Hard to say that this is a Fincher's Film
19 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
It often happens that idea lures filmmakers and infatuation becomes infection, first they fall in love and then they stumble at the Box Office.

Unlike of the above fact, this movie was big time money spinner of 2010

Seriousness becomes troublesome if we become serious for something which was never intended to be taken as serious. This movie depicts the same problem of having a perfect body yet deprived of soul.

I remember the moments that i cherished watching Game, Fight Club and Seven and then I had Social Network. It's not a bad cinema; its just i never expected this from Fincher. May be the treatment is too realistic that i couldn't find the detailed character build up which is like a must for Docu-Drama genre.

I am amazed as Ficher goes for a Bio-Pic and yet i completely miss out the lead character and not only the protagonist; the support cast of this ensemble cast is just too average. Conviction is to far to be expected, its like a masterpiece of an amateur. I am afraid but yes for me Fincher had simply burnt his hand.

Yes its possible, probably quite genuine to portray this generation to be shallow, selfish, immoral and stupid but i guess keeping it up with celluloid actually creates nonsense. Its hard to get convince the two faced Zuckerberg's character, who is a modern day Gates and yet doesn't know how to give his due to Buffet and Steve Ballmer.

He is intelligent, he is a sinister, he is Business men, no he is a Modern day entrepreneur... if I am not mistaken he is a Graduate and is in the making to be a Post Graduate... but he is smart, Geek, a nerd, a fashion victim who is a Master mind probably i should address him as a Visionary OR should I call him as a Jackass who F@#Ks his own ass by letting everyone knows about his glorious past in a most indecent way.

After watching Anti Trust, like Six years back i still have vivid memories of it. I don't want to compare these two or i would never say that why to have Social Network because we had Anti Trust; film maker will always make TrainSpotting or Requiem of a Dream. We will still have Sin City though we had Pulp Fiction and L A Confidential ..... but what least can be expected is newness, a Different treatment or a new vision .....

Okay if in something to condemn in everything then there is something to accept.

The Thriller treatment to this Docu-drama is a treat to watch, protagonist is not a sham, he looks like a graduate. Screenplay is intriguing; the only saving grace and may be the key factor that this can still be call as a movie. This movie too has its moments, the comparison and online ratting of girls, can't get more nasty than this if one is in a college. The apt of aping cool Google work ethic at workplace is again a nice one and yes court room drama is simply what flaunts Fincher's expertise in his field. Finally I guess its like an Old Wine in a new bottle, with a skimpy packaging and a Labeled as Contemporary.

I will go with 5 out of 10 for this not so great average flick.

4 Jokers and 3 bimbo = Fight club
27 September 2010
I cant say this to be a complete trash as this flick do had some high points but despite of all these facts this movie definitely needs some work around, especially the casting director for repeatedly making the same mistake.

Movie has a story(As per Bollywood Standard)and have all the thadka which needs to please Auto Drivers and College students(i watched this stuff in 3 rd year BE) but yes its the misfit casting which let down the show. Scenes are funny, and one liners are average but it couldn't make much impact as this was the directorial debut for Vikram Chopra, so cant expect much from his side.

I don't want to get into the territory of plagiarizing/ rip off/ Lift etc etc, since 9 out of 10 movies here follow the suit, so hardly makes any difference.

Performance wise Anna was rocking, Rahul Dev, as usual great but yes it was Ashmit Patel who i think was revelation, wish this was his Debut movie; full ishtylish...

Female crew staff was more like the Dance Bars item girls, Amrita Arora was in her Delhi Ki sardi fever(Zameen) and Dia Mirza and Zayeed had there extended Love story from movie DUS, but honestly its a mistake to accept ANYTHING from Mr KHAN .... Zayed Khan. Sohail was as usual, Boxer Bhai... straight from the sets of his debut movie Maine Dil tujko diya.. Ritesh Deshmuk was almost wasted and Khulbushan Kharbanda was in the Thankless role, looks like he was returning favor for I proud to be Indian.Yash Tonk was equally Good and Bad, don't accept much from TV artists.. ah how can i forget Ashish Chowdary, he was in his prequel state of Dhamaal.... Gujrati pervert bhai

Movie could have been still better but its the climax that brings the bad taste to Ur mouth and since movie ends like this, the taste remains there. Movie is one time watch, preferably on TV ....

Rare Movie
27 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how many will take this review in the right spirit, since majority of prior were 1,2 or 3 starred. As i defined the title, this movie is rare, audacious and inspiring.

I have been to Kashmir and can say that director has made sincere effort while writing the content and 90 % of the screenplay was authentic. Some can find this to be an exaggerated stuff but the tone of this movie is the voice of internal politics of valley.

First half of the movie comes up with lots of characters and Second Half sums up all end points and hence make this as a complete circle; yet movie fails to embark any high voltage drama since many of the cine-mongers were unable to understand the climax, it was same what went wrong for Mission Kashmir.

