Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Hideous and offensive
As a fan of the work of Tarantino, it pains me to say that I found this film hideous and offensive. Not to mention historically inaccurate. The director stereotypes his characters in what one imagines he thought was a comic way. Tarantino is WAY off-mark here. Not only does his anti-semitism permiates each frame, so does his hatred of the German speaking nations. I found this film terribly offensive and the satire that Tarantino was obviously aiming for turned out to be nothing but racial gutter humor. Perhaps its time Tarantino found his own bunker and shot himself. This kind of film-making should NOT be tolerated! Tarantino contributed much to fringe cinema. Perhaps its time for him to move on. He seems to have become THE MAN FROM Hollywood. The character he played in FOUR ROOMS! Anyone who enjoys this film should apply for membership to the neo-Nazi's. Shame on you QUENTIN!
Paljas (1997)
A South African Great
In a world where what most people consider South African (cinematicly) is Charleze Theron it fills one with pride to call this picture our own. PALJAS stands head and shoulders above the rest. While most S.A. filmmakers think that the only thing the world wants to see are pics about our politics Katinka Heyns and Chris Barnard (not the physician) chose to portray the life of an ordinary S.A. family in a story filled with pathos and genuine characters instead of the hackneyed anti apartheid heroes of yesteryear. this makes PALJAS truly deserving of a high ranking place among the best of world cinema. as with CHILDREN OF HEAVEN (From Iran) PALJAS centres on a typical S.A. family and their toils and tribulations. anyone hoping to see a True reflection of life in apartheid S.A. without the artifice of modern day propaganda could do no better than to watch this unique gem of a film. Incidentaly for those interested in political S.A. film see PROMISED LAND
