Poliziottesco Giallo hybrid worth a viewing.

What Have They Done To Your Daughters? is a 1974 Italian film that is part giallo, part poliziottesco. A new one on me until tonight.

In the mid 1970s the poliziottesco genre of films actually overtook the giallo in popularity. What Have They Done To Your Daughters? is a good example of the genre with hints of more well known (by me anyway) giallo scenes of blood and mystery.

Italy seems a complex country politically and culturally. What with elements like the mafia. This film taps into some of these themes as a complex child prostitution ring is uncovered by the police and a District Attorney in the course of their investigations.

The cast are unknown to a UK viewer but there are some good performances that convey the story.

It appears the film is shot primarily around Rome, another beautiful Italian city.

Director Massimo Dallamano was also involved in writing the screenplay and had extensive cinematography experience from films like A Fistful Of Dollars (1964).

As I mentioned about giallo in a previous review this is a good introduction to the poliziottesco genre. The filmography of Dallamano might be worth investigating.
