Monster Man (2003)

Now this is what B-movie horrors should be like
6 April 2005
I got to see a promo copy at work, sat down to watch it with mates along with curry and drinks and all i can say is, this movie was fun, fast and had me in stitches.

Watching it on your own may scare you if your easily frightened.

If you love a good horror this has the elements, but may leave you disappointed.

If you have friends over and want an easy to watch movie, GO FOR IT! Me and my chums loved it from start to finish, a quality piece of film that is rarely seen in B-movies. Sure it rips off jeepers creepers and the Texas chainsaw massacre. But I'm not complaining! A well deserved 8 / 10

May not be the best film ever made, but man it rocked!
19 December 2004
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't a big fan of the games but i played them and enjoyed them thoroughly and take note like the first film its not a sequel or prequel or even a direct conversion of the games.

The movie begins with what happened between Alice's return to the surface with friend Matt up until the point she wakes up in the last part of the 1st movie. Racoon City has been over run with those infected with the T-virus, the Umbrella Corporation who have been carrying out top secret research into Cell re-growth, Re-Animation of dead cells and the creation of a super soldier-type procedure. As soon as the infection stretches to the city limits Umbrella seal off the perimeters to the city leaving the remaining inhabitants trapped inside.

Along with them is Jill Valentine (also a character in the games) and various members of S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics And Resque Squadron - i think) they and Alice are being hunted not only by the ravenous undead but the unstoppable behemoth the Nemesis who is Alice's friend Matt who had been experimented on. All in the hope of finding the daughter of T-virus creator Dr Ashcroft and escaping.

The Film in my opinion did an excellent job of re-creating the Nemesis while including some kick-ass fights and a few cheesy 'Bullet Time' effects.

>If you liked the 1st movie, you'll like this. >If you liked the games, you'll probably despise this. >If you are into standard zombie / gun-play movies you'll love this.

As for me, i thought it was ace!

Funny, if you like animation
19 May 2004
I saw this on the day it was released, and i couldn't help myself laughing! I thought it was terrific, the animation was both cheesy and clever. The acting was over the top but very funny and the characters were so goofy they made the show ace!

But for someone to like it they would have to like silly humour because thats what this show is.

It is about a group of animals who have been experimented on and they believe they are from the past when animals were rulers of the planet, as they wander the country trying to find a place to rest the, scientists fear that they might reveal the secrets of the testing sight. Having created a half cat half gorilla killing machine they send him out to capture the animals, hilarity ensues, thats basically it.

7/10!!!!!

SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs (2003 Video Game)
Possibly the best PS2 game in the world to date!!!!
6 April 2004
I wasn't much of a Socom fan when the first game was released, my friends kept on saying how it was an amazing game and that i should get it. Eventually i got round to purchasing my copy of Socom 1, i was quite surprised as to the effectiveness of the headset that gave you the ability to command your three other squad mates around and the general feel of the game. But the story mode only went so far and i would have rated the game about a 7/10, then i got it online. Long story short i loved it to death, and when Socom 2 came out i was on my hands and knees thanking the lord for a sequel.

Socom 2 online is amazing without online it scores around about 7-8/10, but with online it could score 10. Sadly the developers rushed the European version and the game falls in so many areas such as the tremendous amount of lag that rarely happened in the first game, and the terrorist weapons really are crap when compared to the seals. Still this game is amazing and with the added fact of unlocking Russian Spetznaz operatives and British SAS special forces *YAY!* this game will consume you and generally hook you after your first five minutes of play. A word of warning though! If you plan to get online don't feel to bad if you repeatedly get your arse completely thrashed for the first couple of months or so, people who play online play from 3 to 10 hours a day! I have been playing the Socom games online now for 8 months for at least 2 hours a day when i can, and i still get caned!!!!!

Socom 1 = 7/10, Socom 2 = 9/10, Socom 3 = I can't wait to find out!!!

Final Fantasy X-2 (2003 Video Game)
May not be to everyones taste, but amazing none the less!
25 February 2004
I played Final Fantasy VII many years ago, i loved it i thought it was the best in the series so far. Then this year i played Final Fantasy X i thought it was the best game ever made, and i am hard to sway. I got very emotionally involved in FFX and stupid as it might seem, i was very sad after i completed it because i had invested so much time in it. The characters and storyline were very powerful and hearing the prospect that "Tidus" the main character in FFX would be part of the plot in FFX-2, i had to buy to see if him and Yuna the summoner ever got reunited. Regaurdless of what other people think the Three main characters in FFX-2 work very well together:

Yuna-The quiet but ever strengthening Lead character Rikku-The Sassy Al-Bhed Thief Paine-The Daughter of "Auron" the warrior gaurdian from FFX

These Sexy ladies are what make the game great! And you just want to get that 100% completion to see the "Full Perfect Ending". While FFX was better, this isn't far behind.

