The first movies was a re-release of The Blob and Hush, Hush Sweet Charolotte. When the curtains openned and the screen welcomed me to the theater, I WAS HOOKED!
I have a small online business saling out-of-print & public domain movies.

Rise of the Zombie (2013)
Interesting take on the modern zombie folklore
Interesting take on the modern zombie folklore. This movie well done for a indie movie. . . Some acting was better than others, overall entertaining. . . Special effects were good. . . The premise borders on true events, such as in Haiti. (See the movie Serpent and the Rainbow.) . . The Western world has gone hook, line & sinker for the modern zombie genre. . . Brought to us by George Romero, Zack Snyder, Tom Savini. (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead) . . That when a movie comes out that goes into a different direction that the established formula, people cry foul. . . I's a good movie, I'll watch it again, if you haven't see it, watch it. for yourself and form your own opinions.
The Bubble (1966)
It was OK for a 1st of two bill movies
When I saw this film, it was in the 1981-1982.
It was titled Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth. It was the first of two movie bill at a local theater in Dayton, Ohio. I don't remember a lot of the movie.
What I remember is the events around the 2nd movie a new movie was released and the title was John Carpenter's The Thing one of the star's in The Thing was Kurt Russell.
He had just recently made a movie about Elvis Presley Most of the people in the audience were women with their kids and the Elvis gear on.
Once the Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth was over the women were excited and they stayed until the husky dog got ripped open they left running in droves.
That's my best memory for The Bubble aka Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth
Apollo 18 (2011)
Interesting Sci-Fi movie
Decades-old found footage from NASA's abandoned Apollo 18 mission.
Where two American astronauts were sent on a secret expedition.
Reveals the reason the U.S. has never returned to the moon.
The film is as close as you can get to a NASA film Good acting by all actors.
Sets & designs are excellent.
Special effects are good.
The movie plays more on the unknown of space with the mood of the actors.
The ending is expected.
Final Destination 5 (2011)
Surprised
Survivors of a suspension-bridge collapse learn there's no way you can cheat Death.
When I see a number after a movie title.
I automatically think "Hollywood has no imagination".
Which is true in most cases.
But I was surprised when I watched the movie.
Same story as the others.
But done with imagination.
Good effects (love the bridge scene).
Good acting from young actors.
I had to watch it twice to catch the ending tie in.
Final Destination & Final Destination 5 are the best of the series.
The Van (1977)
Drive-in classic!
I remember seeing this movie at the drive-in, when I was a teenager. .
I wanted a van so bad after this movie, never happened. . .
For a taste of what the teenagers of the 1970's . .
Wanted and enjoyed, see this movie! . .
The plot seems dated now But at the time.
But the actors are good.
A van was the "it" thing to have at the time.
The Main song for this movie "Chevy Van" . .
Is a classic, every time I hear it . .
Takes me back to that summer and the good times!
Star Trek (2009)
Wonderful movie
I was born in the 1950's, I remember the original series. . . I am fan of the original series. . . I was a fan, because the show was unique . . And seemed to not take it's self too serious . . Time passes and then the Star Trek movie came out . . I was disappointed. . . The movie took itself to serious . . It wasn't fun like the series . . The same way with the other movies . . Except for The Wrath of Khan . . I loved that movie . . Then all the other series that were spin-offs of the original . . And others that were spin-offs of spin-offs . . Then with the last movie with Shattner in it & Kirk dies . . I said "Finally, the franchise's soul had died years before . . Then this new Star Trek, I thought here we go again, raising the dead. . . Boy was I wrong, the new Star Trek rocks! . . They honor the character of the original series . . down to the Tribble on the ice planet where Spock & Kirk find Mr. Scott. . . Couldn't wait to get a copy of DVD. . . For those who loved the original series, it's a must see! . . Live long and Prosper...
Make the Yuletide Gay (2009)
Fun movie, not too heavy handed
I enjoyed this movie. . .
I was not perfect, but it was fun. . .
It didn't preach hard about coming out. . .
It seemed that the problems were that there was no communication from any of them. . .
It had touches from old screw ball movies of the 1940's. . .
Misunderstandings. . .
Confused identities . .
Anya the mother could have played off of the Three Stooges or the Marx Brothers. . .
I would love to see these characters in another movie. . .
Perhaps, the lives of the two young lovers as a couple.
S.S. Doomtrooper (2006)
The Dirty Dozen meet the Nazi Hulk
Well, pretty much has been said that can be said .
Apparently the producer was a Wolfenstein fan .
The special effects were stupid .
The plot had possibilities, but the movie must had been shot in 3 days .
The only reason I give it 4 stars, is because the actors tried.. .
Maybe with a better budget and different creature, .
this movie could had been interesting .
