One of the lowest budget movies ever
14 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The actual premise is interesting but this movie had a zero budget and horrible acting. The props are from dollar tree and Harbor Freight. It's so nonsensical they even use a person in a monster suit like in Creature from the Black Lagoon! In 2023?! Even CGI can be had for practically nothing but these guys obviously couldn't do it. I love camp and B movies but couldn't make it past the guy in the monster suit. The mini sub is hilarious plexiglass and crime scene tape. The sub dive hatch is Home Depot and the light switches are Dollar Tree and Harbor Freight. It was just too silly to endure for long. The extra star though is for the one plot element that was cool. An ancient structure deep in the ocean where no human could possibly have ever gone. Someone could take that premise and with a budget, do something cool along the lines of Stargate and Alien but undersea. There have been some passable ocean horror movies but one more would be great.

Columbo: Columbo Goes to College (1990)
Season 10, Episode 1
10/10
Best episode of the 2nd gen Columbo
18 February 2024
This episode harkens back to the original series with a crime worthy of Columbo's talents. The deviation is in this episode the killers aren't likable while in the original series you kinda feel for the bad guys or gals. Two rich spoiled college kids steal a test then murder the professor who catches them. They have some cool toys. Especially their decked out 1990 Toyota Pickup. This is a classic episode that looks like the late eighties, early nineties it takes place in. Columbo as usual befriends the killers as he dupes them with his aw shucks demeanor. Funny part is when one of the bad kids does a hilarious mocking impression of Columbo while they think he's not watching. Features some actors from the original series as well to boot. If you liked the original series, watch this one for sure.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Time's Orphan (1998)
Season 6, Episode 24

A quantum leap backwards for Trek lore
31 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
A child rescued from an uninhabited planet from the past with zero socialization skills is basically sentenced to a penal colony after attacking a bar patron in Quarks. Parents O'Briens abandon her by sending back to avoid sentencing. What parent would do that? Any parent I know would stop at nothing to save her or at the least, go back with her. Abandon a life of Starfleet to be with your child? Not the O'Briens apparently. It does work out through a temporal paradox at the end but this episode was a mess. It abandons everything good about Star Trek and makes out DS9 out to be a space station full of uncaring, self centered characters. Even Sisko washes his hands of helping his so called friend and chief engineer. Picard would have gone all out to save his officer's child.

Signs meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets A Quiet Place
1 January 2024
If you're a fan of those movies, you might like this. Just don't expect to have everything wrapped up in a bow at the end. You're going to have to use your imagination.

A beatnik girl battles aliens and her own personal demons. This movie starts fast and keeps it up until the end. No time wasted on back story, dialogue, or technobabble. You have to remember she's just a girl not an Avenger or Wonder Woman although she manages to give a good account of herself. The effects are great and it's tense yet exciting. I don't consider the movie to be full of jump scares, it's just tension packed. It's definitely not for everyone. If you go into it expecting Alien or Independence Day even, you'll be disappointed. I think M. Night fans will be most satisfied with this.

Best reincarnation of Godzilla since the originals
2 December 2023
Subtitled Japanese version of Godzilla doesn't fail to please. This movie is for the fans of the original movies who don't mind sketchy effects and predictable dialogue. It follows the story of a young kamikaze pilot who survives the end of WWll by going awol to avoid death. He struggles throughout the movie with his guilt while encountering Godzilla various times. The movie moves at a pace similar to the original Raymond Burr starring film. It would have been interesting to have seen this movie in black and white. At times the movie drags but later on it picks up and has plenty of action to its predictable ending. All in all, if you are a fan of the old school Godzilla, you'll like this offering.

Revolt, surprisingly not revolting at all
14 June 2023
Aliens have invaded Earth but with killer drones, not in person. This movie takes place in Africa and features a special forces soldier with amnesia battling the drones plus hostile locals. If you are a fan of Battle Los Angeles and War of the Worlds- Tom Cruise style, you'll probably like this. It features good effects, action from the start, and doesn't get into back story or techno babble. It's also pretty short so you don't feel cheated. The settings and fighting feels very real and it's tense throughout. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie and was impressed that the effects weren't like something from the Sci Fi channel. If this genre is your thing, give it a chance.

