Entertaining but disgusting
14 November 2023
This was very high quality and kept me totally focused on it. Incredible actors, especially Oliver Masucci.

But, it was also totally disgusting. I feel it went too far, showing totally repulsive things on the screen. If the aim was to shock, it certainly succeeded. It just went too far - I don't think anybody wants to see this.

I finished the sixth episode last night, had trouble sleeping and once felt physically ill during the night, when some of the most repulsive scenes came to my mind.

I hope the same team makes more similar crime series, but please exclude scenes that make people want to vomit.

So bad writing
8 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This series is technically high quality. Very good photography and editing. So and so acting.

But the writing, oh could it be any more stupid. I watched until in episode 3 or 4 the warden states this to a prisoner (who had just murdered another prisoner) and his father: "If this happened my prison can be transferred under federal authority. So let's move you to another prison. This did not happen."

Seriously? Just like that, sweep a murder under the rug, because it becoming public knowledge would be administratively difficult for a warden? In 2020?

The writing is so very very bad.

Best US tv series in a long time
2 January 2021
This is the best US made tv series I've seen in a long time. And I've seen a lot of them. It's probably the best since True Detective season 1. I enjoyd every moment in this series. I could not stop watching, binging the 7 hours one evening. What makes it so good (that I give it 10 starts) is the exceptional quality of everything in it: production, writing, acting, editing, sound editing, costumes. Everything in it is the very hightest quality, actually as high quality as in very expensive movies. The two acresses in the role of the lead character Beth Harmon were both incredible. Quirky but in a lovely and smart way. I will follow Anya Taylor-Joy very closely from now on - such talent is also very rare. This good tv is unfortunately rare. It's six years since True Devective's season one. Hopefully we don't have to wait six years again for something this good?

Wonderful movie
18 April 2014
This is a really beautiful movie. Both main leads do a great job. Elisha Cuthbert is just wonderful and beautiful. I had not seen her in any movie before this one but now she goes high up on my list of actresses to follow. She really can convey feelings and is clearly a very good actress.

Regarding discussion about original/remake: probably both movies have value. I happened to catch this one (on TV) and it made me feel good and hopeful about life. What more can you ask?

I gave it an 8 but I'm considering changing it to 9.

Need to see what else Cuthbert has done. I kinda fell in love with her (character) now.

Low-quality teen movie (kind of like a b-movie version of Godzilla)
2 August 2008
Godzilla (the new version) was actually a b-movie. So what does that make this? A z-movie? With plastic characters, all teens, all lookalikes, except the one required nerd with a round face.

And then there's a teen-kid who just has been named 'Vice President'? Uh-huh.

The movie is like a home video version of Godzilla, with some of those spider-like things from Aliens thrown in.

Basically a short, very boring teen movie, with a lot of running and shouting, with bad-quality imaging.

One star is actually too much.
