John Fitzgerald Kennedy assassination case is not far from this topic that could have been far better than this. Rotten politicians, obscure intelligence organizations protecting private interests, manipulations of all kinds all the ingredients of the political thriller, but American stuff, with the unavoidable and foreseeable ending. So shame.
