The first couple episodes were not too bad. I don't typically watch these kind of shows, but I was curious and the first three or so episodes kept me engaged. However, from there, it just got plain goofy causing the show to loose credibility.
Here are a few things that just don't work, are ridiculous or aren't even close to being logical:
According to Ronny, absolutely everything they see or experience is related to a Bigfoot report from somewhere. I seriously thought Dr. Mayor was going to slap him when he told her that her dream was not a dream, but was in fact Bigfoot making giggling children noises outside her tent. I guess Bigfoot knew she was missing her kids. Other things from Bigfoot manually pushing down trees to gifting people to Bigfoot sightings being close to cemeteries. It's just silly. There are tens of thousands of downed trees in a forest, especially old growth forest. Does Bigfoot push them all down? There are also odd little cemeteries all over the place in remote mountain areas. Where else were they supposed to bury people in 1880 while working and living there?
Two people, possibly three with the cameraman, go into an unknown mine at 3:00am. Everyone there just piles in. That's safe. What if it collapsed? Who'd be there to contact help? Who would do that? Especially a seasoned field scientist. And if a cinnabar mine is so toxic, how could Bigfoot, not only a mammal, but possibly a primate, survive the toxicity? We also had within these same scenes Russell not being able to contact Ronny and Dr. Mayor. Only for communication being magically restored right when they are going into the mine.
Throughout the series there's places where everyone says to be quiet and Dr. Mayor is actually whispering, but Ronny is practically yelling.
In the episode where they discuss touch DNA, they find a "nest". Why wouldn't they test it for touch DNA? Why not just take the whole darn nest? Does Bigfoot hunt with a weapon (Chewbacca uses a crossbow) because the "nest" looks remarkably like a blind set up by a hunter. They didn't even look for anything in there. Subsequent to that, they never looked for DNA again. Why not on the marble Bigfoot supposedly left, the bones in the abandoned house or the bone they seem to think couldn't possibly end up on a tree trunk in a forest. The tree that Bigfoot supposedly marked and scratched? The footprint? .
There's no grizzlies in Oregon.
The data analysis based on 50 years of sightings is a fresh idea. At least to me. And a great theory to start with. Some of the other tech/tools should have been used from day one (airship, ATV) or in lieu of other tools (thermal binoculars vs. standard or more use of the FLIR). Why not use LIDAR to remove the trees (though I'm not sure it would find wildlife)? Or FLIR from a drone? Works great on Extinct or Alive.
The glowing orbs I'm not even going to get into. Ok course, according to Ronny, orbs are typical for Bigfoot sightings. Chewbacca and the Millennial Falcon?
Russell has an underwater drone and sees a possible steer skull. He thinks that's odd. Not really, it's the mountains. We once found a half buried horse skull at 12,000 ft in Colorado. Lots of people worked and lived in mountain forests in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Which leads me to one more example. Russell asks why there may be an abandoned house. Because someone lived there once maybe? A homesteader? I guess the question was a reason to find out about the mine, which coincidentally is being entered right now, but he can't get them on the radio! Oh no! Thank goodness for the super fast research by Bryce which was just in time to save the day!
What happened to the many motion cameras they set up in episode one? They were all WiFi connected and supposedly covered everywhere. They have never ever talked about them again. They did talk about the video camera set up much later, but not the others.
I found Dr.Mayor to be very credible, and probably one of the main reasons I watched. As a respected scientist, she's adds credibility, but why would she be "Indiana Jones"? He's an archaeologist and professor whereas she is a biologist/primatologists/tv anchor. I guess the travel? Makes zero sense to me.
The show drifted slowly at first, then at full speed toward UFOs and supernatural occurrences. Chewbacca and the Millennial Falcon? He's either a mammal or not. This is where I really started to doubt the show completely. It was fun at first, but made zero sense later on and I would get all hung up on why did they do this and not that.
I could go on, but that's enough! I think you get the point. And in the end, did they find Bigfoot? What do you think?
