In a word: EPIC.
Faraway Downs really hits it's stride as the Drover, Lady Sarah, Nullah and their motley crew set out from the homestead with their 1500 head of cattle bound for Darwin. It isn't long before word of their progress reaches the NT's capital and the ear of Bryan Brown's Carney. David Wenham's Fletcher pops up, as much of a weasel as ever, doing Carney's dirty work. You have to hand it to Wenham: he plays a thoroughly dislikeable character really well.
Again, Baz Luhrmann relies on shots of the outback and sunrise and sunset for extra visual punch and it works. The highpoint of the episode - and the series thus far, for mine - comes at dawn, when the cattle are driven to stampede, and it is absolutely gripping television. We are fortunate Baz found the additional footage from the cutting room floor and put this brilliant production together.
