Series started off good, but then...

Warning: Spoilers
These impulsive, thoughtless kids, Kinsey in particular. The more the story goes on, the more irritating and reckless she becomes. She's freely sharing the magic with kids she's known all of 5 minutes, yet won't make any effort to connect with her mother. It doesn't make for good drama. I'm only half thru the season, but I hope she gets humbled and taken down to a more tolerable level, stat!

Bode

Warning: Spoilers
Storyline is really good Bode's character is a little screamy shouty - I have no idea what his idea of being a ghost to see if his mom saw him was for. It wasted time. I don't get Tyler's problem, he couldn't sleep with his girlfriend but can sleep with well lady (he doesn't know is well lady) ?!

It's becoming exhausting.
Thor989 February 2020
You know a story is badly written, when the plot progresses only because every single main character does inexplicably dumb things and always makes the obviously wrong decisions--again and again and again.

Almost all problems the characters have to deal with could be solved by just talking and listening to each other and not telling lies half of the time.

The siblings' actions aren't relatable even in the slightest, nor are those of the mother or even the police (especially in this episode).

How would you react if you found the keys? And what would you do with them? Think about it and compare it to what the main characters do. Now you know why it's badly written.

Getting weary
bsimpson1899 February 2020
As the series progresses it gets more and more weary. Ever since Kinsey "killed" her fear she has been obnoxious and annoying. The series is losing its luster.

WHY??
arizonaangels21 February 2020
Okay, I clearly missed something to get why Tyler is being such a jerk right now. It seemed like a good story but Kinsey was annoying me all through already. Yeah, she killed her fear but what the hell happened to her brain, logic and just gdamn common sense. They all should've been working together but all family values apparently went out the window when dad kicked the bucket. And why is nobody trying to find out more about the history of these keys and the house and the family they just learnt they had? Someone must have known something about them, written it down or made them. I'll keep going for the sake of possible answers but I am not sure this is gonna be the hit ending leading to a 2nd season

Started off good, but now it's getting more and more irritating.

Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to understand any of these characters and their behavior. They rarely talk to each other, even after finding out that there are magical keys in the house and that an evil being is trying to get a hold of them! It's like this family doesn't even live in the same friggin' house! They all do irrational things. Tyler was likable, but now we couldn't care less about him. Kinsey became annoying after killing her fear, not to mention she risked her "friends'" lives because she's looking for the blue light. Why didn't she go into the bloody sea cave alone? Isn't she supposed to be "fearless" now? And Bode has always been loud and annoying from the start. The plot could've gone so differently, but of course, lazy writing didn't allow for that. Disappointed.

Intrigue Lost
forrestridler12 March 2020
This show grabbed my attention with a hint of a new and exciting magical world. Instead of using the intriguing premise to tell an interesting fantasy story, the show focuses on the same stupid teen drama plot lines we've seen over and over again. It's like This Is Us / Modern Family with way worse characters and a side of magical keys that nobody really cares about.

There's the woman, but I won't tell you.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is just ruined everything for me. The cave sequence is kinda forgivable, but the part about older brother and that evil woman... WTF, why the kid didn't tell NObody (especially his brother and sister) about how does that crazy woman looks like !??? After this, everybody became very stupid for me. And, at the beginning this series was very interesting. Sorry... disappointed.

As far as I need to go
pensman5 November 2021
Netflix has to stop using the word original so indiscriminately. This show has disintegrated into banal horror genre. All the characters lose all logic, even basic thinking skills. Instead of sitting down and talking to one another about basic questions (Where are the keys, what is the connection to the family, how, if at all, should they e used/) they just fumble around unleashing destruction and not worrying about it. The sets are nice though.
