The Interview (II) (2014)

58,000 votes and only 168 review is impossible...
25 December 2014
It's been a while that I think IMDb is rigged but this time it is so much in the face that I had to step up and say something. Only 1 day after its release The Interview is 3rd better movie ever, and has 58,000+ votes?

There is always a ratio between the number of votes and the number of reviews and this time something is obviously wrong. A ratio of 58,000:160 is never seen for any movie, so there is evidence here of fake votes.

Also it seems that the propaganda machine is running full speed on this movie. Soon a movie about killing Putin? That's how it is working in America? This country is sick and these votes are rigged, simple statistics.

The webmaster here needs to check the logs and see how these people could hack the vote system. The credibility of this website is at sake.

Some NSA hackers at work?

What happens with you guys?
8 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I can understand that some you yours haven't heard about the relativity and the relation between gravity and time. But it's been +70 years that it has been proved that time is slower when things are not moving and faster when they move. Einstein explained and a countless books after him that at the light speed, objects have an infinite gravity and time is stopped. You will find many documentaries on you tube if you search... So many feels that by seeing this movie, they have discovered some hidden secret, thanks the Nolands for teaching E=Mc2 to the average American who still think that we are on Earth since Jesus. Apart from that people a crying all the time in this movie, that's too much really. The movie is slow and even if there is some tension and some surprises, it is just an average movie. The visuals are not so great, I think the Noland Brothers didn't wanted to make a 2nd Space Odyssey. The music is at the opposite of the Kubrik movie and Interstellar tries to be as realistic as possible without abusing of space wide angle. The problem is that there is a lot of empty spaces, there are only a few actors, the planets are empty. This movie does not gives you a great feeling about the conquest of space. Not so boring for 3 hours, but not so good too too. What's Noland's next movie? the UFO? The life of Jesus after he landed from Mars? The quantum physics and their relation with the time and space? Who knows...

Useless
29 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
20 minutes after it started, I knew how it will end. The end is so disappointing, that it is not worth looking the rest of the movie. There is no battle against the entity, the entity wins all the time. From the beginning to the end, you never have hope that it will end good for the 2 main characters. Acting is good, and the visual is good too, but the idea itself sucks. There are some jumps and some scary moments, but globally the script is predictable, and linear with no twist at all. The only thing that makes it a little bit interesting is the way the story is sliced between the past and the present. Today with computers, it is easier to do complex mixing at no cost and it messes up the viewer enough to avoid showing how poor the script really is.

Tex Avery in space with a 100 Million $ budget!
29 May 2014
I spent 2 hours looking this movie and I am sure I will forget it totally tomorrow. It was a good brain cleaning experience. Like looking 2 hours of commercials, or an old fashion Bip Bip cartoon! There is no deep, no surprise, nothing really interesting, but the movie shines with a good feeling of an Heroic Fantasy sci-fi Start Trek... There are some ridiculous moments and if you have an IQ above 80, you will probably notice that the writers apparently does not know that in space there is no gravity. One action scene is based on that and it is so ridiculous that it becomes almost entertaining... like looking Beavis and Buckhead! So it is not totally crap that's why I give 2 *, but it is close.

Disturbing
29 May 2014
I am still puzzled by having spent 2 hours looking this movie. What is shocking me the most is how so many people didn't felt the same? Basically what you see is the training of a kid to go to war and kill legions of enemies without asking who they are, why they are here, and basically just killing them, as if it was through a video game. The whole film I was thinking that is not right. If he was an Arab and training in with a A-47 in the hand that would be unbearable, like looking 2 hours of rapes in a row, but here, it sounds acceptable. There is no blood, nobody cries, it is only machines, spaceships fighting. But the weird feeling was sticky through all the movie, with its cold look, with too many CGI and not enough good acting. Harrison Ford is not doing good in this movie, and his end of career goes to the opposite way someone like Clint Eastwood for example. Most actors were OK, and the main character was doing a good job at being close to crying all the time. The whole movie it totally depressing. Should I mention that the end does not have any sense and is the most ridiculous ending I have ever seen? The director does not know where he stands... what is the message? It seems that this movie is a propaganda command from the US army to plug into our head that having our kids learning how to kill with a joystick at school is acceptable? Disturbing resume this movie, after seeing it I have a little bit of hangover...

