Distraction (2004– )
8/10
Excellent
22 July 2006
Distraction is an uhm..."somewhat" original show, and at times, quite witty and intelligent. The star of the show could'nt have possibly been a better selection of the host, Jimmy Carr! And what a host he is. He is heart and soul of distraction. I only wish that he'd stop repeating the same jokes he spat down during his earlier comedy shows. For example, I don't want to hear that "he arrived early" for the billionth time! Despite that, he does bring plenty of originality to the table. The show itself is quite funny and sometimes heartbreaking when you see all the merchandise destroyed. Is the shock value really worth such a budget? I really don't know but the budget must be massive!

Quake III: Arena (1999 Video Game)
10/10
UT is not better.
22 July 2006
Yes UT may have some eye candy, some voice taunts and some loudness and all of us were pretty taken in at first, readily willing to declare that this game was better than Quake-3. But 10000 frags later, you start to realise the truth - that there is no deathmatch experience quite like Quake-III arena and along with CounterStrike, Quake-III is indeed the best multiplayer game in the world, till date.

The speed, fluidity and physics of Quake-III are simply unbeatable and UT simply cannot compare. The CTF experience is total insanity, especially on smaller maps. Id have gone all out and refined the game so well that the deathmatch physics are so nearly perfect.

Quake II (1997 Video Game)

Very balanced
22 July 2006
Quake-2 is a very worthy sequel to Quake. It has a few flaws and visually may not be on par with Unreal-1 but Quake-2 is certainly a game worth buying for several reasons. The most important reason is that when the game released, it had unbeatable multiplayer capability, just like the original quake. No game could touch it in that regard. The deathmatch is so good that it is still very playable, even after Quake-III, although not many really play it.

The single player experience is very balanced with effective weapons and enemies and good level design. There's also a fantastic soundtrack by Sonic mayhem. The ending is not at all satisfying though. But there are always the user made addons and the official addon paks to make up for that. Overall, Quake-2 has to be one of the most refined and polished productions in the gaming industry.

Not good at all. It sucks.
22 July 2006
First of all, this is a girls movie. It should appeal to adolescent girls more than any others. I really don't see any reason for any one else to like this movie. Perhaps there are more girls that like soccer than I'm aware of. I don't know.

The popularity of this movie is inexplicable. Seems like the Indian people really hyped it up for seeing such a venture for the first time. But even I, an American, can see the obvious - that the director has pretty much sold out her culture and homeland for a monetary profit. Thats right. This movie is filled with stereotypes and clichés about Indian immigrants in Britain. Thats how it goes forward, by purely exploiting and amplifying embarrassing stereotypes about Indians. If I were an Indian, I would have disowned this movie and the director.

Not only that but this movie also depicts some Britishers as totally ignorant of other cultures. The jokes are stupid and unoriginal. The screenplay is not that bad though. The story is also unoriginal and predictable. This movie is not worth your time and money.

Great acting
22 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
If I did'nt accidentally see Hugo weiving being interviewed on some stupid talk show on TV, I would've never guessed or at least have some difficulty in guessing that he played V. Unfortunately if you go surfing the net, this revelation is also likely to pop up when you click on some link or movie preview. His acting has really been unbeatable in this movie. To think that he was also agent Smith is truly amazing. The movie itself is pretty good and highly refined. You may be expecting a lot of action scenes and a few more could have possibly been added. Its not as if they could'nt come up with a few new ideas if they wanted to? The only problem in this movie are that the writers are way too obsessed with current political issues, way too obsessed with muslims and even more obsessed with homosexuality, as ideas fit for oppression by a dictatorship. These concepts have'nt been illustrated with any subtlety and seem too intentional.

Interesting Crapola
22 July 2006
Someone passed some rumor that battlefield earth was so violent that scientists complained that it demeaned humanity. Sure it demeaned humanity but it is not violent at all. It treats humans like animals. 'Man' animal to be precise. I would be lying if I said that an average human was anymore than the animal portrayed in this movie but still, this movie is not so subtle. It seems to be created solely for the purpose of displaying that idea. But the good news is that humans do end up winning. Battlefield earth may not be one of the worst films ever made but it is still pretty bad. You can watch it if you have nothing better to do at all.

