So it begins

"Return To Mewni", this episode picks up exactly where the previous episode left off with Star helping her mother back on Mewni. It turns out this did not advance Star and Marco's relationship at all, but it's still a great episode. We get to see a lot happen especially how awesome it is to see Moon Butterfly once again show how strong she is. I would think the entire kingdom would be overrun, but this actually took its time very well. Marco's parents are the only ones who appear back on Earth besides Marco. I guess we have yet to find out what will happen to Jackie. Lekmet is truly gone as well. ****

"Moon The Undaunted", this is probably the best segment in the entire movie. We get this flashback that shows exactly how Toffee first appeared as an enemy to the Butterfly family and more importantly, how Moon made a deal with an evil queen named Eclipsa for a spell that could block the healing factor. Moon really does look very cute as Star's age! We also see her future husband, River interact with her and the other members of the High Magic Council in the flashback too. There's this one guy in the flashback that doesn't appear later so I assume he died. ****

"Have you learned nothing?"

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was great and I really enjoyed the story line they developed for us and thought it was genius how they gave us a flashback of Moon's first encounter with Toffee.

The movie starts off just as it ended, the tone begins to become a much darker tone with the blue colors and the setting of nighttime. They then show Marco distressed about star's disappearance out of no where. Star is watching everything as magic is slowly draining out and everything is vanishing. Like any good show will have an antagonist, some evil force trying to take away star's power and kills her and becomes resurrected as an upgrade of a bright highlighted anime from dragon ball Z. She begins to dip down and pulls a dragon ball Z moment burning Toffee.

You end up. getting a great backstory of star's mom and two different perspectives of earth and Mewni where star is trying to defeat Toffee and save the world. In the flashback we find out when Toffee appeared first and her interaction with her now husband river. We then see she made a deal with eclipsa and was told a dark spell that can kill something immortal. Once toffee is killed she will then get her freedom. She seemed hesitant to killing toffee and misses to only get his middle finger detached. "Have you learned nothing?" He says as he tries to regenerate. Nothing.. Oh he'll be back he Hadn't got what he wanted yet.

I would say the humor is mature in this one with a masterbation joke in there, but nothing too bad. It did leave off with a cliff hanger and it is still unknown if Star's mom is going to die. All in all, it was a great movie and brought in many different story lines that flowed well. For all you Starco shippers there was only one Starco moment. Live it, breathe it, cherish it put it in a trophy case and display on your wall. Star and Marco share a hug and it's obvious Marco is in love with star. There is no Jackie because she is irrelevant and Starco is forever. I'm shook.

The Battle for Mewni - Oh,how this show has developed
iancmtexas30 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Star vs. the Forces of Evil started out as a pretty light hearted show which, despite being enjoyable, lacked the characters or depth to put it on the same level as shows like Gravity Falls. However, the show slowly began to change in tone and intensity, and the Season 1 finale, "Storm the Castle," gave us a good look of what the show would become. Season 2 saw more slow changes, culminating in episodes like "Bon Bon the Birthday Clown" and by the Season 2 finale, "Starcrushed," the show was ready to undergo a major change. This movie is the culmination of all this change, and the result is a dark, visually stunning thrill ride with complex characters and terrific writing. However, this movie does have one major flaw: it doesn't build on the last season's cliff when the main character confesses her love. For some reason, that really nagged at me, and it's the only thing keeping this excellent movie from gaining the 10 stars it deserves.
