As funny as a vacation in a European hostel
15 June 2023
The first Trinity film had its appeal, mostly thanks to Hill's laconic charms and Spencer's grouchiness being used to maximum effect.

Problem here is that those same character traits aren't given anything interesting to do.

They repeat the same joke (holding up four bandits) in the opening sequence even though it wasn't funny the first time. They return home to their obnoxious parents, who aren't funny and eat like p!gs. Then I think they become bandits themselves except they're not very good at it, or they feel sorry for their victims. What difference does it make because it's not funny. They spend time in town getting in fights. And there's a set piece in a restaurant where they eat like p!gs again. Also not funny.

The whole thing tested my nerves but I was doing my taxes online at the time so I kept watching it in the background. If I'd have rented this back in the Brainbuster days I would have hit Eject and gone to bed.