The Jerry Springer Show (1991–2018)
1/10
A disgrace
22 July 2006
This crap represents everything wrong with America today. Society must be at its lowest point in existence if people can actually cheer for the immoral garbage that gets explicitly paraded as entertainment. Not to mention, the pain of others, the complications of a relationship, amplified greatly and sexed up, only to be presented to the world as nothing but unadultrated entertainment. One gets the impression that Jerry Springer is a true sadist, even if his stupid show is scripted and fake. The idea itself is bad and unethical. I don't know why the morons in the audience, although paid, have any reason to shout "Jerry!Jerry!Jerry!" when he does absolutely nothing on stage besides enjoying bleeding the masses? If America had any decency remaining in society, they would have boycotted this crap long ago. Its utterly pathetic.

Wow that sucked!
22 July 2006
After all the hype at the time, I really considered myself lucky to finally get to see this movie. That was before the first 5 minutes. Boy did this movie stink! Boring, unsubtle, embarrassing, cliché ridden, utterly stupid, racial stereotyping, toilet humor, disgust and stupidity are some of the word that come to mind. The characters are unoriginal, idiotic and offensive. This piece of crap would probably have no problem in keeping a naive 5 year old entertained for about 2 hours but any one with a shred of intelligence and some experience with such movies would be far from impressed. And people found King Julien funny? His stereotyped accent was a dig at yet another race. It did'nt sound funny. It sounded stupid and very intentional.

Not as bad as I expected
22 July 2006
But that does'nt mean that it is good. Porting Scooby from 2D to 3D itself was a pretty dumb idea and no body really expects it to work. And it does'nt work. You should probably ignore Scooby for this entire movie as it is bad CGI and the 3D avatar far froms shows as convincing. However, there are some decent performances by the guy who plays Shaggy very impressively and some others. By far the most impressive thing about this movie are the monsters which have been very very very well done and are sheer fun to experience. Don't go expecting any great story or anything great and just go see it for mindless fun. There's nothing wrong with mindless fun is there?

Its OK
22 July 2006
Alright, its certainly no where near the best out there. Its far from revolutionary and does not really exhibit any brilliance. I saw this on a United Airlines international flight after an extremely and exhausting stressful day. It did succeed in cheering me up a bit.

I really could'nt make out the standard of animation as the screen was mostly dark and the first class TV screen in your seat is very small. But from what I could notice that it was pretty good, not as bad as everyone says. The lip syncing was a bit primitive though and noticeable. It gave the impression that this was a dubbed movie! Despite a lot of clichés, tired old jokes and ideas, there are still plenty of good moments to look forward to in this movie plus there are some 2 or 3 characters who are quite likable. There's no real story or flow but it is good entertainment.

Justice League (2001–2004)
7/10
Trite and Clichéd but entertaining
22 July 2006
Justice League Unlimited makes some improvements in standards over the traditional JL and can be quite entertaining. The standard of animation isn't great but its an improvement over the previous. In all, it can be quite entertaining.

You can see that the writers and animators try really really hard to make this show something exclusive. They really try hard to introduce some realistic dialog and story but it really does'nt work and they fall short. They don't have the special something needed. The overall effort is filled with clichés and the action is highly banal.

However, this works quite well as a comedy and at many a time, can be quite amusing. The stories sometimes are not bad too.

Baywatch (1989–2001)

Not always Babewatch
22 July 2006
During its time, Baywatch was the most watched, most talked about, most hyped and most commercially successful venture on modern television. It is therefore quite strange to see its low rating on IMDb and its extensive criticism from wannabe critics.

Lets be honest here. It was'nt always about babes and unrealistic heroics. A good chunk of the series was dedicated to proper story lines, good acting and good action. It was very well written and very well executed.

Perhaps people have gotten used to an idea that grotesque reality is what TV should reflect? Thats pretty stupid. Baywatch represents a very happy and positive atmosphere and place, bordering on fantasy. It should be commended for at least trying to show a happy world.
