Gaet-na-eul cha-cha-cha (2021)
Oh so predictable
This series started so good! A strong female protagonist standing up for herself, moving to a new place and starting her own business. And then... then it just all went downhill for me when Hye-jin started dating Du-shik. She was portrayed as strong, level-headed, ambitious, smart, independent and whatnot, BUT she couldn't cook and she couldn't clean but Du-shik HE COULD DO IT ALL - help everyone w/ literally EVERYTHING, he could and LOVED TO CLEAN AND COOK AND YES WAS A FREAKING GENIUS ON THE SIDE.
I couldn't actually watch certain parts and skipped them because of how Hye-jin acted - she was very VERY annoying by the end of the series. I became much more invested and interested in other characters and relationships.

love/hate relationship w/ this one
I was really looking forward to this one. Not only because the love story was supposed to be potrayed more explicitly which is a rare thing to see in k-dramas, but also because Song Kang whom I really liked in his previous projects but thought his potential wasn't fully recognized.
However, I was dissapointed with how the story evolved throughout each of the episodes. There was a lot of repetition, lots of unspoken things between the main characters which only led to VERY BORING dialogues and created more confusion and made the story boring, imho. My fav episodes were the last 2 in which the main characters shone, the actors were great, but still, 2 good episodes don't make a great show.
What I actually liked about this k-drama were the supporting characters/side couples - for me, it's a first drama where two girls got together, although the relationship was portrayed in a very subtle and delicate way, NEVERTHELESS, I loved those two characters. Other side couple (Bit-Na and Kyun-Hyun) also made a great couple - you could feel the chemistry, they were so fun to watch. It was a shame that the producers had to edit some of Hyun's scenes because of the actor's recent scandal, tho (I'd love to see more scenes w/ him and Bit-Na in the show).
Busanhaeng (2016)
what a treat!
You can feel the anxiety and fear since the beginning of the film. All the characters had their meaning, not a single one was abundant which is a rare thing to see in some films, especially in this genre.
The story is fast-paced, there's action after action which creates great dynamic. Gong Yoo did a great job as the protagonist, as well as other actors.

a must-watch not only for k-drama lovers
This series is sooo good! The actors are amazing, the story is complex and gripping enough to keep you interested. I loved that they incorporated different myths and legends, and combined them with the present time. If you are also someone who enjoys a show that makes you cry and smile at the same time, this one is IT! I loved the costumes by the way, whether it be the historical or the contemporary ones. This is the fourth k-drama I watched (I just started, lol) and I loved it the most. With other ones I HAD TO SKIP SOME PARTS because they were just too awkward - this did not happen with this one, though.
Scarface (1983)
iconic
Was it too much? Probably - but it showed what greed, corruption and the want to achieve your American dream can do to you and those around you.
There are scenes in this film that I will never get out of my head, and that tells a lot about the quality it has. Sometimes you can watch a film and forget all about it, this is not the case.
The Panic in Needle Park (1971)
Candy's godmother
First of all, this is probably one of the films I've ever seen that was really hard to watch, and trust me, I've seen many films about addiction, but this one hit differently. Al Pacino shined in his first film role, he was devastatingly wonderful in the role of Bobby, same goes for Kitty Winn (whom I never saw before), she was just as terrific.
The ending was heart-shattering.
The Panic in Needle Park made me thing of all the similar movies I saw, it mostly reminded me of Candy, so, if you liked that, you'll love this!
The Godfather (1972)
they don't make them like this anymore
Everything you want a film to be, this is it. Amazing character(s) development and story that keeps you interested. All the actors seemed to be born to play these characters, especially Brando and Pacino who are at their finest.
The Godfather Part III (1990)
something's not right
I finally watched The Godfather tirlogy, and I have to say that the third film is the "weakest" one. The story doesn't feel as thrilling as the other two, some of the characters remain a mystery and create sort of confusion. But I have to say, Al Pacino is great.
Peaky Blinders (2013)
I flipped a coin
There aren't many shows that I would re-watch 3 times and like them more after each time, this one is one of them for sure. The story, characters, setting, costumes, music, everything is top notch!
The whole cast is amazing, especially actors potraying the Shelby clan - Cillian Murphy is unbelievable in role of Tommy.
Westworld (2016)
it's like a toxic relationship
So... I LOVED the first season, the second NOT SO MUCH, the first half of the third season got me IN LOVE again, although the second part NOT SO MUCH - again. But I have to say, the last episode of 3rd season was worth watching and made up for that not-so-much developed second part.
I's a show full of action, violence, and yes, confusion... the dialogues are sometimes not as good, but I guess the three mentioned things make up for it?
And, the show has a GREAT soundtrack by Ramin Djawadi.
Insecure (2016)
fresh af
I wanted to watch something new and refreshing, and stumbled upon this gem. Never have I seen black women/men portrayed in such honest way. I am not saying this show is something groundbreaking, but it is definitely worth watching!
The Lodge (2019)
it's the idea that counts, right?
The idea behind the story is not bad at all, I liked it, actually. if the writing and character/story development were more refined, that I would consider it a very good film...
The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 (2011)
must watch
"Black is beautiful. Black isn't power. Knowledge is power. You can be black as a crow or white as snow but if you don't know and you ain't got no dough, you can't go and that's for sho'." Lewis H. Michaux - this is powerful, especially at this time
Great doc for anyone who wants to learn something about activism in the US of that period, the interviews are very well done.
Dolor y gloria (2019)
colourful
This is one of those films that make you appreciate cinema even more. I have never seen Banderas like this, a wonderful performance in a wonderful film.
Call Me by Your Name (2017)
elio elio elio elio elio...
I ran into this film by pure accident in (I believe) January '18, it made me feel like summer. I don't usually get SO moved by films but this one is an exception. The story, setting, characters, chemistry! among ALL the actors is just amazing. This is the kind of love story we missed. Just beautiful.
Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (2019)
wonderful
What an amazing film! Reminded me of CMBYN a bit - not comparing it, but the story reminded me of it. The last few scenes were heart-wrenching...
The Last Dance (2020)
maestro
I've never been a huge sports fan (I find most of them boring), but basketball has always been my favorite... this docuseries proves that it is the most exciting (at least for me) sport of all. I loved everything about the series, could not wait for next episodes to drop every Sunday. This is not just for basketball players and fans, this is for everyone who want to push themselves, who want to achieve greatness.
