Outward Bound
bobcobb30117 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
For an episode with zero wrestling, a show about wrestlers delivered its best episode of the season.

It got personal and deep and we saw that although it doesn't seem that way there are a lot of interesting characters on this show.

A well-done episode that was needed before the home stretch of the show's third year.

By far, the best episode of the series
larrydelacruzph9 August 2019
Usually, I don't like it when a show deviates from the format it's known for. It's a show about wrestlers, so wrestle. But five episodes into this season, I could tell this show needed to show something new. And this episode does exactly that.

It reveals so many facets of these remarkable characters, allowing them to grow, change, and mature in new and unexpected ways. It's touching, funny, heartfelt and eye opening. Well worth the watch.

Breakfast Club Episode
TheFearmakers21 September 2022
Basically The Breakfast Club. All the characters wind up in one place and get stoned and confess their true feelings, fears, and all that jazz... which isn't bad since these are good actresses, but they're written to try too hard to prove something we already know, without having to deliver long monologues to prove it... We didn't need any proof...

The characters are developing in this season from a total lack of urgency, and this episode where the girls go out camping in a rural spot away from Las Vegas isn't much different than Las Vegas is to So Cal, where the best seasons occurred, when the show was actually about wrestling...

Again, not a bad episode, but it seems this show is trying to apologize for itself, to its fans, who just... you know, like girls... wanna have fun.

Heavy handed
csoto-8644429 March 2021
I've enjoyed the show in general. This season was a bit odd as it is but I've enjoyed it. When I watched this one, I liked learning more about each character. They did that well. This episode just felt very heavy handed with how it handled race, genocide, and being gay in the 80s. The things that were experienced were completely legitimate, I just felt like you could have done better in a nuanced way.

Poor Episode of a Great Series
licktheenvelope16 August 2019
I have really enjoyed GLOW so far but this episode was just terrible.

A mix of very bizarre social messages tied into a ladies retreat and stereotypical characters being even more stereotypical.

Buttressed by very good episodes this one was a stinker and I'm sad they haven't given the side characters much more than social messaging.

Forced drama
Burgah9 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Without the main component of what the show is actually about (WRESTLING), the show just seems boring. Instead, there is a lot of meaningless forced drama between characters such as Jenny and Melrose about the whole racism thing from the previous episode when Melrose played the asian wrestler. Another example is about Arthie and not wanting to play Beirut and switching roles with the Baddies.

Doesn't feel like the normal GLOW at all now and just a sitcom with a bunch of girls who become offended by what everyone says to them for some reason in order to create drama and tension.

Disappointing Episode
Hawk_Jones30 May 2021
Extremely disappointing. After 3 and half wonderful seasons, the writers and director decided to take this beautifully diverse cast and turn them into prejudiced whiners.

I found the victim mentality displayed by these previously strong and well-developed characters to be completely off the mark and confusing. These are tough, strong characters who are suddenly offended at the slightest misinterpretation by their friends!!! I don't buy it. Hopefully, the rest of the season will go back to form.

What a stupid episode
roastedass12 September 2019
This show is supposed to be fun... this episode had absolutely nothing to offer except for a 40 minute lecture on social justice... the chinese girl is crying that she has to jump out of a fortune cookie every night and how her family died in some mass genocide....ok, well if you hate it so much then why did you sign up??? I hate when writers inject their social justice views when it has absolutely nothing to do with the show... what a stupid stupid episode

Forgettable. Easily avoidable episode.
housebeast5 March 2021
This episode has everything you did not want to see when you decided to watch the show. Blatantly forced drama, actors dragging the lines. You can literally feel their exaggerated expressions just to remind the viewer that they too jump on the train of current politics agenda. Horrible episode, skip it whole, nothing is redemable.

Not as bad as some of the drama-led episodes.
kfo949413 September 2019
So, right after the women have a great episode and we are left with many interesting questions, they decide to go on a camping trip. We are back to a show with no action that tries to deliver a message with a social commentary to make us feel all warm inside. However, this episode does nearly the opposite as it feels like a bucket of cold water has been applied by the writers of this episode. The show does feature a nice story that involves Shelia-the-she-wolf, wonderfully played by Gayle Rankin, as she make a decision that will effect her status as a human being. But the side story about the an Asian girl feeling hurt because she jumps out of a fortune cookie every night seems oddly planned. As if they just gave her a conflict so she could have some lines in the show. I mean she waits till she goes camping to all of the sudden feel violated? I have been very critical of the show drifting away from its roots to boring commentary about sad conflict, but at least this show had a reason for the dialog. Some good things and some poor things in the show. But overall this was better reason for a drama lead episode than was earlier in the season. But still would like to get back to the fun side of the series.

Why do writers inject propaganda into scripts?
pwolf-900-52863422 August 2019
When they do that, it's a tall tell sign that they've run out of creative material and have a deadline to meet. I get it. Show biz is a business. But at least have the balls not to put the quality of the show at risk.

For example, Jenny, the Asian wrestler played by Ellen Wong, goes through the episode carrying some fake anger stemming from racism, a highly overused and weaponized word today, but really a non-issue back in the 80s, especially in the Asian community which I know personally.

The show is great when it accurately depicts the 80s, but when the writers try to inject today's social issues, it just comes across as propaganda.