Don't avoid The Void!
13 June 2023
This movie combines many successful horror movies such as John Carpenter's Thing, Hellraiser, Event Horizon, Pandorum, Alien, and countless others to create a movie that works. It's like a sampler of horror! It has good effects, a feeling of doom throughout, and no down time. It gets started right away and doesn't stop. It's gore, horror, sci-fi, occult, all rolled into one. If you enjoyed the movies it draws from, you'll enjoy The Void.

A group of people trapped in a rural, closed down hospital battling cult like figures assisted by horrific creatures and the un-dead. The ending seems open to a sequel but it's almost an instant horror classic as is. It feels vintage but with better special effects. Definitely worth watching if you're a fan of this genre.

Invasion (2021–2024)

Invasion is a cure for insomnia
29 May 2023
Amazing that in 2023, there is no formula to write a decent show about an alien invasion. Like watching paint dry or grass grow? Well this is for you. Who vets a show like this and says, we've got a hit on our hands. This is a streaming tv service filling a cake with crumpled up newspaper. There's no excitement, no likeable characters, no discernible plot, nothing. Many children could write a more exciting alien invasion show than this. Don't waste your time watching this invasion show expecting action or actual aliens. No true sci fi fan will be able to justify the time spent watching this poor excuse for a show.

It's LOST all over again
17 May 2023
I'd say the positive reviews are from people who either never endured LOST or actually liked it. This is a reboot. Obviously they are dead in some kind of purgatory. You can't make this show work. It can't exist in the real world we know at all. Electricity, mail, food, etc. LOST was made an episode at a time and was so nonsensical. Darma? The numbers? It just serves no purpose. This show is the same. No logic applies. If you are looking for a weird drama that goes nowhere, this is the show for you. I am a fan of all genres of TV and movies but i can't make a copy of LOST work in 2023. The music, characters, non logical stuff is a direct copy.

No spoilers
29 April 2023
Because it can't be spoiled it's so bad. There's nothing to spoil. Seriously. If you watch this, do so on a rainy day at 7AM, while working as I did so you're not bitter about the wasted time. I like end of the world stuff, B movies, all genres, M Night, etc and this was horrible. There's literally nothing to it. The beginning is tense and you think it's going to lead somewhere but it does not. After awhile you are led to believe there is going to be a big revelation, but it never happens. It's like it's missing a huge chunk of plot. The end is nonsensical. I can't even compare it to anything of substance. You've been warned.

Star Trek Continues: What Ships Are For (2017)

Mirror mirror!
3 January 2023
Amazing true to the times episode. Star Trek continues to attack societal issues head on. Amazing how the one star reviewers don't recognize what Star Trek is all about. How long has it been since you watched "Let that be your last Battlefield"? One star reviewers don't want to look in the mirror because these episodes hit so close to home. Star Trek is and always has been about acceptance, inclusivity, and social justice. There are very few episodes that stand alone and don't address these issues blatantly. How can one not see that? If you can't see that, rewatch TOS one episode at a time and you'll see the color for the first time- not unlike the population in this episode.

Holy slowness Batman!
15 August 2022
This movie moves like a snail on flypaper. Shot like a Blair Witch documentary. The only people who may be able to tolerate it are the fans of Interstellar and 2000. As a sci fi fan I was only able to get through it while convalescing after surgery. A captive audience if you will. The plot has more holes than swiss cheese. It does have some interesting ideas but just didn't work for me.

Total camp garbage
9 August 2022
A disgrace to a funny series. This installment in the series should not have been made. It's so bad I'm surprised they didn't have Murphy make a trip to outer space in the movie. It's not funny, well written, or acted. It makes zero sense. I tried to finish it but could not. Don't waste your time or tarnish the memory of the first two movies by watching this.

Just ridiculous camp starring Andy Griffith
9 August 2022
It's hilarious watching Andy Griffith and the cast of this show pretend they are flying a literal pile of garbage into space and all over the globe! I remember watching this as a kid and am glad to have found it on Crackle. It's just pure camp fun. Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed.

Hate to add a poor review but...
20 June 2022
This episode was an epic fail. So easy to take over the Enterprise? So easy to take it back? Mean pirates but no clue at the end? Captain Pike cooks his way out of captivity? C'mon. I've seen EVERY episode of EVERY iteration of Star Trek. This was scrap heap material. Sorry but let's never speak of this one again. They get a mulligan.

Worth a watch
22 April 2022
This movie was great, suspenseful, right up until the very end. I admit I was disappointed with the ending and wrap up. Weird as that is, I still highly recommend you watch it if you enjoy classic slashers. The automaton scene is the best ever! And the musical score is excellent.

