This may not be at the strength of Nest of Vipers or Knife Edge but it's still an enjoyable one.
It's quite obvious that Alan Cumming's teenage Jaime is not the killer but the reveal is not. Although there are some hints in the dialogue.
Stuart Hepburn's portrayal of Kenny and the end of his police career is also well performed as he tries to close the case. (It's a nice touch in storyline Funeral Rites when Taggart mentions his "rigged evidence on one of my cases" (or words simiar) ).
The indoor scenes are quite cheap looking, esp with the murdered couple's house. The furniture looks of poor quality compared to the money they have and there is mention that the wife liked to spend. However this was the mid eighties and the outdoor scenes make up for it.
