The Desperation to Not Hear a Game Score
JordanThomasHall4 November 2016
Dave (Joby Baker), Linda (Julie Parrish), Sandy (Goldie Hawn), and Larry (Ronnie Schell) are preparing to go to a big football game. Larry arrives with news he only could manage one ticket and goes to the game. Since the game is blacked-out at home the other three decide to travel 150 miles to Palm Springs where the television reception is great at the Flying Goose Lodge. The girls prefer to take in the recreation though. As the game starts the television signal goes out due to Kennelly–Heaviside layer (a layer of ionized gas that can disrupt signal). They leave back for home in time to catch a replay of the game, but are pulled over for speeding. Dave is desperate not to hear any news of the game until he can watch the replay. Familiar character actor Robert Donner plays a justice of the peace. You can catch a couple glimpses of Goldie Hawn in a bikini, a worthwhile endeavor for my fellow man ;) This is an engaging episode with some similarities to "The Dick Van Dyke Show's" "Bad Reception in Albany", but not nearly as funny as its predecessor.
