Too much hubris from the author
10 May 2024
I just finished listening to Bart Sibrel being interviewed on the Joe Rogan Experience where he makes constant reference to this documentary "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon". A lot of the stuff covered in the podcast also was covered in this documentary or as I put it one man's personal opinion put on film.

I have no axe to grind either way but what I immediately got from the interview was Bart's inability to see alternative theories to his conspiracy ideas. The videos shot, the photos showing shadows of the astronauts on the moon, the Van Allen radiation belt and the challenges that presents to astronauts. Every one of his examples showing why he thinks we didn't land on the moon had plausible arguments as to why these were legit.

Mr Sibrel is so dogged in his assessment and so certain in his beliefs that it has clearly blinded him to seeing alternative reasons.

He would show film or photos of elements of the conspiracy and then spout off why this meant the moon landing was fake. However, when you looked at the footage or photos it was difficult to understand where he was coming from. Even JR's producer would chime in and go "well actually there could be other reasons why there are multiple shadows at different angles present on the moon such as..... but Bart wouldn't admit this. He would simply double down and talk over everyone. He is not open to other explanations at all. Some of his arguments just don't stack up. He interprets events as proof we didn't land on the moon when in actual fact there are reasonable explanations for his conspiracy theories.

The podcast and this documentary simply painted Bart as being full of hubris and arrogance with zero ability to see things from another perspective or admit that there could be plausible explanations for his conspiracy theories. His attitude is one of...." I am right about everything always and I am smarter than everyone else on". His views on inter dimensional beings (being a common explanation for aliens) from another "plane or dimension" appearing on earth tends to undermine his credibility simply because of how he verbally frames things. A man that isn't open to admitting he could be wrong about something and that he is 100% correct inevitably is found out to be mistaken. Noting is known for certain and nothing Bart presented convinced me 100% we didn't land on the moon.

There was a lot of hearsay and third party secrets which would never stack up in a court of law.

I would be more open to his ideas if he didn't try to overcompensate. As I see it there are three reasons for his overcompensation.

Firstly, a man who has spent most of his entire adult life with one belief system would find it incomprehensibly difficult to then change his mind and admit he was wrong (this is a natural human emotion called pride). As an aside to this, human psychology, as it is, means people tell themselves something long enough and they start to believe their own bullsh.t even if they're incorrect, simply because to suddenly change their mind would result in a catastrophic breakdown in their own self.

Secondly there is an economic benefit to stay on course.

Thirdly I believe this man has an axe to grind with NASA, the US Government and the CIA which has clouded his judgement.

Did we land on the moon? I am 80% convinced we did.

More female nonsense
8 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
You can tell this was written and directed by a woman. Self righteous condescending hypocritical female characters portrayed as wonderful human beings. We have a guy that leaves his wife as he isn't happy. He is portrayed as sad, lonely and an a-hole for leaving and the neighbours all pile into him for it. You just know that if it was the wife who did the leaving she would be portrayed as finding herself amid some sort of midlife relevations that she deserves to be happy. The irony is the wife was cheating on the husband for 2 years prior to him leaving. No apology , no remorse nothing. So she turns out to be a scumbag but she is still portrayed as the victim. No plot, just a slice of life movie which seem to be growing in popularity. Slow with some unrealistic character motivations.

Typical character tropes
21 February 2024
The issue for me is credibility. There are very little positive things to say about Ambika Mod's character Emma. Frequently she looks to belittle, sarcastically scold and criticize Dexter. From the get go of their initial meeting she is judgemental and a bit of a dick. I cant see any reasonable person wanting to spend any time with a person like this. I cant see someone like Dexter being attracted to her. Even on a strictly superficial basis this relationship would not fly. Emma is not in Dexters league. Of course in today's woke, inclusive ridiculousness that society has become the writers made Emma's character an ethnic minority to appease all the special interest groups. This is not the main problem though. The issue for me is how unlikeable her character is around Dexter. When Dexter isnt in the frame I actually start to relate to Emma and Ambika does a good job although she would do well to ease off on the doom and gloom. Does she ever smile?

Of course the writers/directors want to portray Dexter in a bad a light as possible because he is male and white. It is dejour to be highly critical of white males and men in general. Where have all the good role models gone? Dexter is portrayed as a playboy living his best life who is somewhat selfish. Since when is it a problem to enjoy your youth? If it was a woman acting like Dexter this would be classified as being empowering.

I enjoyed the movie significantly more . Not so judgemental.

