It is not often that one can find good television during prime time that can be watched by everyone in the family. Even shows aired on the widely received channels of NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, and CW often push the risky behaviors of drugs, alcohol, violence, cussing, and sex by testing the limits on how much can be shown or said. Some of the highest rated non-reality television shows on the tube today are often off limits in households with younger children. TGIF was once defined as a family hour (or two) enjoying an episode of Full House, Family Matters, Star Search, etc
The television that is available today in these same time slots no longer inspire family viewing. Even some of the less risky shows one can find on many of these networks still portray enough blood, guts, violence and sex to make them inappropriate for younger viewers. So when a show like The Finder (starring Geoff Stults, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Maddie Hasson) comes along it may take a while for it to be recognized for what it is

Looking back there was not a single scene that I felt the need to hide from the four eyes attached to my elementary aged children. Even television shows that claim to be more acceptable for family viewing, like The Finder's big brother Bones, have an abundant amount of viewing that is more appropriately done with the eyes of my little one's safely tucked behind their hands. While I readily profess my guilt over knowing that those very taboos are what attract me to and keep me rooted in the television shows I choose to watch, The Finder proves that a show only needs wit, humor, a good cast and a new angle to draw an audience.
I often have to catch up on all the weekly shows I watch through my provider's online service due to my incredibly busy schedule. I usually watch the shows in an order based on my level of interest, saving the best for last of course! I saw the first episode of The Finder just like every other Bones fan and like most other viewers I was less interested in Walter and more irritated with the loss of Booth and Bones for even one night. It was not until I "accidently" caught the second episode of the show that I realized that humor could still be used in dramatic television. I had prejudged this show based on its interruption of my number one television pastime. Once I yielded to his need to find things Walter Sherman became a rival to Seely Booth himself.
I have seen so many shows come and go with little reasoning behind why they were canceled. I've been upset, let down, even sad, but never have I felt all of that and cheated at the same time. I understand there has to be a standard of success to measure a show against, but with a show like American Idol there has to be enough wiggle room to give The Finder a second season!