Cloud Atlas (2012)

Awful score, awful story, awful waste
29 December 2012
I have just seen "Cloud Atlas" and it is a painful piece of crap to see. Sorry for the ones who think it is art, but it is really boring and confusing. Most of all it is a huge waste of money. Some talented director would have made 6 movies with this money, but the Watchowsky Brothers decided to make one movie with 6 stories, just to demonstrate that even if we die, love is a link between all our life. Brilliant but 3 hours to explain that, having sliced the stories in 30 seconds to 2 minutes slices jumping in time and going all over the place even in space?!?! Impossible to relate to any characters, hard to follow any stories, no suspense.

Worse, the music is awful, no epic theme, just a slow boring piano and string loop for 3 hours. I can remember 2 different themes no more in such a long movie. Where are the good composers who were doing music on screen? It is sounding like a long trailer and Audiomachine would have made a better job for the score.

There are maybe 2 action scenes hahaha... so awful, it is slow like "Out of Africa" without the picture, the light, the power and the music. I can love complex movies, but here, with modern computers, slicing movies all over the place is not something that deserves an Oscar, it can be done with an After Fx script! So if you want to loose 3 hours of your life go and see it. You have been warned, even in DVD: avoid.

To make it short
27 December 2012
There is nothing to criticize about this movie. It is made as subtle and touching a movie can be. It never goes into emotions more than necessary. The music, the story, the acting, everything is perfectly orchestrated. It is delicate and beautiful in all the sense of the term. It is such a shame that Morgan Freeman didn't got an award, it would have been well deserved. Stephen King wrote again a masterpiece, like the Green Mile, from the same author and the same film director. Frank Darabont execute this story more in a tone that reminds me "Out of Africa". The prison is a character by itself, all the actors including the secondary roles are just perfect. Watching this movie remains us the true meaning of hope, and that everything is possible.

But what are you doing here? Rather than reading reviews, just buy it, rent it and see it. It is one kind of a unique movie that you will never forget.

Transformers 3: shame without Megan Fox
28 June 2011
I have enjoyed the 2 first opus, for different reasons. The 1st one was a bit like a Disney/teen movie, funny and the story between Megan Fox and Shia LaBouf was cute, my kids loved it. In the second opus, it was more about pure action, like the 2nd Alien, robot fighting without any plot whatsoever I liked it because I am a fan of CGI and Sci-Fi movies...

However, I always found that Megan Fox was great here to compensate the excessive number of robots and metal, cars and trucks in the movie. Her character could have been more deep and I was expecting that M.Bay would give her a chance one day.

The first thing that really made me spend a bad time in the theater is that each time I saw Rosie Huntington-Whiteley I was thinking "she does not match". It is like having Lara Croft instead of Ripley in Aliens. Then, in my opinion, the chemistry between the 2 main character was not working at all.

I have nothing personal against Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, she is probably a great artist, but she do not do a good job at replacing Megan Fox. It distracted me to the point that I could not connect with the characters. Too much boom, bang swing, splash and no connection: I started watching my watch... There is a point where CGI and technical skills, kills the movie if there is nothing else. I got enough action in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, so I was not so impressed by the new actions scenes. Since Godzilla, blowing up things is nothing new...

It seems that M.Bay decided to follow the Batman, or Star Wars series where the 3rd opus is more dramatic and dark than the other ones.

But to get back to my point, robots even with a soul cannot replace the cute face of Megan Fox. Even if she was not the best actress (or she had the worse script and dialogs, we will never know), she was bringing some human beauty and feelings to the opposite mechanical actors, giving Shia a real goal to save his lovely lady: this was connecting me with the characters and adding some humanity to an otherwise very cold movie...