Fox means well but....
29 April 2023
The chances of intelligent life existing outside of earth are so infinitesimally small. The number of criteria that need to happen for life to exist is beyond comprehension. Fermi's paradox sums it up nicely when he made the now famous statement to friends at lunch. "if aliens exist then where is everybody?" i.e. If life is so easy we should have seen aliens front and centre by now. Have you ever noticed that supposed aliens always appear in the most remote regions, late at night or in deserts or wherever most people arent. The photogrpahs are always hazy or over or under exposed or far away. The images are never good. How strange! Why are they not landing in Times Square or in Picaddilly Circus , getting off their space craft and coming and introducing themselves? Why? Because they dont exist. I wish they did but they dont. James Fox means well and he desperately wants to believe we have aliens visiting us because that would mean we are not alone in this infinite universe. Unfortunately nothing in this doc persuades me otherwise. There is always a logical explanation for why these phenomena happen. People are inherently unreliable witnesses and/or are usually full of sh.t. Think of the number of innocent men that are in prisons based on eye witness testimony that turns out to be full of holes. Why would aliens have the same shape as humans? It's ridiculous and yet people will believe it. When aliens land in the middle of a city in full view of everyone then I will believe it.

One sided disappointing pseudo documentary
15 April 2021
Unfortunately ABC's Caro Meldrum-Hanna has put together a very one sided biased investigation obviously trying to paint the narrative of Keli Lane as being innocent. However she fails to address one major issue:

Why wouldn't Andrew Morris ( or Andrew Norris depending on Keli's memory) have come forward with baby Tegan if he actually existed? So we are left to assume this Andrew Norris person is either completely unaware that Keli is rotting in jail or he has some sort of grudge against her and so wants to punish her for some unknown reason. It's nonsense!

Keli is proven to be a compulsive liar, despite the female expert supposedly saying otherwise. Her story doesn't add up. The people that believe she is innocent are the same people who think Schpaelle Corby isn't a drug smuggler.

Did she get a fair trial? That's a fair question. Is she guilty? Absolutely no doubt . Females tend to believe that other females cannot do bad things so they look for any reason(s) to assume innocence even when it is obvious this person is telling major lies and is hiding something.

The Big Short (2015)

Oh the irony
14 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this movie even if it made me feel somewhat uneasy. Any film, doc or book that explains how the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) occurred I tend to be interested in.

My main issue with the movie is that it portrays that main protagonists as heroes but the reality is they profited from the collapse of the financial system and all the pain it subsequently caused. The irony is that the credit default swaps (CDS) that they purchased (essentially going short on the collateralised debt obligations (CDOs)) were a main cause of the collapse of some of the big financial institutions. By purchasing CDS s they were essentially betting that the mortgage instruments (CDOs) would fail . Of course once the big banks got wind of what was going on and began to realise how bad these sub prime mortgage instruments were they started furiously buying the very same credit default swaps.Subsequently once the CFC occurred large institutions such as Lehman Brothers failed as they couldn't make good on all the credit default swaps they had sold.

I feel the movie glossed over this aspect so its main characters came out looking like they took on the big banks for the little man. This was never the case. They did it for their own benefit pure and simple and this money stayed in their own pockets along with their investors.

Apart from this it was well acted, good story line if somewhat slow in parts. A solid 7 out of 10

The Force is not so strong in this one
17 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
First off I really wanted to like this movie. After the prequel disasters I thought finally we are in line for some redemption.Unfortunately this wasn't the case.

The negatives. I get the feeling the casting director was instructed to get a younger Keira Knightley but with less chin. That is exactly what we got with Daisy Ridley who plays Rey. A carbon copy right down to the smile, accent, laugh and look. Her acting was marginal. Everything was condensed down into one look i.e.a permanent scowl. Also the last 20 years has seen the annoying trend where we have this never ending quest for equality and in the process we are turning our men into women and our women into men. I am never going to believe a 55 kg woman can kick the ass of a 100 kg man or even a 70 kg man. Why can't we embrace our differences. Women are not as strong, fast or co ordinated as men but they have their own strengths. In Star Wars episode IV Carrie Fisher played a strong woman without requiring the audience to suspend belief.I guess we have to cater to the various womens groups and feminists. Yawn.

Speaking of episode IV (the original Star Wars in 1977) did we just enter a time warp? We had the exact same story line in TFA as we did back in 1977. Talk about lazy writing. Surely JJ Abrams could have come up with something original? Disappointed.

Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver. Started off promising but then developed into this uncertain, unsure insecure weeble beaten by a woman who had never picked up a light saber in her life. He should have kept the mask on. It went downhill from there. The prequels were crap but the one redeeming feature was that bad ass Darth Maul. Now that is a kick ass dude I could relate to not. Even Darth Vader was a mean as bast..d! Speaking of never picking up a light saber. How can an ex Storm Trooper and a never used the force before woman with no sword fighting experience suddenly hold their own in a light saber duel against a Sith like Kylo Ren? As we know from Episode 1 future Jedis can only be trained from birth. In this movie we have a 23 year old woman who suddenly starts using the force and a light saber like she has been doing it all her life. In reality someone who has never used a sword before up against a master would be slaughtered within two moves. Not in this movie.

I feel like JJ Abrams is turning into the next Michael Mann . All style and no substance. Good effects but everything else is forgotten.

No real character development. No real chemistry between Rey and Finn. If you want to see chemistry between the two leads. Watch Episode IV with Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher

Now for the good points

Han Solo..great as usual. Always held his own apart from when some little girl told him how to fly his ship. Something he has been doing all his life. Hollywood stop catering to feminists and all their bullshit!

C3PO had the best line of the film.

Great special effects but this is to be expected.

I read another reviewer who said Kylo Ren's light saber sucked. I couldn't disagree more. I loved it! It was great symbolism in action. Rough, unwavering, edgy, unforgiving. Everything I would have loved to have seen from Kylo himself instead of the limp wristed character we got.Bring back Darth Maul! Overall I came away unsatisfied and empty. I hope the next episode will put things right. Come on JJ get a decent script going and make Kylo Ren the bad ass mother that he should be.

Lets hope Luke Skywalker brings something decent to the table in the next film.

what is all the bitching about?
14 November 2013
From what I can tell all the negative comments about this movie stem from the fact the book is far superior and that the movie doesn't do it justice. I have not read this particular book but I have read many other Tom Wolfe novels and he writes some damn good yarns so it is not surprising the movie isn't as good. It can be hard to translate a good piece of fiction into a comparably good movie.

All I can say is that I laughed out loud in a lot of parts and admired the movie for what it is. A very good piece of satire. This movie had all the main elements of a society in decay and shows the true nature of the majority of people. Mankind is ultimately out for themselves and people will do what they can to get ahead no matter who they have to step on to get there even if it means lying and causing grief to innocent people. The amount of pretentious prats in this movie reminds of many people I know. This movie had it down pat when it came to showing the exact nature of politicians. They really don't care. They just want to get re-elected so they can keep their snouts in the public trough.

So don't listen to all the nay sayers on here this is a very good movie and will have you entertained for a couple of hours. In reality this movie is a 6.5 to 7.0 but I rated it an 8 to provide some compensation for all the harsh critics on here.

Never Let me watch this movie again
5 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The theme in this movie has been done before in The Island with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson albeit The Island was more realistic, as strange as that may seem and of course in The Island the clones didn't know that they were intended to be harvested for their organs unlike the characters in this film.

Yes everyone posting positive reviews waxes lyrical about the sublime acting and imagery which you cannot deny however with a plot so full of holes it is hard to not just start screaming at the screen.

Are we really to believe that with no obvious guards, access to motor vehicles and the ability to come and go as they please the clones don't just up and leave their cottages thus avoiding their horrible fate? Give me strength. I am all for suspending belief in certain genres of movies but only where it merits this such as silly action or over the top sci-fi movies.

But no our actors believe that the only way out is to defer the inevitable by proving their love for each other and thus delaying their fate by three to four years. So no one fights, no one escapes and and everyone behaves like sheep.

I would have marked this movie about a five but marked lower to counter the crazy seven rating this film received in IMDb obviously predominantly by females who no doubt fall for the soppy story line in droves because lets face it females are suckers for this kind of dribble especially when actors can cry on cue.

Are you kidding me
7 January 2009
OK I have never seen this movie in its entirety but all I can say is that myself and a bunch of other movie goers saw the extended shorts while going to watch another movie and without exception as soon as the shorts were finished the whole cinema erupted in laughter. Not because the movie was intentionally funny but more due to it being so ludicrous.

Hey so I could be wrong here but I very much doubt it. Yet the scary part is that I know there will be a market out there for this movie. When I logged on to see the rating I was expecting 2 or 3 stars but for it to get over 6.0...AMAZING

left with an empty feeling
3 July 2008
Well I guess I was expecting more from this movie like maybe a decent plot and storyline. The special effects were great despite the fact I was sitting in the front row which I am sure detracted from the overall experience.

