as the main character (Mel).

Cute and romantic!

Cute, cliche betting scenario turning real but as long as the actors were good and sincere, I like!

Bad Ripoff, Lazy Writer
SouthernDeltaDawn13 January 2019
Like the others, I immediately recognized this as a ripoff of "A Bride For Christmas" a 2012 Hallmark movie. I checked and it's the same writer. How very lazy do you have to be to change the names, switch poker for bowling, nutrition for interior design, and scouts for the dog rescue? That's it, the rest of the script is the same. Skip this one and watch the original which is better. Personally, I'll be suspect of anything Barbara Kymlicka writes again and so should those who hire her.

Likeable cast saves unlikeable characters
phd_travel4 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This formula romance has 2 flawed people a heroine who has left 3 men at the altar and a toxic bachelor who makes a work bet to land a bride in a month. Guess they deserve each other.

The cast led by Karissa Lee Staples and Peter Mooney are watchable and look good together. Supporting cast : it's great to see Kim Delaney back.

Anyway predictably they fall in love and she finds out but things work out.

A poor copy of a 2012 movie
lorinedon28 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a copy of "A Bride For Christmas" from 2012. Only the businesses of the sisters, the groom and the ex-groom have changed. The story line is exactly the same except that the finale is the bride's parents' 30th anniversary in the 2017 movie as opposed to Christmas Day in the movie. What a disappointment!

Poor imitation

Warning: Spoilers
Poor imitation of A Bride for Christmas. The characters are not as funny or endearing and don't have the same level of chemistry. Disappointing.

Horrible movie, very poorly made, Peter Mooney is very hot
j_co16 September 2019
The only good thing about this very predictable movie is how attractive Peter Mooney is, worth watching just for his beautiful face and great arms. Some of the lines and the plot are so unbelievable I can't imagine how it even passed the editor's room.

A direct copy of Hallmark's 2012 "A Bride for Christmas".
kmarsha-4300216 April 2021
I've never seen such blatant plagiarism in a movie before. The writer/director even went so far as to steal the exact words!!! THIS MOVIE SHOULD BE REMOVED!

Glad I haven't seen "A Bride for Christmas"
steph-503677 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Sounds like most of the negative reviews are based off seeing this other movie "A Bride for Christmas" bc that came first so I can understand I suppose. I haven't seen that one so maybe that's why I was able to enjoy this. I mean of course no one in their right mind gets married this quickly but I can't take that into consideration knowing full well this is a Hallmark movie after all. It wasn't overly cheesy (which I can't stand) and I liked both leads so what can I say. If you haven't seen "A Bride for Christmas" give it a go!

Predictable and pandering
nyushade3 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
For one, it's very predictable from the very start, and secondly (spoilers ahead if you somehow managed not to predict it would happen), the whole movie leads up to the chick marrying her love interest as soon as she starts to think she likes him. They've known each other, what, 3 weeks, tops? And none of that time was spent dating, she just kissed him, thought, "I think I like him" and proposed to him. Stupid. They tried to make it a typical female fantasy, but in all reality, who actually wants to marry someone they haven't even gotten to know?

Recycling
linaljp18 June 2018
Lifetime recycling Hallmark's scripts from movies they released in 2012. About 50% of the dialog is word for word from "A bride for christmas". Too bad, it's a good cast, which could have been good with a original script. Still needs mentioning until change happens, it's lacking in diversity, both ethnicity and sexual orientation. In "A bride for christmas" at least the sister was gay.

Nothing positive to say
katlivengood25 April 2019
The writing was horrible. The cast, while attractive, had no chemistry. The whitewashing was unbearable. This movie is sad with a healthy dose of tragic.

Gotta Love Romance
krysamor13 November 2019
It was definitely a feel good movie...in the same ballpark as How to Lose a Guy in 10 days...

If you're a hopeless romantic like me, you'd love it!

It's a copy of A Bride For Christmas.
bigskydolphin9 November 2021
Like almost an exact copy. Some of the script is exactly the same. The plot is almost exactly the same. I actually watched this one first and would've rated it maybe a 7, since I like cheesy Hallmark-type movies. But then I started watching A Bride For Christmas and I got really confused as to why they were the same. The other one was made first. Why was this movie even made at all? I understand using the same plot point of a bet but seriously, some of the lines are exactly the same. I don't understand.

Bad and Cringeworthy
vmarkiet30 May 2019
I am about half way into this movie. And I can not watch anymore. The dialogue is so bad and inane. And the very contrived and cliched scenes are insulting. Simple bad filmmaking: a yoga class is in the middle of doing an eagle pose...just one? ..and then all of a sudden the female lead says "Namaste. Thank you for coming". Yoga classes don't flow, or end like that. And this is one of many examples that come across as cheap and sloppy storytelling, that is all over the place in this film. Each scene is filled with cheesy, cringeworthy dialogue. I am a full romantic. But I just can not with this film. Strong thumbs down.