M.Bay maybe think he can replace an actress with another, but us, the public will greatly miss Megan Fox. Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon is like a good and expensive meal where the Cook forgot to salt. I wish they did 2 versions and they could switch to the version with Megan, because without her, this movie series lost its heart.

Bourne with Angelina: it sucks.
1 August 2010
I really loved the Bourne's movies but Angelina Jolie is not as good as Matt Damon period! Salt is a big disappointment. The character is lifeless and Angelina is not playing as good as Andy in Toy Story. I don't see why Hollywood bothers paying an actress so much when she does not act better than a 90's CGI character. The Avatars have more expression and feeling than Angelina in the whole movie, wearing a mask like if she was made in plastic or a bad CGI render.

This movie is like a big fat burger, in the middle, you ask yourself if you will be able to finish it, and at the end, you want to puke..

The worse in the movie is the wobble effect to the camera. Like in Bourne Ultimatum they use and abuse of the jerking/wobbling/shaking effect. It is like if you watch the movie on a boat. It is nauseous. This makes all action sequences harder to focus.

Once you notice the effect, you cannot watch the movie anymore, it is so over used that you ask yourself why they did they add this all the time?

Maybe wait the DVD, I think the movie will be easier to see on a TV screen than on the big screen for the reason explained before.

If you have some money to spend, there are much better movies this summer. I'll see Inception again, Hollywood, you can do better than Salt!

Cameron enter in the short list of 7th art genius
23 December 2009
I'm not a fan of James Cameron.

He did Aliens 2, but Aliens 1 - the original made by Ridley Scott - was by far the best of the series. The Alien 2 was a big battle against Aliens with as only spot the fight of 2 Mother for the little kid (the Alien Queen against Ripley). Otherwise some good special effects at this time but no real innovation. I was disappointed.

OK he did Abyss, and I remember that everyone was saying WOW about the creature made in water. Now it is just a boring movie to see, all the special Fx looks dated and the script has no originality... disappointing.

He did True Lies... Mrs and Mr Smith is just 1000 times better. Have you seen True Lies lately? Arnold sucks, and the movie is a classic Hollywood crappy action movie... B style. Really disappointing...

Well he did Titanic, a beautiful romance with a good scripts that surfs on the publics feelings like a Dolphin, helped by the Celine Dion song and James Horner's excellent score. I loved this movie and that's the only movie I consider to be a Masterpiece in James Cameron's career.

Why everyone thinks that Cameron created the Alien series (he did only the Number 2), or the Terminator series (he did only the number 2 as well).

James Cameron has been always the Number 2, the sequel specialist, or a blockbuster maker with no originality.

Where is the magic in Avatar? I didn't cried like in Titanic, I didn't worried about the kid like in Alien 2, I didn't liked the script like in Terminator 2...

But if you think about what this movie represents, after seeing it in 3D, and in regard of what the cinema is in 2009, this movie is as powerful as was the 9th Beethoven Symphony when it was first played in Vienna in 1824.

There are a lot of good movies, but how many movies are such a step in the future, such a visual firework, such an emotional roller-coaster and such a beautiful soul and message, connected so deeply with our time all together? James Cameron put in this movie all the best of what we can expect from the cinema industry in 2009, but 20 years ahead of his time.

That's in my opinion the mark of a genius, a visionary like Orson Wells or Jules Verne. He absorbed our time and made a beautiful tale that touch your heart, while using the most advanced technology. His mastering as a director is unbelievable. At the end, when the 3d and the 2d meets together, you take a slap in the face like never before.

Cameron is at the top of his art and being a witness of this is an extraordinary feeling.

Avatar is unique, an impossible to describe experience, and a milestone for the centuries to come...

Like a punch in the face! And a very smart movie for the ones who understand it.
14 November 2009
I've read these comments with attention and saw this movie yesterday. And I think everyone here get it wrong. It is sad to see that most people have not seen the amazing message hidden behind all the CGI and Special FX.

Yes Emmerich has done a great classic with all the ingredients for a success: simple story, presentation of the characters, explanation of the phenomenon, and then the catastrophic events and how the characters are going to escape and finally an happy end. Your bag of popcorn is empty and you come back home with the feeling you spent 10 bucks and got for your money in the face.

