Leave the World Behind (2023)
A misunderstood, realistic disaster movie
I haven't written a review for IMDb in about 3 years, but this movie is criminally underrated right now. This film provides a very grounded and realistic approach to an apocalypse movie, and all terrorist attacks that took place in the film were inspired by real world events. Additionally, the characters in the film make rational decisions that pushes the plot forward in an extremely compelling way.
I really want to touch on the ending as well, because I feel like many people missed the significance of the ending of this movie. The primary message was that it wasn't about the ending, it was about the journey the characters took throughout the film, and what the characters learned about themselves and others. For example, while Julia Robert's character is extremely racist at the beginning of the movie, she overcomes her racial prejudice and is seen holding hands with a black character at the end of the film. Additionally, Farrah Mackenzie's character is so concerned with the ending of Friends that she doesn't cherish the entire series beforehand. The film is about coming together in the face of turmoil, and I see so many people missing this point.
If you haven't seen it already, please go watch this film, it is definitely worth your time.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Aftermath (2021)
CLONE WARS IS BACK BABY
I will admit that I was a little hesitant when I heard that the Bad Batch was getter by a spin-off series based after the clone wars. I didn't love their introduction episodes in season 7, but damn it Dave Filoni kicked it out of the park! I was heartbroken when the Clone Wars came to an end, but The Bad Batch is a worthy successor. I also can't stop thinking how much fun Dee Bradley Baker must have had voicing all of those characters.
Invincible (2021)
Best Superhero media since Endgame
Damn Invincible is amazing! It was extremely entertaining and never felt slow. Steven Yuen and J. K. Simons really stood out in this show, and they gave some of the best performances in their career. The gore factor just made this show perfect! Easy 10/10 for any comic book lover.
Justice League (2017)
Josstice League is for very special people
This is Joss Whedon's film, not Zack Snyder's. I have only seen this once, and it was on a seven hour airplane ride three years ago. The characters just bumble around and are annoying, and the marvel humor does not go well with the darker atmosphere of the DCEU. The CGI was terrible, and the final battle was just the Josstice League's attempt at making a coherent plot. Oh, and don't get me started on Mustache Man.
Anyway, watch the Snyder cut instead!!! It is really good, and I highly recommend it to all readers of this review.
The Thing (1982)
Literally the best horror movie I have ever seen
I cannot believe how suspenseful and amazing this film truly is. It is perfect, and the ambiguous ending on whether Childs was assimilated was perfectly shot and executed. A masterpiece that is truly deserving of all of its praise.
Community (2009)
This is my favorite Television show of all Time
This is without a doubt my favorite show to ever come out of anything ever. Every single episode was funny, unique, and best of all, entertaining. The diverse cast had extremely satisfying arcs and unique personalities. In fact, this whole show was a breath of fresh air by Dan Harmon into the industry. Community is by far my favorite Television show of all time, and I doubt that it will ever be topped.
PS(Make the movie already!!!!!)
(Oh and give Dan Harmon more work)
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
A blessing to the few fans left of the Snyderverse
Zack Snyder wanted to make us a movie he envisioned, no a crappy one that was glued together by some random guy. This was one hundred times better than the original Justice League, and Snyder did a far better job than he who shall not be named.
This movie contains six parts. These parts help the film to spread its legs and have fun. When you watch the Snyder Cut, it doesn't feel like four hours, it just feels like an adventure. Stephenwolfe's character design was vastly improved, and the ending was superior to the original. It is a must watch for anyone who loves superheroes!
Fantastic Four (2015)
May be the worst film ever
DANGER! DANGER! BIOHAZARD AHEAD! MAY INCLUDE A LOAD OF SMELLY GARBAGE CONSISTING OF FANT4STIC. DO NOT COME ANY CLOSER....
The Firm (1993)
Why is Tom Cruise in this?
The Firm was a very convoluted and interesting film with Tom Cruise. However, this is not a Tom Cruise movie. There were no dramatic fight scenes, nor were there any insane fight scenes. To be honest, it was pretty bland.
Le Cinquième Élément (1997)
Bruce Willis still had HAIR!!!!!
