hard to watch

Hard to watch. Suffered through to the end somehow, and sober.

Ironic that the movie was about stoners, as being high would've mafe it.

sucked out loud

This movie sucked. it was written by, and written for people who know nothing about the military. when your spending the kind of money that it takes to make a movie, why wouldn't you spend a few bucks for a military advise?

how things change

He makes points about how media controls what people see and believe, and how free speach is important even if you disagree with speaker. how things change. now the media is just a mouthpiece for the liberal agenda, and the left suppresses free speach in media, internet and college campuses.

who is giving the high ratings?
7 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Another military movie that can only be enjoyed by someone who was never in the military. Luckily the script was also written by someone who was in the military.

the wardrobe of the actors appeared to be brand new. Wouldn't be surprised if fold creases were visible. cast did not look to be in good physical condition. Kind of a biggie if you're making a military film.

news flash, personnel cannot come and go outside the wire at will. there is much greater control. and individual soldiers cant wear variations of the uniform, eliminating vital pieces of his ta-50 (kit). and fyi, the soldies wear about 30lbs before ruck, not 120lbs as stated in the film. an nco would never quiz a trooper about a piece of debris that looks out of place, while they were standing next to the suspicious debris! Ridiculous. there was a field grade officer addressing a squad. Wouldn't happen. then troopers asking him questions like he is their squad leader. Ridiculous. at one point a term was dropped causing me to question if the writers forgot they were making a movie about the army, not marine corps (ill let you all see if you catch it by yourself ). really not sure who is giving this the high marks. not at all impressed. it can only be enjoyed by a career civilian.

Disappointing. Typical seth rogen humor, written on sophistication level of a 7th grader. could have been fun date nigh or young adult movie, but excessive and unnecessary language and sexual references ruined it.

hire a technical adviser
27 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Before i start bashing this, ill say its a good movie for people who don't know anything about the military. if you knowledge of the army is limited to movies and tv, you will probably really enjoy this. if you are spending a million bucks to make a movie, spend a few hundred to hire a guy to point out thing that separate movies from the real military. it would add some realism. their uniforms (not authenic reproduction) look brand new, and not faded from wear and the tropical sun. two enemy combatants we see often were dressed in typical black pajamas of the communist guerillas, but were equipped like nva. feel it would have looked more authenic if they were wearing the trademark "rice eater" head gear as it was called. a female guerilla wears a shemagh common of the muslim world. looked out of place. i was impressed that the actors had trigger finger discipline (kept their finger out of the trigger guard), so they did get some advice. first thing i picked up was a senior nco calling the men together stating "form up", and not "fall in". most may not see the issue, but your making a war movie here, why not make it real? these guys are operating out of a remote looking base, yet there is no security or fighting positions. the jungle foliage comes right up to perimeter, so there is no field of fire. when they come under attack, guys stand in open without benefit of cover, and are eliminated (go figure). when a detail is working a tunnel and two members come under fire, they just stand up and make a nice big target of themselves. after a couple survivors make it back to their overrun base, just as the airstrike (that the Lt called in on his own pisition) comes in. Napalm is raining down, but they choose to stand around in the open, looking at it in awe. Luckily it destroys everything around them, leaving them untouched. lastly their communist prisoner, how the heck they get him up in that tree? he was bound, what the heck. if your military experience comes from watching GI joe cartoons, you will enjoy this picture. plenty of action and suspense.

cheered for the killer.
23 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was terrible, cannot understand the positive reviews.

the victims had multiple opportunities to leave town for help, but for reasons that defy logic, stayed. since they wanted to get killed, i wanted to see them get killed. the world has way too many idiots. i felt bad at first, but actually cheered for the killer.

the villain could have been scary, but not enough character development.

the acting was as bad as the script. screamed "B" movie. i dont think even bruce Campbell could have saved it.

the only reason i didn't give a lower rating, is to save the folks who enjoy classic bad movies, and search for flicks with a 1-2 star rating.

