Terrifier 2 (2022)
8/10
"The Earth without Art is just eh"
3 November 2022
Folks with the attention span of a gif won't like this.

Fans of the first Terrifier embraced the gore and brutality but coudln't define the cosmic miasma of demonic insanity displayed beneath the surface.

With easter eggs galore and nods to the masters, there's so much more going on here than what lurks on the surface. Is it brutal? Sure. Is it gory? Why yes. Meat and potatoes (see what I did there?) practical effects and delectable sets rule in a way unrivaled since the 1980s.

A dreamlike murkiness akin to its predecessor NOES permeates the scenery in a foreboding and intimidating veil that blankets this world.

There's a mystery here to unravel that hasn't quite fully revealed itself through its demonic avatars that reign with terror. A fourth wall is seemingly the only barrier between us and the horrors that prevail, bringing us face to face with fear and mortality even in our own homes.

Our cast is seemingly stereotypical until we realize how carefully crafted and delicate our world is by losing our friends and family in a one by one fashion, slowly taken apart with the devilry and delight of wickedness.

Im old enough to remember when Nightmare on Elm Street came out in '84. And I remember the words... "Trash", "Utter Garbage" and "This makes no sense".

A now celebrated and more than successful franchise, heralded as one of the all time greats.

Folks will look back on this one as years pass. Either you're a part of what's happening now and understand this new genesis of art or you don't get it and aren't willing to spend the time to understand it.

This film is made by fans, with fans, for fans and is like nothing else you've witnessed before. I for one absolutely loved every minute of this film that was too long for others, feeling every frame moved this story forward with intention and asking myself where did the time go? How can it possibly be over?

Alot of film goers aren't aware of the subculture here or the depth of subgenres and how interwoven our horror community actually is. We must be careful how we shape our social communities in this new social landscape and shun the "us vs them" mentality.

If we want wins in horror, we have to win together.

Edge lords and gatekeepers aren't gonna get us there.

I love and appreciate everyone that was involved in this project and most certainly hope this trend of community building continues developing and delivering products with this much passion.

Every single member of this cast was absolutely on point and fantastic, delivering just enough comedy to counter balance the tragedy and brutality of the Terrifier.

For Stuart Gordon. Artist. Dreamer. Storyteller. Legends Never Die.
27 May 2021
Seeing this banner at the very first second of the first video is all you need to know. Second of all there is more than one episode available now! Thank you so much Full Moon for giving new life to my favorite Full Moon characters! Crawford Tillinghast played by Dane Oliver is an awesome smashup of Dean's rugged handsomeness and West's comical seriousness as well as Crawford's commitment to excellence. Love this cast and the introduction to new characters. Loved Michael Pare as the Professor and Amanda Jones as Carrie along with Austin Woods as Brandon. Amanda Wyss brings us the nice balance of occult magic melded with science. The concept of the resonator has always fascinated me. They say that people that catch glimpses of otherwordly entities such as ghosts or aliens or demons have a heightened acuity of perception from an active pineal gland and therefore are looking to create a device to unlock the pineal activity in common users to peer beyond the veil of the known universe. Great work from William Butler staying true to the practical effects and puppetry and it was great to see Phillip Tillinghast played by vet Jeffrey Byron. Nice effects and creature work from Greg Lightner and Michael Deaks Resonator design! Looking forward to the continued legacy of Full Moon and Stuart Gordon. This wet my appetite in a way that left me with a sufficient hunger for more!!! Looking forward to more installments and soon! Don't leave us diehard fans hangin now!!!

One Way Trip (2011)
7/10
Stands well above the mediocrity of the modern slasher with beautiful cinemetography and great vertigo shots.

One Way Trip 2011 This was an unexpected pleasant suprise! Beautiful foriegn horror from Austria with gorgeous scenery and constantly changing creepy locations and one twist after another. What a ride! I really enjoyed this awesome horror flick with some great gore and quite a few surprises. The camera work on this was way better than the average horror flick I've seen latley and it made me want more. With an injection of a few really cool 3d scenes and some great vertigo shots toward the end I felt this was above the average quality of an American horror film experience. I'll be looking for more like this from these creators. Highly recommended! Stands well above the average fare you sigh at on prime digging for something remotely resembling a film nowadays. Also lands quite a few notches above "Shrooms" this is not a comedy film. This is a Horror action film!

Jenna McDonald as Felicity was a treat in this 80's throwback that I really enjoyed. I'm an 80's gore hound and I loved it!

At a time where it seems all we see is remakes and throwbacks that bring little new to the table, this was refreshingly genuine. Not that it didn't fulfill the stereotype of a horror slasher, but that it it did so in a manner that was fresh with energy and love for the genre. It genuinely had the the feel for me. Lately I have been revisiting alot of older 80's gems and this nailed the camp feel with some of the more questionable perversions and assholisms of teenagers completing the checklist. Nudity, gore, a cabin in the woods, hillbillies, and a crazy bloody ritual that must be fulfilled or tonight she comes. This entertainment is perfect for those of us that love watch parties and riffing about films. This is destined to be a cult followed classic imo. The film starts off slowly but picks up nicely upon arriving at the cabin. The acting is better than most below average films I see from indie labels on Amazon and the cinematography was nicely executed. I've watched this 4 times now on prime with my sub and I gotta say this one stuck with me. I'm a weirdo and I loved it. Jenna McDonald stole my heart as she was the real memorable standout. Papa and son were fun and the gangs all here. Our bloody girl is gorgeously beautiful and I totally didn't see that ending coming. Great fresh cast, it was nice to see a throwback that did bore me to death. Can't wait to see more creativity from these writers and directors. I'm bored it's 4am thanks for creating something I totally enjoyed! Hope more people get to see this and enjoy it. Not for those who get offended easily or have problems with nudity.

Exceeded my expectations by a mile! Best horror series this year!
17 August 2020
I've been starving for some new horror adventure supspense thriller content and this hit all the right spots for me and then some!!! I'm a fan of Stuart Gordon, Brian Yuzna, Sam Raimi, Mariano Baino, Carpenter, the new RLJE titles Housewife and Color of Space and The Void etc. I'm also a voraciously avid reader of Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Ramsey Campbell, Brian Lumley, Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood, Edgar Rice Burroughs, August Derleth and of course Lovecraft himself, not to mention author Matt Ruff Lovecraft Country. If you're a fan this is it! So many references and so much visceral eye candy!!! Alot of thought went into this! Fans of the literature, the book, and the genre overall get their moments in this! Check, check, and check!!! Exceeded my expectations by a mile! Jordan Peele and JJ Abrams, nice work!!! The cast is wonderful and the locations and cinematography are awesome! You guys have done us fans a solid! Can't wait to see more of this epic tale!