Maybe if they had went into more detail of the creation of the creature
I have heard accents that were that thick it was almost they were trying for camp
So 4 stars to the actors for trying to make something out of this mixed pot of twaddle...
Computercide (1981)
Interesting little movie
I saw this movie when it first aired, thought it was so far fetched that no one would be it.
But the story of a man continuing in a field that basically has been "progressed" out of existence, is not that far fetched now.
Also, a man holding on to things of the past, that don't exist anyway else, isn't that far fetched now.
The idea that the large urban areas would be hyper-tech and the outlying areas would still be using things of the past isn't that far fetched now.
Cloning was considered far fetched, not anymore The movie itself is a unique idea, but wasn't used to its full potential.
The acting is fair to good.
This movie might be worth revisiting as a remake, with the technology we have now, it would be interesting.
I gave it a 6 for the idea, premise, and acting.
Skeleton Man (2004)
What a bone head movie!
I saw this thing on SC-Fi channel (the studio that made it). ..
As like most of Sci-Fi channel made movies, it's cheap! ..
There must be a board of computer geeks running that network. ..
The only character that was any at all (very little) interesting was Captain Leary...
. played by Michael Rooker ...
.. Was the creature an alien or demon? ..
The only scene that was a little interesting was at the end,
when the Skeleton Man was on horse back in the woods, a little eerie.. ..
Otherwise, they should have left the skeleton in the closet. IMHO
One Step Beyond (1959)
It would be nice!
I would be nice if the people who control the rights to the show,
. remaster them and release all 97 episodes to DVD.
. I found 95 of the episodes, but haven't found the "Th Bride" episode and another.
. Outer Limits,
. Twilight Zone,
. One Step Beyond,
. The Inner Sanctum
were the shows to watch for sci-fi, horror on TV as a kid.
. All of the programs, not only entertained but also made you think, dream and look at the world, thinking of the future.
War of the Worlds (2005)
Close to the original story
I'm big fan of the original The War of the World.
I expected that this remake would be crap, like most remakes of the 1950's sci-fi movie.
I was half right, the directors kept close to the original story by H.G. Wells, except for the non-sense about the tripod machines being under ground.
I heard that one thing in the movie, showing a human being slaughtered and vacuumed up to the ship, up set some people. (Try working in a meat slaughter house, you would be upset more.) Tome Cruise fans will hate me, but his real claim to fame is being cute to women and some men.
But he couldn't act his way out a corner.
The special effects were great, the fact that Cruise played a coward and bad father was (I guess) to be a different facet of his acting ability.
Over all the movie was good, but not as good as the original. IMHO 5/10
Murder by Decree (1979)
Good movie, tribute to the characters
I want to start off with:
. . As a child I read all of the Doyle books about Sherlock Homes
. . As a child I was fascinated with Holmes & Watson from the books
. . Then watching the Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce in the movies
. . The only thing that sadden me with older movies, they made Dr. Watson
. . Look like a fool, not what I gleamed from the books.
. . In my teens I saw this movie, it is more gorier than the old versions
. . I consider this movie more realistic
. . This version of the movie Dr. Watson & Sherlock Holmes equal, with
. . his intellect & Watson being more of average intelligence, not a fool.
. IMHO
Damnation Alley (1977)
Too many people using wrong comparisons
The movie was average, I gave it a 5 out of 10. .
The most creative thing was the Land Master vehicle. .
I saw this movie at the drive-in, .
when it was released, I like it. .
Too many people are comparing these old movies .
To today's movies, there's no comparisons. .
The special effects are better now .
But for what they had to work with in 1977 .
the special effects were OK. .
Even Star Wars used the similar effects .
But that was in the dark of space, .
the dark back ground can hide many a mistake. .
Like I said before, 5 out of 10.
The Thing (1982)
It was (or is?) a "Thing"
I first saw this movie when it was first released. .
It was on a double bill with some god-awful 3-D movie.
. . I like a lot of the people who were there . . Had recently seen Kurt Russell as Elvis . . And expected something totally different! . . The lady in the row in front of me was a huge Elvis fan.
. . As the movie progressed, to the creature inhabiting dogs . . she freaked and drug her 2 kids out of the theater! . . Everybody in the theater spoke along with one of the characters . . when he saw the head come off a victim . . "No f&%king way!" Unbelievable movie! . . This movie lives up to the name "The Thing", a great sci-fi flick!
Tears of the Sun (2003)
Not bad
Most of the new action movies don't keep my attention long.
. . But Tears of the Sun did.
. . It tried to tell the story of the hell that Africans are going through.
. . But it was obvious that it was toned down to be marketable in America.
. . It did point out a truth that, the only time that our government gets
. . involved in these other countries, is for good press or financial issues.