Overrated
21 March 2020
I wanted to see it, as i heard everyone talk about it. Found it to be overrated, wish i could have rated it a 4.5 perhaps. Made like an old 80s slasher flick, but unfortunately the effects and props were also from the 80s. Props looked fake. Many people find clowns creepy, so great start. Unfortunately it doesn't deliver. Also the characters show the audience what not to do if being chased by a psychopath. Stupidity kills.

Ever cheer for the monster?
20 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Three gals vs a monster, even though they had opportunities to get away. The youngest gal runs off like a 2 year old, if left unsupervised for 30 secs. If i wrote this script, the movie would have been about 10 mins long. As soon as the youngest girl ran off the first time for no good reason, they should have left her there. "The end". I fail to believe this was new behavior for her. At some point you have to cut your losses and save who you can.

Toward the end, after the girls find the youngest who ran off again, was an epic stupid scene. One girl sacrifices her self by distracting the monster to save the others. She gets said monster to chase her, ending up in a room with a strong locking door. After monster corners her in the room, she fakes him out, runs back to the door and secures it so he couldn't get out. Why the heck didn't she take 1 additional step, and secure door from outside? Apparently she wanted to be a martyr. Her sacrifice was for nothing, because the run away sister found in necessary to go to the room and unlock the door. Wanted a look at her sisters corpse, and free the monster. The survivors managed to kill the monster because apparently one has the ability to eclipse the sun. If you were the monster and the sun was your kryptonite, wouldn't you call it quits at sun up? Was really hoping the monster would massacre the trio, to prevent them from reproducing and spreading the stupit gene to another generation. I know its a tv movie and not some high budget production, but this is bad. Monster was cool concept, but budget kept from making him great (also script).

fun but ridiculous
15 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not worthy of the hype, but still fun to watch. the props and special effects were just bad. even bad for an 80s slasher flick. Acting was ok. the story not a bad start, but characters did some ridiculous stuff. characters had several oopportunities to kill the monster but instead chose to just injury him and then flee. one character gas a firearm, great, right? wrong. she allows 2 characters to be butchered right in front of her, and doesn't shoot till they are dead and she decides to run. she managed to score a center mass hit which would lead you to believe that she has some training under her belt and is proficient. wrong. in a later scene she gets all "ghetto" in her handling. plus i dont think she had more than 4-5 rounds for some reason. still a fun watch, similar to 80s slasher style. almost forgot, whens the last time you seen a girl carry a zippo lighter? never. this is a dude thing. Would've been easy fix in the script. the final scene, although impossible, was stolen directly from an early Friday the 13th. youll see.

Silly story
3 March 2020
For a movie that had decent acting and special effects, they couldn't think up a better story? Just couldn't get over the title and story. Just couldn't image the 16th president slaying vampires in his free time. Why not Donald Trump vampire slayer? Or better yet, hillary clinton, "vampire", or hillary clinton, "lucifers sister"? That would be way more believable, and frightening.

Not bad
3 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not bad. Wasn't expecting much, judging by the info on the dvd box. I knew this wasn't a big money production. It received a decent rating on imdb, so i gave it a try. Unlike similar films from 80s and 90s, this one did NOT involve a crazy story. Not about a prehistoric beast, or one mutated by nuclear waste. Realistic story, hurricane in environment where gators live. Script was realistic, and not people in crazy situation doing predictable things. Decent acting, not "B" movie actors in their first paying role. Again i wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. If you get a chance, take a watch.

Hire tech adviser
29 February 2020
Im going to concente on 1 scene, as there are plenty of others reviews explaining the movies other flaws.

In final scene, cage is wearing some kind of uniform. His character was a Vietnam era marine, but he is wearing 2 army marksmanship badges on his left breast pocket. Above the pocket he has 2 ribbons, an army good conduct, and national defense service. Above the ribbons he has a marine officers dress cover device (ega). The icing on the cake is the rank insignia on the sleeves. Ha has a spec4 (e-4) shield, with a privates chevron above it. Did they invent a new grade? Is this like sergeant major? Private specialist? Oh, and the coat wasn't that of a soldier or a marine. I understand this wasn't the highest budget flick, but hire an adviser so it doesn't look like wardrobe dept is 2 third graders in an army navy store. Heavens, just call your local recruiter, or use the internet. Unbelievable.