This was a really fun movie. It was very imaginative and creative with its set design, as well as looking very good for its time. Bruce Willis did a really good job with his role, but I believe that the star of this film was Milla Jovovich. She truly gave an amazing performance. The fight scene in the space ship reminded me of Die Hard, and in a good way! In fact, most of the fight choreography in this film was creative and fun to watch. If you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend that you give it a watch!!!!
Artemis Fowl (2020)
Worst movie of 2020
Alright, I watched a lot of movies last year. Some of them were great(Love&Monsters, The Sixth Sense, Shaun of the Dead) And Some of them were bad(Mortdekai, Downhill). But nothing was as atrocious as Artemis Fowl. There is nothing good about this movie.NOTHING. This movie dragged on for what felt like 6 hours. By the time I finished this atrocity, I felt like crying myself to sleep.NEVER EVER EVER WATCH THIS.
Mortdecai (2015)
Garbage- just utter garbage
This is the third worst movie that I have seen all year. This truly is a disgrace. This idea could have been so much more-SO MUCH MORE! There wasn't a single time I laughed during watching this. Never under ANY circumstance watch this
The Sixth Sense (1999)
One of my Favorite Movies of all Time
Bruce Willis' performance was Oscar-worthy. Shamalan's genius directing and writing made this film shine. The twist was one of the best in cinema, and I was lucky to not have it spoiled for me. The Sixth Sense is truly one of the greatest films of all time!
The World's End (2013)
A really great comedy!
While this is definitely the weakest of Wright's trilogy, The World's End was truly a thrill! I especially enjoyed the twist in the first third of the movie. This film is also very re-watchable. I truly adore this film, and will associate it with a positive experience.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
ONE IF THE BEST COMEDIES EVER!!!!
I LOVE Shaun of the Dead. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are always an ingenious duo, and I think this is their greatest achievement. Edgar Wright should get an Oscar for this, as I'm this is one of my favorite movies of all time!
Blade Runner (1982)
Did I miss something?
Ok,
While Blade Runner was very pretty, the story was so convoluted that I had trouble understanding it. This is a movie you have to watch twice.
Jurassic Park (1993)
Dinosaur
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!! Jurassic Park is truly a masterpiece. There is nothing wrong with this movie, and if you say there is, you are wrong. The practical effects were the best part of this movie, especially when it came to the T-Rex. This is truly one of the best movies of all time!!!!!!!!!!!
It (2017)
Pennywise is a very funny man
"It" was amazing! Funniest that I have watched since Shaun of the Dead. This is not a horror movie, but a comedy. The whole movie was hysterical. Everything that these guys tried to make scary just ended up being funny. If you haven't yet, go watch It now!
Top Gun (1986)
Congratulations Hollywood, you have made a movie that exists
This is a movie that exists. Tom Cruise was nice though.
Doctor Who: The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos (2018)
Awful
I'd like to escort the writers out of BBC headquarters please
17 Again (2009)
Ugghhhh...
This is a cheap teen movie for edgy 14 year olds. It's is not worth a watch. Zac Efron is fine, but the rest of the actors are super cringeworthy and stupid. This has almost the same story beats as big, which is a really good movie. Watch that instead.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Um... what happened?
Pedro Pascal was the only good part of this movie. This is the only reason that Wonder Woman is a 4/10. To be honest, just skip to all of Pedro Pascal's and you'll have a great time.
Soul (2020)
A really good movie
This is the best animated movie of the year. I truly loved Soul. It was a delight to watch, as well as Pixar's most mature film yet! This film was very moving, and the best looking animated movie I have ever seen. Pixar: please just keep doing this and not Onward. PLEASE!!!!
The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020)
This movie would only be entertaining to a fetus
So all I can say is that this movie isn't one out of ten because Kurt Russel is Santa Claus. Otherwise, the acting is poor, the story is a cash grab, and the effects are mediocre at best. Watch this if you have a very, very, very young child.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
I DO NOT HAVE WORDS
This mini-series somehow makes a relatively boring topic the best show of the year. If you have Netflix, go watch this now!
