How times have changed
spodso25 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm old enough to remember Dragnet ending the program with to paraphrase a quote something like the names have changed but the program was real and accurate and factual.

Fast forward to the last 20-30 years on TV. Something like this has now connection with anything that happened anywhere in the world! This program was obviously a University of Delaware case where the "parents" didn't have sense enough or couldn't afford for a Doctor to "legally kill" the unborn child.

I watch a lot of TV bit I don't remember seeing any TV programs "recreating" the murder of Anne Marie Fahey by Tom Capon; another Delaware murder.

The abandoned baby
jotix1006 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Kristin Richardson, a rebellious teenager, is brought over the Cold Case office by an officer in charge of her, because a man, claiming he is her father wants to see her. Kristin, who was abandoned right after being born, suddenly presents a challenge for the detectives. At the same time, Josie Sutton, a new woman detective is assigned to the Cold Case unit. While John Stillman welcomes her because his ties to her father, Nick Vera has another view, which he doesn't reveal.

As the investigation begins, we are taken to 1988 to the night of the prom where Quinn Ellis is about to give birth. She is assisted by the boy that impregnated her, Jimmy Tate, one of the best athletes in the school. As the baby appears, Jimmy disappears mysteriously, only to be found dead in what appears to be a hit an run accident. Quinn, a helpless girl, abandons the little baby to her fate.

In flashbacks we get to know the story. Jimmy and Quinn took quite a chance in the week-end they spent together. Thus, Quinn's pregnancy. When Jimmy goes to the school nurse, Laura Graham, for help, instead of seeing a way out, he is abased by this woman who is a pro-life advocate. When Jimmy discovers Laura and one of the teachers, Jared Wyatt, in a compromising position, he gets totally confused. Even the good intentioned coach, who will lend him the money needed for an abortion, can't change Jimmy's mind in wanting to let Quinn have the baby, something that eventually leads to his death.

Mark Pellington, one of the great minds behind this program, directed this episode. Meredith Stiehm, another excellent writer, was responsible for the screenplay. Both Mr. Pellington and Ms. Stiehm's efforts paid big time in this installment, the start of the third season. All the principals, plus Sarah Brown, who will be seen in other chapters, do their usual fine jobs under Mr. Pellington's guidance. Good guest appearances abound in this show, specially Chuck Hittinger, Robert Curtis Brown, and Cheryl White among the supporting cast.