Bruce willis hurting for cash?
26 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Victim who knows too much being hunted by crooked cops. Crooked cops who cant shoot, have zero tactical knowledge, and do bunch of dumb stuff. The dumb starts off early when our incompetent duo fire a doz rounds at our victim, who is no longer visible. Maybe they had a grudge against that masonry wall, not sure. Crazy idea, walk down alley and cap your unarmed victim who is hiding behind cover. Having hit her once earlier, they are after the slug inside her, as it can be traced back to the crooked cop who fired it, because we all know when you're on a hit you carry your city issued piece. Bruce shows up and fires several times at the fleeing suspects. Totally illegal in America, but apparently not illegal in "B" movies.

Later our victim is in hospital, in a secret room with police guard. Unfortunately not so secret that our killers find out and kill the incompetent guard. Our victim is crafty enough to escape. She steps in a big puddle of blood that she cant see for some reason. Shes wearing a sock or something on her foot but luckily doesnt make bloody footprints to her next hiding place. While barricaded inside she has idea to electrocute bad guys on other side with an AED. Fortunately for her, doors have a shockable cardiac rhythm, because it worked (AEDs only deliver a shock after recognizing V-fib, or VT without a pulse. Trust me, im a medic). Later we have another scene with a defib but i dont have time to get into difference between joules and volts. Our victim encounters another cop, but he is dramatically shot. For some reason our victim is not, even though shes 2 feet away. Again our villains dont even enter room, just shoot a but shoot bunch of rounds at unarmed victim. They finally get her and zip tie to bed. She manages to free herself buy cutting restraint with bad guys knife. Thats great for zip tie #2, but how was she able to get the knife as a sec earlier both hands restrained? Anyway instead of attacking our villain with the knife she chooses to electrocute him which wouldn't have worked in reality (see explanation above). This movie was weak. Real disappointed with bruce who i consider a good actor. I guess it could have been worse, as i actually watched it all the way to end. Decent acting, real bad script, and obviously no tech advisor for law enforcement or medical subjects.

Not too too bad
16 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First thing first. During opening scenes when Roger was when in military uniform, it was impossible for me not to notice the following.

Unit citations on right breast were out of order. Name tag was above citations, not on pocket flap. On his left pocket, his wings and his marksmanship badge should be in reverse order. He wears an army good conduct ribbon, but he also wears commissioned officer rank. The good conduct metal is only awarded to enlisted ranks. Perhaps he was enlisted prior to being commissioned, but it also had device attached indicating it was awarded multiple times, yet he wears no nco development ribbon. Uncommon for a man that has been in long enough to receive multi good conduct metals. Also not wearing an army service ribbon. Impossible if he is wearing a good conduct. He needs a shave. Definitely unsatisfactory if in uniform. Sorry folks, i was in far too long not to pick that up, as im sure other vets did. In these times with the internet, would be simple to get that stuff right. Disappointed. Movie dragged a bit during exorcism scenes, and an abrupt ending that can only be fixed by watching a sequel. Over all not too too bad but was hoping for so much better.

Terrible
16 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The sets and sound quality were great, and thats where it ends. I can see how they saved the big money associated with special effects, by not having any. The dolls movements were not believable, and amounted to disappearing and reappearing, or turning whole body instead of just the head. Sometimes good acting can save a badly written low budget movie. Unfortunately the acting was also terrible. The last two causalities didn't have to die, but instead of exiting, one decided to look for something and the other was stupid enough to go help her. I viewed this turd on Youtube. Had i paid to rent it, id be pissed.