Note: To fully apreciate FFX-2 you will have to buy/rent FFX to find out about the world of Spira and its characters.

A beautiful game just like its Predecessors

8/10!

Spaceballs (1987)
No-Brainer trash, basically not Mel's best work
5 February 2004
In simple terms its a Star Wars spoof, having seen Robin Hood Men In Tights i looked forward to watching some of Mel Brooks' earlier work. Having sat down and watched it i must have laughed about twice. I say laughed they were more limp smirks, anyway to make things brief only watch if you are a die hard Mel Brooks fan or just take interest in stupid comedies other wise buy or rent yourself a copy of Robin Hood Men In Tights its better!

My personal judgement does not cloud my fine comedy detector so i give this poor film a poor score: 2/10

Extremely Terrible!!!!
27 January 2004
Warning: Spoilers
A word of warning, unless you have an obscure sense of humour or you are an Emin3m fan you will absolutely hate this. Basically Slim Shady is the alter ego of Emin3m's real persona Marshall Mathers III these two live with 4 other mis-fits in Em's drunken Auntie's tailer in a run down tailer park. Em and his big pal coincidentally called Big D are on a mission to pound the living sh*t (as they put it) out of any celebrity they meet. Marshall desperatley seeks to get bedded by every beauty that comes along, the others play minor roles that are non-essential. To put it plainly i hated this, i really wish it had been better because i respect Em' as an artist. But the only fault here is the cartoon itself, the animation and drawings are worse than South Park (Which is basic but still very good)and the humour is dry and un-funny. This show strives to be the excellence of South Park with the exception that they swear a whole lot more, fails at every hurdle.

About a 2-3/10, just avoid. Is not worth the money.

Could have been so much more
27 January 2004
I waited with anticipation for "Street Fighter" the live action movie to be released over in the UK, i waited in line calmly holing my own video copy of the movie patiently waiting to be served. Finally it came to my turn i paid for it and was on my way home to watch it in the comfort of my own home. I sat back and prepared for utter thrills, spills and kills to be unleashed upon me. I sat for about 90 minutes thinking "did i make the right choice in buying this?" At the end i put the video away and continued with waiting for "Mortal Kombat Annihilation" to be released in the next 3 years.

The thing with the "Street Fighter movie" wasn't that it was bad, it just wasn't good.

The story has three perspectives: 1) Ryu and Ken are 2 ruthless Honoured martial artists who like the thrill of gun smuggling, the reason why is they would sell toy guns to a very powerful cage fighter called Sagat but they are arrested along with Sagat and his faithful follower Vega who is also a cage fighter. The foursome wind up in a UN prison camp.

2) Colonel. Guile is a hard American (Belgian if we are speaking of Jean Claude van-damm)soldier who has held a grudge against warlord general M Bison for a number of years, after striking an agreement with Ken and Ryu to set up Guile's fake assassination in exchange for there freedom and help. Guile leads a UN army to battle that of Bison's.

3) Chun LI a feisty Japanese reporter turned mercenary along with her two bodyguards an ex-boxer and a sumo wrestler also are on Bison's trail, after a failed attempt at killing him they are imprisoned with Ryu and Ken after they to were discovered to be spys.

The Film ends with the confrontation between Guile and Bison with some other fights with the rest of the cast, and the destruction of Bison's HQ, hooray everybody good wins every bad guy loses. Your basic good vs evil plot, the film is to be taken as light-heartedly as possible because there is quite a bit of non sensical humour.

New comers will enjoy, whereas fans of the cracking Manga and games will feel unimpressed.

My rating would be about 5/10

Coupling (2003)
Sadly does not compare to the original
26 January 2004
I love coupling (British Version) i think it is one of the best Brit-comedy shows around, every episode is packed with hilarious situations and sexual innuendo. America has Friends which is quite possibly one of the funniest if not best show to come from across the pond. Coupling was from our point of view to show what the British person was like when seeking a love life, of course Jeff the amazingly funny Welshman does come out with some outrageous sentiments but that and the other actors was what made it so damn funny.