Before i can explain the climax of Lamhaa i think Mission Kashmir needs few lines, Kashmir is a very different state and it is divided in two parts, one wants to be with Pakistan and the second wants complete autonomy.By No means GOI will ever make any judgment which will please the above two categories and hence the only option left is make Kashmir as an International Issue. IN MK (Mission Kashmir)the attack on Hazzart bal (Most reputed Shrine) and the follow up on Shankracharya (Shiva Temple in Kashmir) was shown as an attempt from Terrorist to make Kashmir issue to be an International Issue, and seek UN's Intervention. So one can say that climax made some sense but yes it was not shown properly.

The Current sate of Kashmir is like that non Muslim are not at all welcomed hence this makes Kashmir as a very different place. The plot of Lamhaa was to create such situation in other parts of India and hence make GOI to succumb. Sequel to MK's climax is Lamhaa.... Migrants who left Kashmir in 1989 are in Jammu and Terrorsit planed suicide attack at the rally which was supposed to be reconciliation effort from moder day Kasmiri Muslim. The High point is if any such incidents happens in Jammu, then again it will lead to multiple conclusions, probably People will left jammu to seek more safe and better place or Jammu will become Armageddon (Hindu-Sikh Vs Muslims) or something like that....

Apart from climax, the 1989 holocausts was dealt as if one explains definition, some detailed interpretation would have made this docu-drama better. Editing was bad, some scenes could have trimmed very easily and hence would have made screenplay more effective. The most absurd part or the only thing i disliked about Lamhaa is that it tries too hard to explain small things and left major chuck unnoticed and finally tries to compile and give some solution, this actually questions the intellect of people who are dealing with Kasmir issue for last 20 years.

Yes Lamhaa never explains the scenario in detail, and i think its quite justified because this can lead up to lots of controversies(dangerous ones) and that too which can vandalize the current peace of state in Jammu and rest of J&K minus Kashmir.

In short, Its a true film about Kashmir and gives the insight of what actually happens in day to day life. A must watch affair.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what had been J C's reaction after watching this the Terminator Salvation, but i am sure it wont be NICE. This movie is a complete trash, and should not be considered as a 4th installment of terminator series. No Background Score, mediocre act and far far below average, clichéd story line.

Probably this would have worked if got made 20 years back.

Let me try to describe this Masterpiece, Robots are made to kill humans and our hero has to stop them, since humans cant fight back so they have to shun there base. Some killings followed by some more brutal killing followed by a 30 minutes of Killing monologue. Hero, if one can consider him as one rescues some ppl and finally second act of saving our mother earth(which includes only USA)begins. Heros are meant to die so ppl die, but one can hardly empathies. Base is shun and worls is saved, and thats how TS proceeds.

1/10 as half is not there. Strictly Avoidable.

An indeed sincere effort
21 April 2010
If actors try to enact the way common man does and director try to portray the living hood of common people then indeed this movie is a sincere effort. I have watched this movie quite couple of times and it's an easy going stuff, a light hearted movie with no pretension of making it to be a cult classic or a Masterpiece. Govinda has done a character role, suitable to his age and movie gives a rustic flavor. As I said it's indeed not the best movie but truly one of those rare ones which depends upon the content and the characters. Movie is a drag in bits but surely engages you till the end. No glossy stuff, plain Cinematography, and kind of art movie stuff. Negatives This should have been released some time before, like Sandwich somewhere when Govinda was doing Beti No 1, Joru Ka Ghulam kind of Movies. Cinematography is simple but just not up to the current scenario, its Bland. Songs are not worthy and should have been simply discarded. NOTE: I don't know what Director thinks about this one but certainly from my perspective it's a Drama film, lesser on the melodrama quotient and more on the characterization.

Deewaar (1975)
10/10
Cult Classic of Indain Cineam
19 November 2009
Deewar is my one of the favorite's, the main credit goes to the script writer (Salim- Javed) and of-course legendary Yash Chopra, who is such a fine craftsman. Deewar has no extra ordinary story, its the characters which make this movie as a cult classic.

For me deewar is one of those movies which was quite ahead of its time; dealing with the theme of good and evil Yash chopra has done complete justice with it.

The scene shot below the bridge is one of the best scene ever shot and again its the characters which should be credited for it and the punch line, Mere Paas Ma Hai.

In one of the scenes, Vijay (Amitabh) makes a deal with a builder, after deal is done, builder advises Vijay that he is not good in business as he has purchased at a much higher price. The way Vijay reverts is simply mind blowing, no words can ever express that intensity which vijay intents at that particular moment.

Another best part is the love angle between Amitabh and Praveen babhi is not given much of importance, unlike of our tradional cinema.

The last scene of the movie, where vijay prays for his Mom is again tremendous and full of energy, he has simply transformed the cliché dialog into one of the most memorable ones; "Aaj Kush to bahut honge tum" Although Vijay (Amitabh) portray's the gray shaded character and Ravi (Shashi Kapoor) plays the honest cop, its vijay which impacts and connects more then Ravi's character, thats why i said it was way ahead of its time.

The character of Vijay is based on the real character, Haji Mastan big time smuggler from Mumbai.

After watching movies like Deewar, Trishul and Kabhi Kabhi, i always baffles about the current choice of Chopra camp. God Bless them with some Sane ideas.