Who was their target audience?
13 February 2020
In a nutshell, story written for 4-7th graders, but dialog makes most adults uncomfortable. It was written as a mindless comedy, very similar to movies rated for grade schoolers and a general administration rating. The language was over the top offensive. My drill sergeant didn't curse that much. Unrealistic dialog depiction for people of any age. Seemed like a grade schooler wrote the script. Total cringe. Found it way to simple to hold attention of adults, the target audience with the R rating. The kids are portraying 6th graders, but have knowledge of life and sex of third graders. No one at that age is that uninformed, especially today with the internet. Unfortunately it was not like dairy of a wimpy kid, a movie both kids and adults could enjoy. total fail.

Terrible
28 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Did not do the original justice. Not sure where to start. Some decent acting, but good actors cant save a movie with a bad script. When spending loads of cash to make a movie, why would you use prosthetics that look like a prop at your local haunted house? Or not hire someone to serve as technical advisor for the firearms you used. Just note, the AR15 platform rifle used in the film, described as "legal" somehow fires in automatic mode. That only happens in liberal minds. Also if the weapon is out of ammunition, and for some reason the bolt is closed, the firing pin will fall once, producing a metallic "click". It will not produce any more sounds if trigger is pulled, unless first charged. Also very near end, when confronted by 3 hill jacks, our victim points an already empty rifle and attempts to fire it. One hillbilly states that its on safe (even though the safety was never engaged, and cannot be engaged in condition three, after trigger pulled) so our victim rotates to fire mode to shoot all three (even though the weapon was out of ammo and never reloaded). Also several times the kids are threatened by a rabid looking dog multiple times. You have a rifle, shoot it! Had no problem shooting the hermit on two separate occasions, but won't wack the rabid dog threatening you? Really? There is a scene where victim attempts to take his suffering friend out if her misery. He accomplished this buy causing her more misery than she was in. Shovel edge to the pie hole, really. Never thought about decapitating her with it, or just use flat side to bash her over the head? Then he covers her in fuel and sets her on fire, because we all know that burning to death is pain free for 4 mins. Also wanted to talk about the hillbilly law enforcement. At the beginning we have our lady cop show up to a crime scene, and is not at all concerned about the vehicle with bullet holes covered in blood. Guess she didnt learn about homicide or preserving evidence in the police academy. At the end she receives a radio message that if she sees suspect, to shoot on sight. Great, maybe in Venezuela. Law enforcement cannot even shoot a fleeing felon, let alone the surrendering suspect. Lastly in opening scene, one of out kids is bitten by an inbreed hill child, and instead if seeking medical attention, rinses wound out with a hose, because thats pretty much the same thing. Ridiculous. Theres plenty more, but thats all i have time for. Believe it or not I've seen worse, but please dont waste your time.

If i had paid to see this, id be pissed. It's not often i don't make it all the way through a picture, because i want to see the whole thing and give an honest review. Couldn't make it through half. Was board and mind was wondering about five mins in. The 5x too long combat scene reminded me of a ridiculous 70's bruce lee choreographed fight scene, where no one tires and it lasts forever. Question: when did horses get to north America? Answer: Apparently before the Europeans according to this movie.

Had potential, didn't deliver
25 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Like most remakes, failed to hit the mark. Love horror movies so i gave it a chance. Been 30 years since original. The first one was a classic, a must watch 80's horror movie. The new version had some positives. The high tech/smart devices were a nice update. It was a good idea to make the doll linked to other stuff, and able to learn. Also in the new version, the story of how the doll turns bad is more practical or believable. Unfortunately the rest of the movie doesn't deliver. A couple scenes stopped being scary and actually became silly. In a world where more horror movies are bad rather than good, ill say it was still watchable. Could have been worse, but I dont see myself recommending it.

Disappointing
11 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After the first scene, although not realistic, i thought it would be fun. Really dragged on, and climaxed with a laughably unrealistic finale. Arnold gets off a crew serve weapon to toss stallone a handgun that he actually catches. Amazing because he is hanging on a rope ladder, connected to a helicopter. Then as he is hanging on, he is able to score hits in vicinity if his target. In this case a bunch of steel drums filled with some kind of flamible liquid, that are stored on the deck for no good reason. And why is the warden leading the charge? Ridiculous.
