Mayonaka otome sensô (2022)
Skipping through memory lane
For a movie about other movies this won't attain much cult status and will probably be forgotten a week or so, I'll be perfectly honest, if you're not a South American or a European girl who's misguided enough to watch emo movies like these and expect people to act this quirky irl, then you won't like Japanese movies one bit. The only Japanese movie I can recommend is ikigami, it's fun and heartbreaking, and if you're a fan boy or girl, death note and the ultimate gambler, but the rest? You're better off watching Stephen chow movies.
Do you know why no one likes French movies? The same reason as Japanese movies, because instead of coming up something original they resort to; self conscious narrative which we have to sidetrack with the main story, 4th wall tropes, nostalgia, an abundance of childish "emotional" segments which consist of lying supine on the bed together talking how life is meaningless, teens acting cool and indifferent... Yada Yada Yada... Its boring, it's half baked, it's unoriginal, whatever things stick nowadays they flung to the wall. Like French movies it takes too long like a heart breaker joke that no one would care to listen let alone think.
I skipped after 20 minutes and everything I expected just came true. Its so bland I guessed what would happen each segment and it did. For a movie about other movies ending like fight club, be half the man you are "inspired" from instead of giving examples of it first.
Assassin's Creed (2016)
Trying to do more with less
Try squishing a 400 year Creed in between a 1000 year conflict, the historical aspect, the morality, reasons and what not, were really good, the only problem is they had to do more with less which in a 1 and a half hour movie was really hard despite being a video game movie which is expected to flop, they couldve kept the real life action more interesting but they poured it all into the inquisition, Alot of good characters that had the potential to be interesting and likeable, but a movie that short there was only so much they can do, it wasnt as bad as everyone said it was. Honestly.
Drive (2011)
Watch the first 10 minutes then write the script yourself
The movies opening was AWESOME like if directors were wondering where to start they nailed it! The music, the fast chasing, and the main characters getaway was clean, cool, slick, and I thought "man this is going to be an awesome movie!" then this happened...
The movie plunges into a daytime hybernation where everyone's either slurring, yelling, or whispering what the scripts want them to, its really a disappointment because I thought the opening sequence would define the movie, so my advice is watch the chase scene, and just imagine what the movie could've been
Kokuhaku (2010)
An artsy, overreacting, intellectual without giving any clues, bland, tasteless
I had hopes for this movie but, the camera shots, cgi, plot, acting, was very hard to understand, catch up on, the story is all over the place, testing the viewers with intellectual aspects but give no clues leading up instead trying hard to surprise the viewers with awe, trying very hard to be smart but turned out to be bland, characters constantly betraying each other for the sense of intelligence, I mean come on pirates of the Caribbean at worlds end did the same but Atleast it had a purpose and was fun to watch relatable, this is just an anime series meant for edgy teens stretched for 2 hours,
Unpopular opinion : the better Japanese movies have mediocre ratings, I fell for this movie just because it was genre defining, I won't make the same mistake twice
L: Change the World (2008)
It's like a fanfiction but it's japanese
For me I already leveled my understanding of traditional Japanese movie production not in a offensive way the movie is dwelled toward a character (L) who is a lonely figure with his own signature style who without any explanation fights for justice but he's morally just, after the events of the last movie L is finally lonely as he waits he death but a series of events make him reconcile with 2 kids who he slowly opens to
The plot is meh could've been better but as you expected all the content comes from L and his followers as its a follow up to a already mysterious character who shows what kind of person he is but still remains a mystery except for his explanation of morality of justice
That was the whole point of the movie
17 Again (2009)
It's just like the lego movie except its not lego
The movie as everyone stated is true I hate kpop boy bands and similar to USA musicals now zac effron did a really good job on this movie not gonna lie but the fruit is this was unexpected it was surprising it had enough not too much not too little eccentric plot good casts funny refreshing and creative
American Beauty (1999)
A rejuvenation of the soul
This movie is outright and goddamn refreshing
Upon countless of overrated, forcing controversial trends to everyone's throats this movie is a very well done movie its just stripped to its purest form for everyone to understand its so singular yet everyone can have it
This. Is. A. Must. Watch.
The Dark Knight (2008)
One word : joker
The only serious comic movies unfortunately are 2/3 decades away (blade, spawn, etc) and nowadays most cinema movies consist of extremely overhyped superhero movies
But this one
You cannot catagorise this this movie is perfect the trilogy is perfect it's respectable
Enjoyable gripping fun this is a movie that meets realism with a genre that has no realism and NAILS it
You haven't lived if you haven't seen this movie
Green Zone (2010)
Perspectives
For a change of American patriotism and self loathing about the great liberators I can proclaim this is historically very accurate
I like the Blackwater pmc realism about how brutal killers they are and how people that ask questions are silenced this movie was shunned for the obvious reason of political beliefs but honestly it was solid
Donnie Darko (2001)
In retrospect I felt cockblocked
I personally liked the movies half it was symphagic enough the emotions were genuine
But I think whenever someone brings up time travel and the ability to change your mistakes feels depressive or a sacrifice I think it was trite
They just tediously gave up half way just as I wa slinking the movie they gave up the mysterious atmosphere by revealing too much to the audience and a final lazy story to make it up TIME TRAVEL I would honestly like it more I liked the tone right untill they bought up time traveling which is not suitible with a movie that had great opportunity's but alas time travel is obviously magnum opus to making a good relief
The Guest (2014)
Cool movie
A memorable movie, mysterious main character, awesome soundtrack, generally interesting
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)
A rare Disney movie that's actually fun
Apart from the few Disney clichés
I have to say this movie is one of the best movies I've seen in a looong time
I suggest you watch it ASAP it's like going back to my childhood again
Saw Rebirth (2005)
Cool movie short
Why I gave it a 9 is probably because this story intervines and messes with original story
SPOILER : how he left Jill and never talks to her again but in the movies they're much closer
How in this he isn't making a legacy
But overall cool movie
Jarhead (2005)
Like green zone but anguished
This movie is so true both historically and mentally some of the soldiers (Alan troy) tells some truth about the war in a breakdown
While the marines who share their story's are almost all of them forlorn so they have nothing but the marine Corp except the staff Sargent who is sadistic and enjoys everything
Its unsolicited from most war movies where it shows little about the enemy side but convinces some of the troopers asking them this question "why are we here" a solid movie I recommend
