Paradise Now (2005)
Very Moving
I saw the movie and was left thinking after the credits of all the aspects of injustice and what can lead a person to madness and suicide. The moving was truly fascinating and moving, acted very well both all the three main actors being a fluent Arabic speaker i was totally able to focus on the movie. The family struggle to live under occupation and we are shown Israel with High rising building very modern then Palestine is shown houses bulldozes families just about living on the basics. I would advise anyone to watch the movie it doesn't favour or justify suicide bombing it explains the question WHY???? and does it in a well and sophisticated way also with the power of words.
King Kong (2005)
Kong is KING
WHen i went to see King Kong I did'nt really know what to expect but after watching it it was one of the most amazing movies I have come across. I thought Jackson proved himself with Lord Of THe Rings but after making King King hes one of the top directors in Hollywood. The movie itself has a message which only some will understand. The acting was superb Naomi Watss was amazing. I love the last words of the film they were heartbreaking as well as superb. " It was'nt the planes that killed it, it was beauty that killed the beast" Absolutely Fascinating everyone should see it but keep in mind its 3 hours long but its worth it.
Private (2004)
Great Heartfelt movie
I saw this movie on DVD and was fascinated by the screenplay and how the film was visualised. I could see the pain and horror the Palestinian family had to go through. Being occupied does eventually make you go insane and takes away from you any freedom you have and your left with nothing and you rather be dead than under occupation as the woman says in it. It was a moving piece only that it could have elaborated a bit more on the story. It would have been interesting to see what the Israeli army's story was in the film and exactly why the occupied the house. I recommend everyone to see this extraordinary movie. It's a film that really shows the political and personal effects upon individuals.
West Beyrouth (À l'abri les enfants) (1998)
A good piece of cinema
I recently saw this movie on DVD and it was quite interesting and in a way moving. Although the movie could have been better such as more of the conflict could have been shown there were many moving parts such as the shooting of the bus. The movie shows what the Lebanese people had to go through under french rule. I would recommend it as its a good piece of history. The movie which begins in a school with mixed Christians and muslims was interesting and the fact that a Christian girl becomes best friends with two muslims just shows its not always about religion. Now though Lebanon is a mixed country with both Christians and muslims in harmony lets hope another civil war doesn't break out.
Devdas (2002)
Devdas is only for the Hindi and Urdu speaking
These people who say the movie is crap say so because they do not understand the movie through its literature and language that is what makes the film unique and made it a hit worldwide its a shame the new generation cannot speak Hindi OR URDU especially if they live outside of India and Pakistan they loose their mother tongue. If only they could understand the beauty in the language of the film then it would be an even more hit to the younger generation. Anyway the movie to me was a classic and there shall never be anything like it again. I applause all the cast especially Madhuri for her best movie and Aishwarya for her beautiful show and acting was superb and of course Shah Rukh Khan was amazing as usual with Kirron Kher a gem.
Der Untergang (2004)
An amazing movie
This movie really depicted the utter destruction Germany went through under Hitler. It showed how Hitlers madness lead him to the deaths of millions and the people of Germany paid for it. Its amazing the Germany has recovered from the effects of the war but still the wounds of history remain. The acting was superb in the movie especially Bruno Ganz who plays Hitler was awesome he deserves all the praise. The suffering the people went through at that time i cannot even imagine thank god i was not alive in 1945. The movie starts in 1945 and Hitler chooses an assistant. The movie gave me the impression that Hitler was mentally ill leading him to commit crimes against humanity which the German people had to pay for his doings. Overall a magnificent German movie and A MUST SEE by every German/German speaker and movie-goer one of the best war time movies ever and the reviews say that!
Black (2005)
The Best movie by Bhansali
I was eagerly waiting for this movie and It was worth everything. It was amazing from start to finish no doubt. The acting by Rani and Amitabh was exceptional nothing I've seen in Indian cinema before I will definitely watch this movie again and again and it will certainly always be as good as previous. All the awards to Bhansali. I praise him from moving away from the stereotypical Bollywood style and instead make a more internationally appealing movie. The only point i didn't like was that the movie had both English and Hindi dialogue which was quite unexpected but the script was exceptionally good and poetic. Every person who knows Hindi cinema should opt for this movie.
Kisna: The Warrior Poet (2005)
Beautiful Film
Kisna was a great film from start to finish although like every other film it had flaws. The second half did drag a bit but was necessary to watch. The songs were amazing and each song is unique. The new comers in the film like Antonia Bernath who have a great performance even though her Hindi was not as good but she did her best, I think she should reconsider bollywood but nevertheless her acting proved she was a star. If she learnt Hindi in depth and came out fluent then there's no problem, the other new comer Isha was a good cast to she can make it big. I think Kisna will not get as much attention as films Like Veer Zaara therefore i doubt it's success the attention was probably down to promotion. Overall I class the film a hot which has a different theme best film I've seen for ages. 10/10
Veer-Zaara (2004)
A class of its own
I was eagerly awaiting the release of this movie as were many other people. I have to say it was not what i was expecting to a certain extent, nevertheless it was a true epic which touches the hearts of individuals. It does not have a typical Bollywood movie storyline it has a very important message a message of love and peace. The actors have done a marvelous job and Rani Mukherjee is great as is Preity Zinta. The music is first class. The thing the movie gets wrong is the culture of Pakistan which is not really what it is as depicted in the film but gets near enough. I next time i probably watch the movie is in my living room. Overall a good film by a love legend.
Dev (2004)
Very Unique
This Film was a real experience of what can go on inside the police force. Beautifully presented with Kareena Kapoors best acting so far made it a film to watch. The film which depicts the tortures of muslims and hindus in India was really heartfelt and the film has a message which films seldomly give.
The mistreating of hindus and especially muslims in the film really makes your eyes water. The films gives a message of justice (Insaaf) and how people should fight for their right and freedom till there last breath. Amitabh is as always a terrific performer. Not to mention the film does have some emotion and controversy between Kareena and Fardeen but we have all seen that before and it's nothing new. This is the One FILM THAT shouldn't be left out!
