nothing like the books

Warning: Spoilers
Unlike many reviewers I have read the books and loved them. When i heard that a series was being made I couldn't wait to watch it.

How disappointing that from the first episode the story didn't follow the books at all. Its was as if the writers hadn't even read them. While the character names are the same the interactions between the characters is nothing like the books at all.

Rand is supposed to be an orphan who finds this out in the first few chapters and has to come to grips with this while having to leave everything he has known behind.

Perrin is a blacksmith apprentice who is hesitant to use his strength for fear of hurting a friend. But dreams of singing an axe in battle. He is not married and doesn't kill his wife with an axe. Over the course of the books he discovers the reality of his dreams.

Mat is a bit of a scoundrel but not a thief and would do anything for his friends and family. He doesn't come from an abusive family in fact his father is a smart talented person who drops everything to go after his son to protect him from the world outside there village.

Egwene is the tavern keepers daughter who wants to be more and follows decides to chase her dreams rather than stay in her safe village.

Nynaeve doesn't get dragged off by trollocks again she is a strong character who chases after the people who are taken from her village to try and protect them from those who would use them for there own ends.

Morraine is searching for someone in secret and doesn't blurt her identity to the first person she sees.

Why couldn't the writers follow the story instead of destroying a work of art. All the female characters in the book are strong woman and it would have been easy to write from there perspective while keeping the story intact.
