Wow what a silly attempt to justify Dana Delany's character actions toward the end
strobert-imdb31 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The bar scene where she claims it is just her job was so silly on behalf of the writers to try and make Dana 's character not come off as the uncaring vindictive win at all costs that other parts of the episode demonstrated.

I could have bought it is they had handled the cps scene differently. To call them right in the middle of the trial? The show said she knew beforehand about the treatment for the kid. So calling them then on the eve of the mom's testimony was a fairly obvious ploy to skew the trial. Likely violating the canons of ethics. Shoot if they wanted to show justice they would have had the defense tell the judge what happened first thing in the morning in a side bar. Had the judge make the prosecutor own up to it and have the judge admonish her for trying to unfairly impact the defense team and the defendant mid trial. The way the writers wrote it up really portrayed the prosecutor as quite mean spirited.

The no one else would take the case so I had to it was my duty would have been believable had other scenes not demonstrated the win at all costs attitude. You can do your duty and fight for a conviction. But to head into grey areas on the rules to try and win, shows not just a conviction to duty but a personal drive to win at all costs ignoring the professional ethics attorneys are supposed to be bound by. The end scene makes it clear they wanted to show her character as not mean spirited but the cps incident and the timing mid trial made it a bit tough to fully buy.

Episode itself wasn't bad. Obvious the writers and producers wanted to portray the drug debate in a certain light by the particulars of the case. Non brain impacting variant. Defendant a doctor and a mom helping her sick kid, etc. but other than a few scenes overall a decent episode. The typical feel good spirit the show tends to convey. That there can be justice in the legal system.