Now this movie is also like Indiocracy a very intelligent movie behind the visual. Let me explain why:

1- Roland Emerich know that 90% of his audience is brainless and will explain all the scientific justification with a little cartoon that even a 10 year old kid will understand. It clearly shows that the director knows exactly what he does and who is watching. This guy is a mad scientist, this guy is the president, this guy is... every symbol is simple enough so you can check your Text messages while watching the movie and still follow the story...that's for the dumb guys.

BUT

2- The US president is very different than in these kind of movies. He is not an Hero, he is just a modest black man who his not going (thanks god!) to make an endless speech about how great America is. He has empathy, There is no real bad guys in this movie, they are just more inhuman and realistic about the situation, like all the bankers we see everyday in the news... But in this movie there are no really caricature of a bad guy who does not understand what is happening ...

3- There are a lot of symbols that are destroyed in this movie. No one have understood the aircraft carrier smashing the white house symbol? The Vatican is destroyed why not a Mosque or a Boudha temple? And some strong biblical symbols too, I let you find them.

4- who is going to save the world? I don't want to spoil the movie, but at NO time it is said that it is America. In fact, almost all the countries together are working to that, the US president is always respectful of the international community, explain to the NATO and decisions are not made in the White House only, and we are far away from "The Day after" and these movies where only America is saved in a patriotic boring hymn. Not in that movie.

5- There is a huge symbol with the people who make the ships and the healthy 1% who paid their ticket to survive. This is not a random stupid idea, it is nothing else than another Emmerich strong political message. Think about what did happened this year and transpose... Something is melting down right now and that's not the Earth...

6- at the end, replace the words of the hero about opening the gates with a call to the humanity that has a much broader meaning than most stupid movies. Emmerich had something to say to the world of a biblical proportion and he does it strongly and powerfully in this movie...

I think most people will understand the real Emmerich message when the DVD will be out there. This movie is an incredible spectacular movie, but it delivers a true message. The real meltdown is a financial meltdown and a meltdown of our values and culture...

There is not bad military guy in this movie, no good hero who save the world. Just a bunch of healthy paying their tickets, while the Indians who discovered everything and Chinese who made it possible to escape are dying...

That's not just random... Thanks Roland Emmerich for having hidden this deep message behind this blockbuster full of special FX. You have successfully spent 250 Millions of $ to deliver a very powerful message to the world, that will I'm sure with time be understood... this movie as an historic milestone and a mirror of what did happened in October 2009.

Hollywood always follow our history someway or another... In this movie Roland Emmerich brightly destroys all the symbols of greedy America, Washington, Christianity and the savers are the international community, the NATO, Chinese and Indians and Buddhists... Who said this movie is another stupid Hollywood movie?

Now go watch the movie with another perspective...

Not very good, but may be enjoyed by 10 yo retarded teens.

Warning: Spoilers
I was expecting the worse after reading these reviews. I must say that the movie didn't captivate me as I expect from a survival horror movie. I've never hook on the story nor to the acting or anything else. There are some good points : some pictures of the Alps are really beautiful, even if the colors are too yellow, giving a 'Tween Peaks' visual style. The idea was good and the beginning promising. However like most French movies that want to play the Hollywood style card, it fails in most categories. The music is awful, not the composing but the orchestra sounds like played on a cheap General Midi device. No real orchestra that's for sure, sometime it is not too bad, some video games features good orchestra music made with computer but in this movie it is not the case. The special fx (there are just a few) are laughable. Usually I do not pay attention to the special Fx until they are so bad that it is shocking me. The scene with the accident is ridiculously made. Some other moments are so badly filmed that you cannot even understand what is happening (crossing the river for example, what does happen to Sara Forestier's hand?). The costumes and makeup are good. Now the acting is really bad. Sara Forestier is not natural and I must say that it is a lot because the script and the dialogs are really bad too. Her character is very superficial like most of the characters in this movie. Lorànt Deutsch (I love this actor) is the French Shia LaBeouf (he is his French voice btw) but in this movie he is just lost in the lack of consistency of the overall story and does a really bad job. Dominique Pinon is the one who is doing the best and saves some scenes. The director tries to frighten us several time and it works pretty well at the beginning, after the middle it becomes really boring and you are happy when it ends. Unrealistic, with bad actor direction and boring superficial dialogs...

