Very interesting!

At a four day seminar in London (sponsored by a Christian meditation group), the Dalai Lama compares Buddhism and Christianity very effectively and clearly. With a sense of humor, the Dalai Lama reads and reflects on various portions of the Gospels, comparing Jesus' life and teachings with the teachings of Buddhism, especially Mahayana (or Northern) Buddhism. He also mentions where Buddhist teachings vary or diverge from other branches within Buddhism. He points out both commonalities and irreconcilable differences between Buddhism and Christianity and also offers conjecture as to why he thinks there are many religious traditions, etc.. This series of reflections (teachings) combined with panel questions and responses gives a great overview of a very complicated subject. I recommend this as a healthy, primary source for learning about such things, as several knowledgeable Buddhist and Christian theologians and leaders comment on differences and likenesses, as well as what both can learn from one-another.
