Best Episode in a Looooooooong Time
MamadNobari972 December 2021
So I didn't rate any of the other episode from this season because honestly I didn't know what to rate them, they were so bland and bad I didn't know why there were still making new seasons.

But this one was actually funny, clever and enjoyable, something I haven't seen from Family Guy since like the last season's Terminator episode. Which kinda tells a lot about the state of modern Family Guy, they have to parody a good classic movie for the whole episode to stay a decent show.

I just wish they had the creativity American Dad writers have and we got good funny episodes all the time, not just 1 or 2 episodes after a whole season of nothing sandwich.

All in all, a great noire dicktective episode with actual funny puns and jokes.

Really liked it!

Probably my favorite episode of the season so far! In this all-black-and-white episode, Peter is a post World War 1 detective/private investigator who looks into the disappearance of a nun (Meg). I liked the names used for the characters, some of the jokes were quite funny (like all the priest ones and the one about Pearl Harbor). The end had an interesting twist to it that I did not see coming.

Pretty good

Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with The Postman Always Rings Twice. However this episode itself is definitely one of the strongest in the season with its unique mysterious tone yet the jokes actually work and don't drag on forever. I don't remember seeing any filler cutaways either. The ending while a little predictable was still nice to see. Good job this week Family Guy.

Great episode with a film noir touch.....
mja5829 November 2021
This episode was similar in nature to 2018's "V is for Mystery", with the difference being the principal characters are playing different parts in a film noir movie.

It's not a parody of "The Postman Always Rings Twice" (which I thought it would be), but a completely new story which seems to parody all the film noirs I've seen.

The ending is really over the top, and it genuinely surprised me!

9/10.

Brilliant episode. This noir parody was freaking fantastic. The 1940s style in this story was amazing and hilarious. One of the best episodes of this season. 10/10. I really like season 20 so far.

A classic family guy episode

One of the episodes that reminds me how great family guy is. The jokes that were in this one were good old fashioned family guy. I also was looking for synonymous.

Biased review because I love film noir
gfrost761729 January 2022
I've been watching Family Guy for a long time but as most reviewers would agree, it's gotten weaker, but I can't give up on it. The episode was done in film noir style and references many of the classic movies of that genre along with social commentary of that era. An episode well worth anyone's time.

Family Guy's hommage to Noir
RetroRick6 April 2022
Loved this episode. The script is sharp & it's actually plotted better than a lot of Film Noir films, not least in that you're highly unlikely to guess the denouement.

One tiny negative: I was waiting for Quagmire to show up in a part, but for some reason they didn't give him a role in this outing. No matter

Trigger warning: the episode deals with some weighty social issues like the inter-war racism and the inequality of horses being allowed to crap in the street while humans could not. Fortunately most American cities seem to have redressed that grave injustice.

Weird

I notice "family guy" and "it's always sunny" rip each other off a lot. And family guy is always the boring, not funny version of it, just like this was. And the worst part is, this is probably the best episode of the season.

10/10. This episode is the best in a very long time for sure!

Season 20 is actually decent and not as bad as the last few seasons before.

Hoped that Quagmire will show up in this one more, but it's OK snice they delivered an amazing episode!

The Fatman
bobcobb30129 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There were some amusing moments in this one, but they have done bad parodies like this for so long and we have had so many better ones than this. Definitely skippable.
