Lonesome (2022)

A very good film dealing with a Gay relationship.
10 August 2023
It's a very good film which deals with a romantic gay relationship. Both of the lead actors are excellent. The story concerns aspects of love and rejection felt by both of the main characters. The background of both young men is explored very well. The lead actor is very attractive, and the secondary actor is very handsome. The scenery of Sydney and the beaches nearby is quite good. The sex scenes are very good and are done tastefully. I only gave it seven stars instead of ten because of a totally unnecessary violent BDSM scene toward the end. The plot could have been resolved without that being shown.

One of the best Miss Marple mysteries.
7 July 2022
It is well adapted from the book and very well acted.

Joan Hickson is the perfect Miss Marple. So much better than the later BBC versions with Geraldine McEwan who shouldn't have been allowed within a million miles of the role.

This is just a perfect Miss Marple mystery. I like the house used in the filming. It's my idea of a perfect cozy English country house!

A great action film.
20 June 2022
I really like this movie. It's a great action film. And it has a great story line as well. The critics, bless their elitist little hearts, were not always kind to this film. But one glaring example of their narrow scope stands out. The critic for the Chicago paper wrote, "A disaster film that has no injuries or deaths is just a lot of action sequences without any depth". Well guess what, Mr. Smarty critic. There are injuries, one of the storm chasers has a head injury and the aunt has a broken arm from tornadoes. And two of the rival storm chasers are killed toward the end of the film. That tells me that this almighty critic didn't even watch the film all the way through, if he even watched it at all. By the way, his initials were R. S. So much for the critics.

A great Agatha Christie story but not a Miss Marple story.
4 May 2022
The original Agatha Christie novel didn't have Miss Marple in it at all. She was added into the story for the Miss Marple tv series. The addition of her character doesn't work. She appears only briefly in the film. It's a good Agatha Christie mystery. But it doesn't need the addition of Miss Marple.

A ridiculous film.
9 January 2022
A totally ridiculous film that twists historical fact into a stale pretzel and feeds it to ignorant audiences. The harm that it can do to people who haven't studied world history is sad. A film that places Rasputin, Lenin, Hitler, Mata Hari, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Woodrow Wilson, and the Romanovs into one pot of stew is totally off base.

Very quirky and quite amusing.

Wes Anderson has another masterpiece, along with The Grand Budapest Hotel. He is the master of creating films that are very quirky and quite amusing. And the acting in the film is outstanding.

Exciting, adventurous, and colorful. The story is well written and interesting. And the special effects are outstanding. I loved all of the characters. I like the fact that a positive gay character is featured. It's about time.

A great film.

The Broadway musical has been transferred beautifully to the screen. Ben Platt was brilliant. Nobody else could have played the role better than he could. People who think differently are just haters and should be ignored.

Star Trek (2009)

A horrible film.
24 January 2019
The writers took everything that was good about Star Trek and threw it out the window. This isn't Kirk. This isn't Spock. This isn't anything. So tell me. If Vulcan is destroyed, how do we have any of the Star trek canon make any sense at all? I will never see another Star Trek film made by this production company.

A mediocre movie.
24 January 2019
This film takes the Star Wars saga and just throws it out the window. And a worse movie is The Force Awakens. It gets one star. And worse than both of these films are the three prequels. They are the absolute worst Star Wars films ever made.

I love it!
21 January 2019
This is a great film, worthy to be in the canon of the other Indiana Jones films. It's exciting, thrilling, and fun. The script is wonderful and the acting is superb. There are people who don't like this film. I call them the "Indiana Jones Nit Pickers". Let me quote them: "Every little thing isn't perfect." No movie is perfect. And none of the Indiana movies is perfect. "It's unbelievable and unrealistic". It's a fantasy film, folks. It's not supposed to be believable and realistic. "The refrigerator scene is terrible". No it isn't. It's a great scene and a lot of fun. So the Indiana Jones Nit Pickers can whine like little babies all that they want. Because this is a great film and most people like it. I love it. Now after you Nit Pickers have had your baby tantrums, think about this. When was the last time that you produced a successful film? Hmm?

Just bad.
20 January 2019
The Force Awakens was bad. I didn't think that they could make a worse movie than that. But The Last Jedi was worse. It is the worst Star Wars movie ever made. And that includes the horrible prequels.

Mame (1974)
1/10
Terrible.
19 January 2019
The Broadway musical of Mame was great. Angela Lansbury sang, danced, and acted her way to a Tony award. And the show was a big hit and ran for four years . But the movie of Mame? Not so good. In fact, it was terrible. The first problem was with the production itself. The dancing and singing from all of the actors was dreadful. Bea Arthur was ok, but not as good as she had been on Broadway. Everybody else was just substandard. Then there was Lucy. I liked her tv show. She was very funny on that. But not in Mame. First, she can't sing. Hearing her struggle through the songs was painful to hear. Second, she can't dance. She walked her way through all of the dance numbers. Third, she's not a very good actress. Doing comedy on tv and acting in a movie are two very different things. She was great on tv, funny and engaging. But she was not great in Mame, unfunny and non-engaging. And her acting fell flat. In fact, her whole performance fell flat. When I saw the movie after it was released, I was horrified. It was like trying to slog your way through a muddy swamp. I have no desire to ever see it again. It's like having a root canal. No, it's like having a long, painful root canal. The critics hated this movie. And the audiences stayed away in droves, which is not surprising. Some people like this movie. I suspect that it's because they are fans of Lucy, and would like anything that she is in, like a movie called, "Reading the Phone Book in a Dull Grey Monotone". My advice is to give this stink bomb a miss and watch "Singing in the Rain" instead.

Dedicated Star Trek fans don't like the new films.
28 October 2018
Someone who likes this pile of junk movie wrote a review called "Haters Gotta Hate". First of all, that phrase has become a joke. And second, dedicated Star Trek fans don't like sequels that are insulting to the Star Trek tradition of good tv shows and films. This movie is an insult to Star Trek. I don't intend to see any more sequels made by these people. I have a great home library of Star Trek tv shows and the six films of the Original cast and the four films of the Next Generation cast. Those will do me quite nicely, thank you.

A beautiful, touching film with a an artsy sad ending.
25 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the film until the final ten minutes. The ending was too much of a downer. They could have had just as beautiful a film with a happier ending. But I understand why. Happy ending aren't hip. It has to be a sad, angst filled ending for it to be "artsy" enough to satisfy the hip crowd.

Teen Wolf (2011–2017)
8/10
Good show.
3 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Teen Wolf is a good, entertaining show. I like all of the characters, even the villains! Scott, Lydia, and Malia are good, but Stiles is the best character. He is fantastic! Stiles is played by Dylan O'Brien, and he is a great actor, the best actor on the show. The show is about supernatural creatures, mostly werewolves, with a few others thrown in for good measure. Seasons one and two had the characters of Derek and Jackson, and they were great characters. Jackson left after season two, and Derek left after season four. I missed those two characters the most. The first three seasons are the best. Some great plot lines are in these seasons. Stiles' and Scott's friendship, Derek's tragic past, Peter's evil manipulations, the horrible Argents, the alpha pack, and the nogitsune are all very entertaining. The last three seasons aren't as good. The Berserkers, the Dread Doctors, and the Ghost Riders are not very interesting. And the Stydia plot line was ridiculous and unnecessary. The series was great at first, but went downhill toward the last season. But I did like it overall. The characters were interesting and likable. The plots sometimes let me down.