I managed to download an episode of the 'Americanized' NBC version of Coupling my cousin sent me from Colorado, I watched it and thought well this is okay but it feels like the actors are forced into their roles and are uncomfortable in them. Where as in the original the characters inter-acted so well with each other, you actually thought it was what could really happen. I don't want to completely b*tch the 'new' version but i don't really think it needed converting, i mean many people from America would be able to understand and enjoy the humour. So why Americanize? Well because there is money to be made. Yes coupling is basically friends rapped in a Union Jack but at least it isn't the genius of friends written for us Brits, its pure comedy for everyone that cannot be re-written.

Sorry NBC its just pure tosh!

Original Coupling - 9/10 New Coupling - 4/10

P.s I do not wish to offend anyone who likes the new coupling, just heed my advice and check out the original before you completely pass judgement.

Why?
11 January 2004
There is only one way to describe this awful, diabolical excuse for a film. And since i do not wish to release my full anger on the fact that this movie sucked, and that i could swear eight times in one sentence, to express my self i will just say:

Complete waste of Celluloid, just like reading this comment was a waste of 45 seconds of your life. 45 seconds in which you could pick up the video box and smash it to pieces and say i don't think i'll watch it after all.

Avoid as though it were a William Shatner album!

Family Guy (1999– )
Family Guy = new Simpsons but 10x better
11 January 2004
I love Family guy so much i want to keep this brief, Fox you had a sure fire hit on your hands you could have made so much money. Everyone loves Family Guy so why only 3 series!? It was the funniest thing i have seen in a long time. Sure the episode "One if by clam, Two if by sea" offended me a little because i am English, and that most of the things said about us wasn't very accurate or funny but you have to sometimes sit back and just laugh at yourself. This is probably why it was axed because it offended to many people but damn it, it was funny!

Sorry to see you leave Family Guy, i look forward to the movie. (lets hope it can get you a couple more series!)

The Simpsons (1989– )
Where would we be without them?
11 January 2004
One word to describe The Simpsons genious is not enough, get to 1000 and your about half way there, ever since watching the first episode on the telly i was hooked on what is possibly the biggest cartoon comedy to ever be concieved. I love the way Homer is just that slight bit less intelligent than his friends and relatives, i like the fact that each character is unique and i especially like Moe he is the king.

Sadly though the serious has begun to slip into decline as it nears its 14th or 15th season, yes it has been on the air for over 10 years and the drawing has become top-notch now it is done on the computer. But now the storylines are just getting all to familiar, linear or completley stupid, there is the odd joke that will make me laugh but one can see that ideas are becoming scarce.

I would hate to see The Simpsons go out on a bad note say in about another 4 years time after everyone is sick of them (god forbid), but i think it is time for them to go out on a big bang with all the best remaining ideas and send them to the holy comedy club in the sky.

Thank you for the best 10 years of my life

Red Dwarf (1988– )
Red Dwarf = Smegging funny
11 January 2004
Red Dwarf, a programme unlike any other 52 episodes into the 21st century. The mining ship Red Dwarf has constantly kept a smile on my face and proved that british comedy is the best thing to happen to TV.

Craig Charles is truly Lister in his own disgusting un-hygienic way, Chris Barrie is Rimmer to the core presenting both the cowardly and brave Arnold (Ace) Judas Rimmer. Danny John Jules shows the vanity in a person so well you would think that he was that vain in real life and that un-intelligently shallow. And Robert Llwelyn is the best Mechanoid striving to be human that has ever been portrayed on film. And one cannot forget the generous contributions of Norman Lovett and Hattie Hartridge as the half baked computer brain of Red Dwarf Holly/Hilly.

I have loved every episode from every series though series 4-6 are the best by far, anyone who has watched Red Dwarf and not even smiled once is a humourlous Smeg Head! And they deserve to be subjected to back to back episodes of Red Dwarf until they admit that they love it.

Red Dwarf i soloute you, Stoke me a kipper i'll be back for the movie!

Spaceballs (1987)
Rubbish!
11 January 2004
To be honest i was looking forward to a brilliant movie having recieved rave reviews from a friend of mine, and i loved Mel Brooks' previous and following titles such as 'Robin Hood Men In Tights'. So i syked myself up for movie ecstacy expecting pure comedy heaven, how wrong i was unfortunately what followed was about 90 mins of regreting the fact that even though i brought it on sale for £3 i felt that i was robbed. This movie was seriously un-funny all the way through and it ended with me feeling ashamed to have watched all of it.

I know many who have watched and loved it unfortunately i didn't.

Lets hope if there is a SpaceBalls 2, it will have better comedy.
