Another baseball movie. How so many movies get made about the most boring sport on earth is beyond me, but there have been some good ones. The Natural, Bull Durham, and Field of Dreams are all great baseball movies, and this one tries. Told in flashback, an aging pitcher views his life while pitching what starts as a possible final game, and becomes a possible perfect game. While it conveys Ramis' obvious love of the game, there's no final punch which would give this movie the powerful ending needed to compete with the movies listed above. Kevin Costner is a great actor, though he has had some terrible flops. His character in For the Love of the Game is immediately likable, but difficult to empathize with. I was just happy there wasn't a little kid speaking like a forty year old in this one. You may love it if you can't get enough baseball, and I give the actors kudos for pulling off a pretty good movie.

Oh boy. Every review I've read has pretty much slammed this film for a variety of things. Well, I went to see it at 11 am on a saturday morning, and let me say this "Yipes". Had it been midnight, it couldn't have been any scarier. This movie, which has been besmirched by the catholic church, is a great flick. I loved it, and the people I was with loved it too. Though, if you're a choir boy, you might not want to see it. It took a very realistic possibility (the church trying to save itself, damn the truth), and made it a thriller with the most scary scenes, beautiful photography, and good acting. I'd give this film no lower than a 7. See it with an open mind.

I loved this movie when I saw it the first time a long time ago, and loved it again recently. Depardieu and Richard really are the Laurel and Hardy of french films, and this movie has a whistled song line that will not leave your head for years. A must see, especially if you saw the remake "Father's Day" which used the greatest comic talents in american film, and still didn't come close to the original.

I was ready to be scared silly, and paid my price for just that. But after a good portion of the film, I had already decided that I was going to give this film two thumbs down, and I even kind of liked Hudson Hawk! HOWEVER, without giving away any clues, let me say that I completely changed my mind in the last 15 minutes of the flick, and decided it was a surprisingly good story. I usually go in expecting the 'twists' and hate predictable movies, but this one is a pretty well crafted piece. Kudos to the film makers, and I recommend this one if you're ready for a slightly slow-to-unfold drama.

When I saw the ratings and the comments listed for this movie, I wasn't sure that this was the movie I saw last night! If you're looking for a history lesson on the fall of Synex, read a book. If you're looking for an edge of your seat thriller, with no violence at all, and hilarious breaks in the tension, this is your flic. First, Ewan McGregor is becoming one of my top actors. His portrayal of a cool-as-a-cucumber trader, even under incredible stress is delightful. You can't help but be nervous as Nick Leeson dodges bosses, controllers, and his wife. The level of the stress is clearly portrayed, and his fantasy scenes are great. The other actors are shallow, but hilarious. Enjoy this flic. I did.

Ok, as a film, it was as good as most adaptations, leaving out some motivations, character developments and intelligent discourse. But as a thought, this movie is fantastic. So much intelligence packed into one film, it makes you wonder why Jodie Foster isn't picked for every intelligent female lead role - Oh, never mind, she is. Anyway, I love the fact that there are still minds out there capable of thinking rationally, and wish that the fantastic mind that created this movie were still with us. See it, you'll love it, even if you believe God created man in 7 days.

I happened to catch this sleeper late at night, but it kept me awake through the entire movie. With a fairly well cast group, I was surprised not to have ever heard of this movie, but if you can deal with the love/romance/cheese theme, this movie is for you. A bit of a chick-flick, it actually keeps you interested in the plot, which I was worried would be ultra predictable. If you get a chance, it is, no doubt, a movie that will touch your sentimental side. See it if you can...

Eye-popping visual effects make a fairly good plot line into a pretty good movie! I hate Keanu, but after having heard about the visual effects in this movie, I had to go see for myself. I found myself looking around the theater during the action sequences, and seeing the faces of the crowd in disbelief as the dork from Bill & Ted's becomes somehow hip in this movie. From the beautifully choreographed fighting to the millions of chips of materials flying around each and every bullet, this picture is worth the cost of admission.