Domage...
14 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is not a "bouse" it is a big "merde". There are some funny scenes and the middle is almost good, but the beginning and the end are some of the worse moments I've ever seen in a movie... First she punch her husband in the face and he is bleeding. haha very funny. She say, "if I was a man I would already call the cops". That's smart to remind us that some people are living these kind of situation daily. Sophie Marceau is playing in an horrible way. She is over acting like a cartoon character and that's not the way to play an already disastrous script. Danny Boon is more subtle and this was the way to do it. Juliette Arnaud is doing well too, Anny Duperey is ... well I love her so I'm going to describe her in this movie, as it must be an error, or she needed some money...whatever that's awful. The end is probably the worse part. Sophie Marceau violently use a stolen police car against cops who try to stop her, while yelling how much she loves him in the megaphone. And finally conclude after the cops gently help her to go out from the car, go to the court and when she goes out say that she he will certainly have a big fine! Really? Does anyone read the scripts in France before the state finance all these folks? Because what she does with her car would drive anyone in prison for 10 years or more in most countries (including France I think) or worse, they may just shot at you to stop it. But in this movie they almost thanks her, she is in love, and blablabla... that's so funny. At the end, you feel some pity for Sophie Marceau to have to act in such a lame scene, crying her love in a megaphone while squashing cops with a stolen police car...such a shame for a good idea, with good actors. Could have been a good movie, but miss it by far!

What an amazing movie, and an amazing performance
29 July 2009
After seeing this movie, you can't imagine it was written by a 14 year old teenager, who is also the main actress and the director...(she was 16 when she did the movie)

There is such a maturity in the writing, such a poetry in the words.

The pictures, lightning, the music and the actors are consistent and depicts with a rare subtlety what true love is seen though the eyes of the 3 women in this movie.

It is all about love, love between a mom and his son, between a son and his dad, a daughter and her mom, a niece and her taunt... and of course between two teenagers.

Not only this movie is good, emotional, weird, genuine, but it also have a real unique ambiance and personality.

It is attaching as are the characters. Nothing is scripted and predictable, this movie avoid the clichés of this genre.

Anne Sophie Dutoit is a genius.

Disappointing....not totally lame but close... horrible music.
28 July 2009
When I saw the trailer and was very excited to see this movie. The story is inspired from Philip K Dick PreCog and Psycog ideas and I was thinking : "great!".

The script is not bad and the authors must be ashamed by the result in this movie.

The main problem is not the actors, or the story, or even the direction, but the music.

Imagine some Ambient Asian music in a middle of an action scene? There is NO SUB BASS!!! My sub-woofer stayed dead all along the movie. No suspense music, just some B grade Honk Kong video game style music.

What a shame, because the idea was great, some actors were very attaching and some pictures of Honk Hong were very nice.

I was feeling like watching a great movie with a porno Miami style music... someone should be fired! If one day they remix the movie removing 30 min of useless scenes, adding some good suspense music (like the Dark Knight, ask Hanz Zimmer he will do a better job), this movie would be great...

Great movie, very scary
26 July 2009
I disagree with all the very snobby critics about this movie I read here. Who cares if it is the sequel of another movie a book or an essay, this movie is well done, very scary and Jessica Alba is doing a great performance. Overall you can't be disappointed. It is in my opinion much better than the 6th Sense which has better reviews, even if Bruce Willis is kind of lame in this movie and the end is Kubrickesque... So if you want to rent this movie and have a great time, it is a really good movie for the regular mob like me, and you will spend a really scary night... Note that the end does not disappoint, you don't feel frustrated like most Shyamalan movies for example!