Still both myself and my partner left the theatre going "is that it". There were obvious questions like how did the three bad guys escape from prison? It was almost as if these guys were thrown together in the movie as an after thought like the director went "we need some bad guys , OK I know lets get the dude from the bank and team him up with the other bad guys from the prison". There was no real cohesiveness there at all.

It just left you wanting more

Mildly Entertaining
21 June 2008
A friend of mine got this out on DVD one night so I had the opportunity to watch it because I would never have paid to go see it at the movies nor rent it out myself because I am very over this kind of Blair Witch hand held jumping around camera genre mainly because I find it so totally annoying.

My apprehension was proved right as I was annoyed a mere 30 seconds into the movie but I sat tight due to my friend supplying wine and chocolate and I thought it would be rude to drink, eat and then bail. The whole shaky camera, omitting specifics, cutting to other shots at crucial moments just grates me :) It is the easy way out. I wont go into specifics as I am sure there are plenty of other comments that can supply this detail.

It is interesting reading the "train spotters" comments in the FAQ section. I mean what is the sense in having to slow a scene down frame by frame in super slow mo just to actually work out how a particular character dies??? Even after seeing the footage on you You Tube it is still virtually impossible to tell how the character meets his fate. So why even bother to include this? Also no explanation is given at the beginning of the movie as to why the tape is being played for us, the audience by the defense department. It just starts playing. Seriously??? I guess I have outgrown this kind of movie long ago but I know it will appeal to kids, teenagers and those who refuse to grow up. They can go ooh and ah and then try work out all the freaky little details that have been omitted by the director and writers.

Comsistently Good
18 May 2008
I can't believe all the negative comments this movie received. I read 5 of them and they all had the same theme. Keanu Reeves was no good and Rachel Weisz was fantastic and saved the movie and lastly the script sucked. It was almost like these comments came off an assembly line. Ignore them they do not know what they are talking about. The true situation here is we have a lot of Keanue haters with no originality in their comments at all.

The movie was entertaining, intelligent, with crisp dialogue. Keanue did a solid job as did Rachel however I reserve my best praise for Peter Stormare who played Satan. I watched this movie twice just for his scene which had me laughing and had me somewhat on the edge of my seat knowing he is capable of very bad things and at any moment could let loose which is exactly what was intended. Tilda Swinton did a believable job as Gabriel, in fact I cannot fault anyone in this movie.

I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone unless of course you do not like Keanue in which case he could give an Oscar winning performance in any movie and you would not like it so do yourself a favour and do not bother to rent this DVD.

I would normally rate this movie about a 7 (about 3 points higher than any comic book adaption I have seen apart from Batman Begins, everything else is crap). I gave it a 10 to counter the idiots on here who wouldn't recognise an entertaining movie to save themselves.

Seen it all before
2 May 2008
The movie is somewhat of a cliché as we have been there done that in so many other movies. Demi is essentially playing a role identical to that which her ex in real life Bruce Willis has played in any number of past movies...cue "The Last Boy Scout"...loner hard nose cop, likes to do things own unique way, has an ex spouse who they are constantly doing battle with as a sideline sub plot. The only diff here is that Demi cannot pull it of as I just can't buy Demi as a tough as nails take no prisoners detective.

The main plot/storyline/character development is also very familiar...oh wait I know "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS". Put a modern twist on it with the main protagonist not quite so into the blood and guts sicko perverted type of killing and hey presto.

Seen it all before.

Also not noticing the curtains are open in the bedroom before the main killing...are you kidding? In addition to this the script writer/director would have us believe that the person who sees the first killings occur through the window just happens to have a morbid fascination for killing as well and so does not go to the cops. Are their that many sick people in this world? I hope not.

Liked it for the most part
10 April 2008
Well acted, well directed and a pretty good script. I enjoy watching Hopkins and Gosling is really coming into his own. The storyline was quite smart with a good twist re the weapon scenario.

The movie had me hoping Crawford (Hopkins) would get off as I felt sympathy for him due to his wife having an affair. In my book there really isn't an excuse for this behaviour although shooting someone due to this type of indiscretion is a bit over the top :) Where I felt the movie let itself down was at the end where Crawford, who plans things down to the minute detail, slips up over the last hurdle which was quite an obvious one. In my mind Crawford is the sort of guy that wouldn't be caught out by this obvious point.

Kudos to Cliff Curtis although they didn't give his character much punch.

Awful
5 April 2008
B grade acting, slow moving, seen it all before genre/storyline/effects/bad guys/good guy/good guy gets girl/good guy saves the day.

