Plenty of good moments
petertheteslafanman19 October 2021
I enjoyed the Stewie and Doug story! It was a bit unusual from the Stewie/Brian (who really didn't have much of a presence this episode) partnership, but it was refreshing and, at times, pleasantly absurd. The Peter-and-the-80s subplot had a few funny moments, but I can't relate to anything 80s so I'm sure I missed some references.

80's Guy

Some good references, but I don't like how political this show has become. It used to mock everyone, but now using "problematic" in an unironic way? Come on.

Hilarious

The jokes were funny plus the poking fun at everyone's nostalgia craze calling it living in the past but also acknowledging it as very enjoyable was good. Stewie's plot was stupid but the dialogue with him and baby Jerry was definitely funny. Below average size 1st grader had me dead.

Good

The part of the story about Stewie wasn't that good but Peter's story was funny and enjoyable. I think that Stewie stories is really better with Brian included.

The narrative "old must give way to new" has gone too far.
herculeanes20 October 2021
Especially when it comes to nostalgic shows. Peter has always been a TV nerd, even at a time when TV has become less important and interesting.

But even apart from the original meaning and message of the show, the episode tries to reproach its viewer for nostalgia. The problem is that the "new product" doesn't offer anything "new." Disney can't create, only parasitize ... So they bought Star Wars and bought Family Guy.

Previously, Disney was able to adapt other people's ideas, but nothing more. Therefore, their message "Let the old give way to the new" sounds ironic. Disney can't stay on its feet without nostalgia. And Disney has nothing to offer fans of its acquired franchises and shows.

And I'm not a big fan of the 80s, but what do 2010 and 2020 have to offer? Censorship, male bashing, or exploitation of nostalgia? Maybe illogical or harmful decisions for the sake of shock value or virtue signals?

This episode was actually hilarious definitely the best in the season so far. Both plots were funny but peters 80s plot was way better and had a surprisingly good intelligent ending which i didnt expect from a show like family guy, stewies plot was good too.

Get the divorce Already it's been 20 years living like a DOG !
fnvry20 October 2021
In this era we don't have show which says 'luis can go F him/herself' ! ... S20E04 : Just another "borderline dangerous" woke episode lecturing about the danger of the sexist past culture ! And guess what character is only the sense of the reasons & "normal" ... the episode literally shows what the producers think of the 'family guy' character : he was Not just mentally ill or abnormal ... , but he has been an 'INDOOR DOG' all these years ! ... Is this a "borderline dangerous" nostalgia we wish to leave for the future from what have Ever learnt from the 80's sexism ?! Just unbelievably dangerous era we're living , peter better off living like a dog outside of his my own house than whatever the hell is this !

Family Guy had actually been doing well this year. This was a great episode. The Caddyshack reference was fantastic. And there was no Meg lololol. She sucks anyway. Oh the Weird Science reference was well done as well!

So Woke
josephdsadowski13 November 2021
Seems like the writers are going through some weird midlife crisis filled with guilt cause they liked movies that aren't woke... not sure this show has much of an identity these days...
