(2006) Wolfhound/ Volkodav iz roda Serykh Psov
(In Russian with English subtitles)
FANTASY
Heavily influenced by "The Lord of the Ring" films using a folklore kind of plot adapted from the novel by Mariya Semyonova written and directed by Nikolay Lebedev about a Russian mythical hero, Volkodav (Aleksandr Bukharov) seeking for a little retribution, working for a princess, Knesinka Elen (Oksana Akinshina) retrieving an amulet at the same time save some of the captured. The major problem is not the cheesy special effects or the acting, but the many inconsistencies among it's story line for it almost seems that they're more good people killed than the bad ones, who're the few in some of the most avoidable situations. Maybe that was the way how it was written. Viewers also have to overlook it's running time of 136 minutes. Ambitious but very poor.