Potential but lacking
15 April 2022
This show is great while in the Moon Night persona but difficult to watch when not. Ironic how the main character's split personality leads to a split personality for the actual show. I find myself bored with the Steven and Mark characters. I may not stick with it much longer.

A movie only an 80s product could love
6 March 2022
It's camp. It's low B grade. It's nonsensical. It's an 80s throwback. No Fright Night for sure but worthy of MST3K or Svenghoulie. If that's your style, you know how to watch and enjoy stuff like this. Horrible mutants kill people while being deathly allergic to water of all things.

Failure to launch
1 February 2022
First of all you better like Interstellar or Space Odyssey if you're even going to attempt to watch this. It's slow and more brainy than anything else. Too much unexplained stuff. Too neat an ending. Just good effects. No joy or laughter. No heck ya moments. Just meh. I'm a sci fi buff and watch all the genres when it comes to space. But this doesn't seem to want to belong to anything. 4 stars for the effects.

US was not for ME
26 January 2022
Essentially a modern day zombie movie where the zombies are all alternate evil universe versions of everyone who is alive. These zombies all have the same red jumpsuits as uniforms and are all equipped with large shears as their primary weapon. I thought this movie was TERRIBLE. And I LOVE zombie movies, sci-fi, B movie stupidity, horror, action etc.

It focuses on one family in particular whose mom as a young girl gave her zombie version the inspiration to move into the regular human reality. This event takes place in a carnival funhouse of mirrors. The plot is weak and nonsensical. It's extremely disjointed and asked me to suspend my disbelief way beyond my limits. It doesn't seem to know what it wanted to be. Scary, funny, thought provoking. It was none of the above in the end. I believe it could have been good but it just tried to be EVERYTHING and wound up being NOTHING. I'd say skip it but I know you will have to find out for yourself. Don't be afraid to just turn it off. It doesn't get better. That was MY mistake.

The Curse is being sucked in
22 January 2022
I have watched every episode from year 1 and I'm bowing out. This is a total farce. How many crackpot theories can they come up with? They obviously have spent more looking for nothing then they will ever find in rusty ox shoes and rotting wood. Those shots of everyone looking at each other in the "war room" are maddening! The cut aways to commercial every time Gary digs up a button or an ox shoe are the final straw. Don't waste your time. I DO feel bad for Rick and Marty because I believe they thought something was there and now they can't seem to extricate themselves from their mess. Maybe they can say the Canadian government won't let them dig anymore.

Good fun! Great soundtrack! Nice visuals!
16 January 2022
Decided to review this movie to give it some love. It's a solid action flick with a cool soundtrack, great visuals, and a good flow. Treasure hunters search for a lost ironclad in a desert while a WHO team tracks the source of a mysterious disease. It's action packed and doesn't have any boring parts. It's kind of a cross between Indiana Jones and View to a Kill lol. Sure it's implausible but what are movies for? Name any fun movie that doesn't defy plausibility. If you just enjoy having fun and aren't the type to say "aw that could never work", you'll like it! BTW yes an ironclad buried in the desert is highly unlikely but so is a riverboat loaded with gold buried in a cornfield- look it up.

No profits here but still good
29 June 2021
This short lived car show was entertaining. Nobody should think they can watch these reality car shows as a restoration guide for their own cars lol. The guys are funny as they operate at a loss in every episode and screw up on camera. One episode Rutledge cuts the bed of a truck too short. Hilarious. Misfit garage without all the language. I wish there was more to watch.

Great movie in the age of Covid 19
22 April 2020
Found this movie on Pluto TV during the Covid stay at home time. I was surprised how good it was! If you like "B" movie horror, you must check it out. It's suspenseful and has quite a bit of dark humor mixed in. I won't spoil it. Just watch it, you've got the time.

Underwater zombie attacking a shark! How could you ask for more? Light Spoilers within
12 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Any zombie movie that has a beautiful topless girl scuba diving being attacked by a zombie on the ocean floor has to be good! Add to that said zombie fighting a shark underwater and WOW! Maybe second to that awesomeness is the spooky score worthy of a Halloween movie. Just needed Donald Pleasance. NY police killed by zombies? Voodoo? Zombie Island? Yup. Since it's a 70s movie, it's got the perfect look as well. Plenty of nonsensical zombie happenings to enjoy and characters doing the stupidest things to make you shout at the tv.. Overall a great movie!
