Jericho (2007)
One of the best games and story lines.
I felt the need to post about this game in response to certain negative posts involving an individual who tries to use enhanced vocabulary and over dramatic text to review this game to sound intelligent and compensate for a lack of knowledge on this game and gaming in general. I am a tough customer and hard to please when it comes to games. This title is one of the most original, entertaining, visually stunning, constant action, and creative I have ever played. The graphics do not disappoint by any means. The music may seem terrible to the listener, as it is not a soundtrack you would blast in your car, however, for the atmosphere of Jericho it is perfect. A very demonic, religious, and dark sound that adds to the mood of the game. The music is a perfect fit on every level and was orchestrated perfectly.
The character development was incredibly done. You have the option of playing as 7 different characters (in the first chapter). Then you can warp between 6, all with different weapons and abilities. This leaves no need for weapon exchange or ability purchase or needing the ability to earn or locate different weapons and abilities throughout the game. Each character uses a different weapon and they each have their own unique abilities. If 6 weapons (usually with two uses each; i.e Abigail Black has a sniper and a rocker launcher in her weapon.)and 12 different abilities ( each character has 2) isn't enough then I don't know what else you could ask for.
The creature design fits in incredibly well the description and understanding of the time era you are in, how they died, and how they were assimilated to be useful to the first born in permanent purgatory. The storyline is easy to understand and flows accurately and keeps you interested from beginning to end. The load times between levels is counteracted by giving you a small typed intro into that level and what the first born and his minions are either currently up to or why they are in the mental and physical condition they are currently in.
Overall, this game is definitely one of the most entertaining games out there. You can tell it was directed by a movie director because the game has that "movie" quality to it. This is a game you have to play to fully understand and enjoy its concepts. Reading reviews or speaking to someone who has played the game will in no way compare to the gaming experience Jericho provides.
This game gets a 10 out of 10 for me on all levels. It is definitely worth the purchase and if you are not sure then at least rent it and I guarantee you will not be disappointing in this amazing gaming experience.
Eragon (2006)
Worth Watching.
I do not know if I will type any spoilers so in the event that I do I put that warning up! I absolutely love this movie. I watch it every time its on! I was reading a lot of the reviews and people are not happy with it. I assume it is because it is based off a book and I never read the book, but people who read the books that become movies need to realize that things are always changed and compacted to get the main point of the story across in a 2 hour time span.
The dialog is equivalent to that of the Star Wars movies which is considerably corny at times, but these movies are always written in such a way it should not be a surprise to audiences. The special effects in the movie were all well done. I also felt that the acting in this film was believable. I felt that all actors did well, and there was a pretty large and well-known cast.
Overall, this cast did a good job and the movie flowed even though there were a few things here and there that could be considered plot holes. For instance, Eragon pretty much goes from a farm boy to a Dragon/Slade slayer in a day and receives practically no practice or teachings. How did he learn all that so fast? Anyway, this movie was well-acted, entertaining, and fun. At least give it a chance before you write it off. You may be surprised.

Stay Alive (2006)
Good for a cheap scare....
I saw this movie last night, and going into it hoped that I would have nightmares for months! I love survival horror games and the concept of this movie really caught me, but since the director of Resident Evil took the best survival horror game of all time and butchered the crap out of it I was a little skeptical. For the most part this movie was decent, but you can tell as the movie goes on that there were some major plot gaps, which I won't go into because I don't want to spoil the movie for people who haven't seen it yet, plus you get the sense that the movie was rushed.
I think its definitely worth a look if you want a cheap scare, but if you think you are going to be terrified, unfortunately you won't be. The cast is decent, but not fantastic. Jon Foster, Samaire Armstrong and Frankie Muniz give strong performances considering the slapped together script they had to work with, and Jimmi Simpson provided some much needed and appreciated comic relief.
The movie is good, but not great. It's just another case of an awesome movie concept wasted. Hopefully, Silent Hill won't let horror buffs down!
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
Better than the first...
Unfortunately, for me I am a Resident Evil nerd, housing all the games and the books! The original RE was good but not on a video game level. What I mean is, if someone never played Resident Evil I wouldn't tell them to see the original to understand why its so popular. It would appear that the creators of the movie were not gunning to make the first RE anything like the game but, just the idea so people could get a feel for the storyline. Regardless of this it was still a good movie. Its sequel Resident Evil: Apocalypse in my opinion totally surpassed the first just because it WAS video game based. To me if your going to remake something esp. a video game it should be true to form and as ACCURATE as possible. For example, people who aren't die hard RE fans wouldn't know that yes, Sienna Guillory did look like Jill Valentine, however, Jill's hair was sandy brown not black. Jill didn't smoke, and she definitely didn't have "Im a tough b*tch and I'm in charge" attitude. Even in the 3rd game where Jill has been through this situation already she was never arrogant. I think they portrayed Jill that way and I didn't care to much for it. I know its Hollywood and things change for movies sake, but come on, you couldn't find a bottle of light brown hair dye? As for Carlos and Nicholai. Nicholai was in his fifties and Carlos was in his early twenties. Oded Fehr was to old to play the part of Carlos and Zack Ward to young to be Nicholai. Again I know that its a movie but this are little things that they could have gotten right.
Even though Alice (Milla) has absolutely no relation to the game what-so-ever her character brought so much to RE as a movie. Giving you a back story that definitely "fits" into the game world as a possibility allowing Alice to head the storyline. I love Milla and think she does an excellent job in both movies. If anything see this movie to watch Milla Kick A**! She definitely fits as a strong, powerful woman, but still feminine. They couldn't have casted anyone better for the part.
The biggest thing about this movie that would have MADE it for gamers was the "Nemesis" Any one who knows RE games immediately recognized this terror! They depicted the Nemesis to a T! It was incredible to learn it was an actual person in a costume! Everything from head to toe was absolutely perfect! They did an amazing job on Nemesis! Perfect! Overall, this one definitely went above and beyond the original. Mabe I just feel that way because this was the type of RE remake I was waiting for. Although I have to be honest. I would love to see them remake the 1st game! As accurate to the game as possible. Then, I would wowed! Bottom Line: See it, you won't be disappointed!