Something I probably would have enjoyed when I was 12. That's what you get when you let friends, who still haven't quite matured with their movie tastes, choose movies for you.

The movie tries hard but it fails miserably on all levels. The bad guys (these are the ones who frown continually so you know they are baddies) predictably get wasted one by one by the good guy( he's the one that frowns really hard at the end so you know he is very angry but in the interim has bouts of compassion, tenderness and not so angry frowning). I am filling in here to get the necessary 10 lines for the review.

Decidedly Average
27 March 2008
I rented this movie as I love history. I had not heard of this made for TV movie and so based on past experience (ie when movies have no reviews or decent advertising campaigns or they go straight to DVD)I did not hold out much hope for it.

Unfortunately I was proved right. Whilst I give full marks to the wonderful settings and locations which were extremely good the acting was poor with no apparent eye to detail. It seemed the movie was rushed and what started out as a potentially good premise soon had me cringing. I battled through because I wanted to know more about the adventures of Polo. I have since looked him up on Wikipedia so something positive came out of it :) The person responsible for casting Dennehy as Khan needs to be fired.I thought Khan was from Mongolia and was oriental? It was laughable. Also ethnic Chinese who speak fluent English with an American accent just doesn't cut it. This doesn't make sense when other Chinese characters in the movie spoke speak Mandarine/Cantonese with no sub titles.

I am assuming their were liberal interpretations of the truth as to historical accuracy but then most supposedly true stories do this as well so I don't have any issues there.

Had so much potential but sadly let down. I guess the production ran out of money.

Lost 102 mins of my life
13 March 2008
Completely overrated. I walked out feeling numb thinking what was Bill Murray's character complaining about? Oh no I am making a advert for I product I have no affinity with away from my home town but making squillions doing it! Puleeese, do you know how many people in this world would give both arms for this sort of lifestyle? Instead Bob wants to make me kill myself because life is so depressing with no significant meaning.

The character needs to get over himself. As for Johanssons character, a young girl in a new city in a new country. FANTASTIC...most people would be thrilled to get an experience like this. No she has to mope around the hotel being bored...her character shows no imagination what soever.

It comes down to me not empathising with the characters situation at all or even caring about them on any level. By the end of the movie I was begging for someone to make it stop! I cant fault the acting or direction just the nonsense story. I gave it a 3 just to counter balance all the blow hards who gave it a 10 because all the critics raved about it.

Citizen Yawn
14 February 2008
First off please let me explain that I do not get off on the usual American drivel such as Spider Man, Fantastic Four, X Men, or anything else that uses special effects to blanket a poor script and sh.t story with no plot.

I like movies with an edge, that are original with superb acting, great script and direction (that may or may not be art house movies), that have a message to tell:) I have tried to watch this movie twice (I admit I was very young on the fist occasion and then in my 20 s on the second occasion) and on both sittings I could not get past the first 15 mins. Somebody make it stop!!! I contemplated slashing my wrists to see if I was still alive but thought this may be a tad excessive.

I have given this movie a 2 and not a 1 as I am going to give this "masterpiece???" one more chance to see if I can establish one glimmer of hope to see why everyone is verbally masturbating over it.

A good movie but not great
24 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie apart from a couple of key points that really detracted from the overall quality.

The story picks up mid way through a chase in the snowy Nevada mountains. We do not know who is being chased nor who is doing the chasing nor do we know why. Motives are slowly revealed throughout the nearly two hour running time. Until then it is up to the viewer to decide who to root for (typically human nature will mean we always go for the underdog which is inevitably the person being hunted).

The cinematography is excellent and the landscapes outstanding. The plot is deliberately simple as this is not a movie with endless twists and turns although the chase leads us from mountains to lowlands through railway camps, pilgrims to desert.

One of the messages here is an age on old one namely the futility of revenge with the two protagonists eventually forming a bond without necessarily becoming friends.

Where I feel the movie falls down is a couple of key areas such as Gideon leaving his only means of transport namely his horse at a campsite in the mountains with a fire going for his chasers to find. Sure leave the campsite and watch your pursuers from afar but you would never leave your horse..that just does not make sense.

Also at the end when Carver is shot but then miraculously gets up and walks away....what the f..k??? Maybe bullets back in the 1860's only tickled. What was the director thinking?

Lastly throwing in a random Indian philosopher at the waterhole, well just didn't quite fit in and seemed a bit contrived or maybe a space filler.

Apart from that Brosnan and Neeson did a bang up job.

