Wow. I'm in awe. I just saw this film, bursting out crying a few times. That performance by Brendan Fraser was definitely oscar worthy. A good movie, but be prepared.
The movie is very simple, but the acting especially by the titular character and the nurse, and ex wife was amazing. Sadie Sink was decent, she was good in the final scene, but a bit flat for other parts of the movie. Still okay performance, others where briliant all the way through. But the film would only have worked as well as it did with that kind of performance by Brendan Fraser. The movie is worth watching for that alone. The story is simple, but touching. A very optimistic soul, destroyed by sadness, giving into addiction and dying from it. It's difficult subject, nomather what addiction is at play. Especially seeing the darkness it entails.
