After the incredibly good and powerful two series of Gundam Build Fighters, who were spiritual descendants of Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Gundam goes a step further, obeying the trend of "MMO animes".
Gundam Build Divers take place at GBN or Gundam Build Nexus, a mmo where gunpla users "dive" and their gunplas do not take damage anymore! It is the most kid friendly Gundam series to-date with some good fights, sweet characters, a lot of cool customised gunpla, but fails in the Gundam department. It is just another an average, generic mmo-ish anime, who could have anything else instead of gunpla and still have the same story arcs.
Perhaps its sequel will be better. But after the second, lame story arc, I have few hopes. It would be wiser to drop this concept entirely and give us more interesting series, in the ever-evolving Gundamverse.
If you are doing a Gundamthon, it is a cute epilogue, but nothing else. If you are searching for something to get into gunpla, begin from Build Fighters. It will definetely fire you up! And leave Divers as a dessert.