Where are the girls??
15 November 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Enough people have waxed lyrical about this film so I will lay of the heavy dissection. As young surfer growing up in on the North Shore of Auckland New Zealand I can fully appreciate the sentiments around "the locals only" culture but never to the extent as portrayed here.

A good movie for the footage of some heavy duty surfing on some out of control breaks. The Abberton brothers and crew have large kahunas I will give them that.

You can almost taste the biased portrayal of the murder of the Hinds character. You would think that he deserved his fate and Jai & Koby were angels from heaven come to deliver the world from this evil menace. Unfortunately most kids in the Maroubra community will now come to think of these brothers as heroes for killing another human being be it an act of self defence or intentional. It is never okay to take a another persons life even if you came from the worst possible family environment possible.

One last point...where are all the females?? Apart from the grandmother their seems to be a heavy underlying gay tone. Even in the group scenes their is a total distinct lack of female presence. I would have got out of there for that reason alone ha ha

It deserves a better rating .....
30 October 2007
Despite the somewhat lame ending (Terry Zwigoff took the easy way out) I really enjoyed this movie. I continuously laughed throughout the beginning and mid sections however it lost its way a little bit towards the end.

What I enjoyed most was the movie's ability to poke fun at the art world which takes itself so seriously. One man's bullshit is another's "Picasso". Lets face it this industry is very subjective and people will say something is good as long as people of stature in the art world say it is so. W a n k w a n k!! Jerome, played by Max Minghella, made you want to run up and slap him a dozen times he was so annoyingly precious and wimpy with respect to woman/life but yet he had the balls to point out the ridiculousness of his fellow students work while others orally masturbated and waxed lyrical over some piece of crap.

Some better character development of his two roommates especially the Mathew would have been good however there were so many other characters to deal with and so this was understandable.

John Malkovich was great as was Anjelica Huston even if she was on screen for just one scene. Ethan Suplee did an admirable job as the wannabe film maker finding his way via his first independent film.

Overall loved it and would recommend it to anyone who can see the subtle digs and messages Terry throws at us for what they are.

Disappointed
5 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
What initially started out as a visual effects and directorial master piece turned into a semi B grade ending leaving you with the big question mark hanging as to why a perfectly good movie was ruined.

I am a fan of Cliff Curtis from his humble beginnings and he has never let me down in any movie including this one. Biased because I am a kiwi too :) All the actors gave good performances. It was the screen play and directing at the end of the movie that let the movie down.

I was a little like "you are kidding right" when we are lead to believe that a scientist/crew member forgot to allow for the SUN when changing the course of the ship and hence the heat shield was not also adjusted resulting in some damage to the shield itself which led to a whole series of problems.

However this was minor compared to what happened later in the movie.

Little things like why would Cappa, upon finding out their was a fifth unknown person on board, go running to the observation deck to confront this person and yet not bother tell any of his other crew mates to get some "backup". That would be the first thing anyone with any intelligence would do. HELLO this is what happens in lame B Grade horror flicks when upon entering the haunted house everyone immediately splits up to be predictably picked off one by one...yawn.

Oh and what possible explanation was their for Pinbacker only being displayed in a wavy, hazy double image type way apart from covering up hopeless special effects on his burned beyond recognition body??? Also towards the end the storyline was disjointed and you didn't know how characters got from one scenario to the next.

Overall I still enjoyed it and would recommend this movie as long as you make some allowances.

Crap
2 September 2007
I don't care if this show is suppose to be communicating profound messages about human existence.

The show is crap....how can anyone derive pleasure from watching it? Yet it was received so well. This reflects a sad state of affairs for Joe Moron out there.

I tried watching this program when it first came out as friends were talking about it. The inane laughing between the two main characters and the pitiful dialog made me want to cry.

It is beyond belief that people can watch this show. Yet I guess the creators had the last laugh....making themselves wealthy by taking the p.ss out of the very people that would watch a show such as this.

I would wager they are laughing all the way to the bank.

Didn't live up to its promise

Warning: Spoilers
After reading great reviews on this movie I was disappointed in the end result. Probably due to this genre of comedy having been done so many times before in the last 3 - 4 years. Kinnear and Carell were good to watch as per usual.

Dwaynes scene where he discovers he is color blind and the ensuing reaction is predictable.

The most disturbing part of this movie is watching 5 - 8 year old girls with full makeup, sprayed on hair and revealing dresses parading around pretending to be adults.

"Freaky" but a sad indictment of some parents that actually do this to their children
