The Eagle (2011)
Boy, was this disappointing
I'm a huge fan of eagles and am a member of the North American Eagle Gazing and Eagle Rescue (N.A.E.G.E.R.) So when a movie called "The Eagle" came out, I was pumped. Little did I know, it wasn't about an eagle at all. It was basically just like "Gladiator". Now, I have no problem with films that have to do with Roman times but c'mon... We've had "Gladiator", "300", "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure", "Year One", and now this. Give it a rest, Hollywood! So there's my rant about it not being about eagles, now I'll discuss the actual movie.
Despite the movie not featuring one of the most majestic creatures ever to face this planet, the movie wasn't too bad. You can get the plot by reading it on this site so I won't go into that. It's a love story, it's an action movie, it's a comedy- It's really all over the place. I felt that any slapstick would be unnecessary but if someone had slipped and fell, it would have been comical, considering the serious tone that the movie tried to achieve.
Man, I really wish there was more eagles in this movie though... I love eagles.
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (2011)
I've got Bieber Fever!
I am a HUGE Justin Beeber fan. I have a lot of posters, cassette tapes, etc. I've seen him in concert twice but this was better than both of those concerts combined! The movie is one part documentary and one part stage show. It's a little bit like Michael Jackson's This Is It except Justin Bieber isn't dead.
The 3D makes it really awesome! I saw it on a big IMAX screen and this is the ideal way to see it. It's like you're there with Justin. Wow.
I know Justin is only 14 years old but he presents himself very maturely. It shows home videos of him as a kid playing with instruments and banging on buckets like drums. His whole family and some friends are in the movie and talk about silly things he did as a child.***(Minor spoiler) His grandmother tells the story of Justin's friend Kyle where Kyle ran around yelling "JUSTIN BEIBER IS BIG STAR! BIG STAR!" LOL! I highly recommend it. I gave it a 9 because it wasn't long enough! LOL!
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
I expected better
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is about this guy, Scott Pilgrim and this girl he has a thing for. Originally he just wants to get some action from her but when that doesn't work he says maybe I'm in love with her. After that she gives him a chance. The only condition is he has to fight her ex boyfriends.
The ex boyfriends are by far more entertaining than Michael Cera is. Michael Cera is like a walking, talking stick. He plays the same role he always does.
There aren't many action scenes and the only good action scene is the one where they're on some scaffolding on Mount Rushmore. That was pretty cool.
That was really the only part I liked, aside from the females in the movie. If you really want to see this, I'd wait for the Blu-Ray.
Lottery Ticket (2010)
How many times should you watch this? OVER 9000!
This is just the feel good comedy of the summer. Soulja Boy plays a kid who wins the lottery but the ticket gets stolen by some thug gangsters.
Hilarity ensues as all these people chase each other around the neighborhood trying to get this lottery ticket! There's even some action in it too! Uh-oh! Look out! Box office smash? I think so! The acting was pretty good. I really believed that these people craved money so badly.
I think you should check this movie out "fo' sho'!" as several of the characters in the movie would say! Great laugh out loud comedy with a lot of heart in the urban setting.
Gedo senki (2006)
Pretty decent flick
Tales from Earthsea, or TfE as us hipsters call it, is a pretty good movie. It tells the story of a guy who finds a dragon and befriends it. I think his name was Pete in the movie but the credits list him as a different name which is a bit confusing but doesn't take anything away from the movie.
The use of cartoon and live action is a great idea. It's more like live action characters in a cartoon world sometimes. They only appear once in a while but when you see them you should recognize some of them. Like Bill Murray I think has an uncredited cameo.
The director and other filmmakers do an excellent job telling the story and it is an interesting story too. Good for the whole family even the older kids who think they're too cool for cartoons.
Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010)
This movie is just bad!
The story is about Nanny Mcfee and she goes to nanny for this house but the kids aren't very nice. She hatches a plan to teach the kids a lesson and that's what happens...
For some reason she has a bag that is magic or something and she can put like coat hangers and stuff in it. I really didn't see the point of it all.
Some parts reminded me of Grampa Joe from Willy Wonka. I don't remember which ones and it's not important. They reference a lot of children's books but either they made them up or something because I didn't remember any of those book titles.
Just avoid this movie at all costs.
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (2010)
"Inception" has a Contender
I have been waiting months for this movie. My mom dropped me off at the theater for an early screening in my town. I still have a promo shirt for the first C&Ds movie so I wore that. I'll get to the actual movie now.
The special effects are amazing. Especially when the dogs are flying. I have no idea how they got those dogs and cats to fly around on hover crafts and stuff. I really don't think any computer graphics are used. If they are, they are REALLY GOOD! I certainly can't tell! This movie will give Inception a run for it's money! I wouldn't be surprised if this movie knocks Inception out of the #1 spot AND passes it as one of the top 3 movies rated on IMDb. IT'S THAT GOOD! The movie is basically about a drug lord who smuggles cocaine into the United States through bags of dog food. When people start reporting illness in their pets, the magic dogs and cats try to find out what happens.
Chris O'Donnell could get an Oscar nomination for this. His performance was nothing short of amazing. Like when he played Robin in that Batman movie.
When the animals talk it looks really cool. I bet they used peanut butter or something to make them talk.
The bottom line is this movie is incredible. Better than Inception, Dark Knight, Kazaam, or any movie in the Scary Movie franchise. Go see it.