. . I was glad to see that Willis' character growth in showing how he & his
. . men. Started showing their humanity towards the villagers.
. . Simular to the movie "The Wild Geese".
28 Days Later... (2002)
Pretty scary, above average
What makes this movie stand out that it's film in digital,
. . . instead of regular film makes it more gritty,
. . . the lack of gore makes it more interesting
. . . I see a lot of the creatures in the movie called zombies
. . . in fact they are infected by a blood born virus that makes them insane
. . . and crazed killers, not zombies.
. . . They never eat flesh and are easily killed
. . . they are slowly dying off as the movie ends. . . .
With the idea of bio terrorism these days makes this movie more scary, . . . well worth seeing.
Land of the Dead (2005)
It's a zombie movie
It's another zombie movie made by the guy who had the nerve to show violent and graphic acts that in the 60's were unspeakable, by a generation that was raised on "Leave it to Beaver" Nothing new in the movie, That wasn't seen in Dawn or Day of the Dead.
These movies are for people to get away from the real terror in the world, don't take them too seriously.
(**Also, just a FYI: The I keep seeing "28 Days Later" creatures called zombies.
They weren't zombies, they never ate flesh, they killed in a frenzy they were infected, and slowly dying off, as mentioned at the end of the movie**)
Ring of Fire (1961)
Excellent movie!
This is a an excellent movie! . .
With a great guitar sound track by Dwayne Eddy . .
The movie maybe dated . .
But the story holds up . .
It's worth seeing . .
David Janssen is great as the police officer . .
Frank Gorshen plays an excellent juvenile delinquent . .
The fire scene towards the end isn't too great . .
But the acting makes up for it! . .
With all the crap being released on DVD . .
why can't the distributors release older movies like this one!?
Nightmare at Noon (1988)
A B-Movie Sci-Fi & western
I saw this movie when it first came out, . Enjoyed the characters, first thought this was spin off of Death . Wish movie, do to name & background of the Bo Hopkins character . (is explained in part during the café fighting scene) . With it's low budget, they did fairly good with the movie . Imagine what could have been if they had double the money . Only real scary part (do to today's terrorists activities, is the .idea of poisoning the water supply) . This age of remakes, maybe someone should dust-off the script . and with a bigger budget, might make a decent movie.
.It's B-Movie sci-fi & western, no more, nothing less.
Popcorn (1991)
I think Wlliam Castle would have gotten a kick out of it!
I've seen worse horror films, (every sequel of Friday 13th & Halloween.)
Paid a lot of respect to the pioneers of the 50's horror.
I think Wlliam Castle would have loved it.
I think the fake movie (Mosquito, Stench) titles that were mentioned in
Popcorn could have been made, sounds like some of the movies made in the 50's.
Think about the movies made in the 50's: "The Blob, Deadly Mantis, Earth vs. the Spider, The H-Man".
William Castle or American International would had done them.
I think the movie is under rated.
The Galaxy Invader (1985)
The title is misleading
If your looking for collection of these schlock films? Check out a DVD collection titled: SciFi Classics 50 movie set.
DVD is produced by TreeLine Entertainment.
This movie was on the collection.
Someone following in the footsteps of George Romero, Sam Rami.
Bunch of friends get together at someone's farm and make a movie.
But the plot idea is interesting.
Instead of the aliens going after the rednecks, the rednecks are after the alien.
If you have a afternoon to kill in the winter, movies like this will do it for you.
Inseminoid (1981)
Only horror was the movie!
This one I saw at the drive-in, a all-night horror fest along with other movies.
The movie started off like most of it's genre.
But soon most of the drive-in were laughing and giving cat calls.
Especially, the one scene the inhabited female attacked the dead body in the morgue-like room, she starts unzipping the dead body's jumpsuit.
Lots of dirty cat calls at that scene.
I think Plan 9 From Outer Space is better than this one, at least they tried in that movie.
I really wanted to like this movie, just can't.
Can't recommend it to anyone, unless your REALLY bored already!
There's a movie titled CREATURE with Klaus Klinski, it's a little better than this one!
The Dark (1979)
The Dark?
I remember seeing this movie at the theater (not drive-in) and at that time I thought it was scary.
Oh how youth is blind! But for the poor editing, cheesy acting, poor special effects, it would be a good movie.
But it does have a certain charm about it, maybe one of the film remake kings will do a remake and update the thing.
It had potential, but I guess the 60's was good to the director, he must have been still on a high.
But the acting of Richard Jaekel, William Devane and the quickie of Keenan Winn deserved better.
I think (I could be wrong) this was one of Dick Clark's first ventures into the world of films, after Bandstand.
I guess you've got to start some where.
