James Gang - "Funk #49" AWESOME!
lfreepartner22 November 2020
One my favorite things in this show is how the actors - especially Olsen and Ruah - deliver dialogue while training/jogging/cycling. I sincerely hope they nail it on the first take. I also like the ridiculous shoot-outs but this episode has the James Gang's "Funk #49" playing through the final gun-play. It also had outside music in the teaser. As this was the first time of many for director Yangzom Brauen and NCIS: LA, I look forward to more excellent episodes from her and the gang. After all, the "J" in LL Cool J does stand for "James." Some reviewers criticized the "soapy" banter from G/Sam and Denzi, but allllllll crime dramas attempt wit with the storylines at hand and no one bats a thousand.

Venganza

Warning: Spoilers
The ending with Anastasia and tackling the subject of police shootings is a subject I would like the program to explore. Unfortunately, they didn't delve too deep into it and the episode itself was nothing to write home about.

Hopefully the season finale is a step up.

A lot of wasted time
The first four minutes, following the cast intro, is pure soap opera style b.s. having nothing to do with the story line. Not long after that Callen and Sam waste another two minutes in the car talking about .... cobblers. And then a little while later Kensi and Deeks spend about 2 minutes of useless b.s. talking about....their wedding. Okay, I know government employees waste time talking b.s. every day. But when you only have about 40 minutes of story time available you shouldn't be writing 8 minutes of soap opera dialogue.

Anna says goodbye to Callen
ninahoo26 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After Callen ghosted Anna for so long, he shows up when he is to testify before ATF IA about Anna shooting an unarmed bad guy. They talk but at the end of the talk, Anna says goodbye to Callen. Thought that coupled with Callen ghosting her was the final breakup. Hopefully it is. They are a sad couple and should not be together at all. They both deserve to be happy but with someone else instead it's like trying to get blood out of a turnip. Ain't going to work. Enough of this sadness, Callen has had enough grief in his life, he doesn't need more from her. Maybe a new girlfriend will happen in future, one can only hope.

A slower episode
moov_e_c_er24 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The opening I got confused on character names and honestly had zero memory of the first one killed (I binge watched again from episode one season 1). The after opening credits with now agent hiding behind plastic garbage cans was absolute garbage (she should have had many holes in her and died in Callen or Sam's arms). The filler banter about cobblers was just dumb as Sam is always more connected to specialists and the comment about custom fit scuba gear was simply a bad joke - there is multiple previous seasons showing Lange takes care of the outfits for undercover and that suggests Sam wouldn't go off to some tailor for his personal use. I found this episode rather boring with of course great scenery compared to others. Also Mosley character was too strict and very off putting to everyone at first, then started to open up, then the random drops of "might split up the team" throughout the season felt like a lazy tease by the writers.
